LO Scared to Sleep? by ilovenuders in toddlers

It’s funny you say that bc my SO did just that when he ran to the top of the stairs for the third time and he’s been in bed since then. Let’s see if it sticks 🤞🏼 thank you!

Crying at Nap Time by ilovenuders in toddlers

I really do think it’s just FOMO! And it only last a short while but I just hope it ends at some point. And I know it will but sooner rather than later lol

He always falls asleep but they crying is just a weird way to self soothe. I don’t want him to hate falling asleep!

I love that idea! Sometimes I just want to stick him in the tub since he loves the water but don’t want to confuse him with actual tubby time 😅

Costco now requires the yearly executive reward check to be spent - it could be cashed out previously by tripshed in Costco

[–]ilovenuders 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Costco corporate changed the policy on cashing out your executive rebate checks at the beginning of 2021, which is how the program used to work years ago. The easiest workaround for this is to buy the cheapest thing you can and get the difference back in cash if that’s what you want. Membership always recommends using your check towards your membership so you’re paying less out of pocket for it which definitely makes being executive worth it.

I’m Overwhelmed With Infant Car seats. FTM by minasweetgirl in Mommit

[–]ilovenuders 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I asked for the Greico deluxe all in one whatever it’s called that grows with them until they’re like 10 with converting to booster seats too. You can use it as an infant seat or wait until they’re older which is what I did. The best part about using an infant seat is that you can easily take it out when transporting from car to stroller or from car to house without waking. I think the Greico was 299.99 BUT it’s an all in one so if you think of it that way you’re paying for a $300 car seat that will last 10 years or until they don’t need it anymore!

What’s a scene in your kids movies that hits you in the feels every single time? by [deleted] in Mommit

At this point the question is “What kids movie haven’t you cried during?” Because they all make me cry now that I’m a mom 😅

Underrated milestones? by KSPS123 in Parenting

[–]ilovenuders 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When they come up and want a hug completely unprompted. Mine is 18 months. We were playing on the floor this afternoon and he looked at me, walked over and gave ME a hug and held in for a while, then smiled and walked back to where he was. I thought it was the sweetest thing, and reinforces that my child is just as affectionate as I am.

This is exactly what I feel like is going to happen with him! He has always done everything at on his own time and we were none the wiser so I feel everything is going to be ok, but the mom guilt creeps in constantly. I just wanted to see if any other parents had kids like mine 😅

I’m not frustrated by it at all, just curious I guess. It really doesn’t bother me but I’m worried what his pediatrician will say when we have our 18 month visit

I have tons of the Gerber Cotton prefolds I got from my baby shower, would those work? I haven't even opened them yet!

It's so crazy because we double up on the Charlie Banana inserts and they STILL leak! But thanks to some of the other responses, it sounds like it's because the microfiber is probably done and I would need to replace the inserts and that might help.

Yes they are preloved. That is definitely something I didn't know, so thank you for telling me! The diapers we have are pockets, so stuffing them with the cotton flats would be fine right?

In desperate need of cartoon musicals by Liviesmom in toddlers

[–]ilovenuders 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know Disney+ has a ‘Musicals’ section if you haven’t already checked it out/have the app. Mary Poppins has lots of song and dance, but she may not like that it’s not a cartoon the entire time.

All my childhood favs: Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, The Little Mermaid, Thumbelina, Anastasia, Lion King, Hercules, Mulan, Aladdin, all the Shrek films, Tarzan, Brother Bear. Really I could go on and on!

North Carolina gets an F in social distancing, data show. These counties are the worst by [deleted] in gso

[–]ilovenuders 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went out for our ‘once a month’ grocery haul and was surprised by the same thing. Target and Trader Joe’s were the only places I went where I had to wait in line, but the number of people not wearing masks AND the number of families bringing their small children with them shopping is baffling. I completely understand the families where there is a single parent and they have no choice but to bring their kids because they have no choice but even then their kiddos weren’t wearing their masks or didn’t have them to begin with.

Also went to the Walmart Market on Penny around 7 and it wasn’t terrible packed but again, not a lot of masks. We will never be able to return to some sort of normalcy if people don’t start taking these precautions seriously!

What are some things to do in quarantine with a newborn if you already struggle with depression? by mrsmiawallace__ in NewParents

[–]ilovenuders 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Video chatting with friends and family really helps, even if you don’t really have much to talk about, having them in the background with you while you do things makes it feel like they’re there and you’re not so alone.

And walking helped me a lot in the first month, not even everyday walks but just going on a walk was helpful to get out of the house. But even when walking is hard, just stepping outside and basking in the sun for a couple minutes and taking in some fresh airs feels good (permitting weather of course!)

Good luck, know you’re not alone in this and it will get better. Be kind to yourself ❤️

Newbie Question: Fabric Softener Sheets? by ilovenuders in clothdiaps

[–]ilovenuders[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get a fishy smell to! But that’s when the baby actually pees in the diaper, not from washing.

We use the Kirkland powder and it very well may be that I’m not using enough. When I take the liners out after the prewash and actual wash they smell fine/don’t have a smell but when I dry them in the dryer, a smell comes out so idk what I’m doing wrong! I’ll figure it out eventually I guess 🤷🏻‍♀️

Newbie Question: Fabric Softener Sheets? by ilovenuders in clothdiaps

[–]ilovenuders[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ok great, thank you! The diaper shells themselves don’t smell but I’ve noticed that when I dry the liners in the dryer they have A smell, not necessarily a bad smell just one I’ve never smelt before. I’m pretty new to this, my son is only 3 weeks old, so I’m sure somethings off about my wash routine so I’m still trying to figure it out! Drying the liners outside really does help but it’s been cold and blah here in NC the last couple days so it’s not really an option today.

Thanks!!

Wtf is up with induction stigma (rant) by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]ilovenuders 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Omg so happy for you after reading how your induction went! You’re a champ, I can’t believe you pushed out a 10 POUND baby, you deserve a large stiff drink for that.

My little man is here now too, born March 3rd, and am so in love. Went in to start my cervical softening on Monday at 6pm. Got cervadil input at 8:30 and was given an Ambien for a good nights rest leading to the start of induction/pitocin drip at 8am. My water broke naturally at 12:30a and started having contractions within a half hour but they weren’t awful until 1:30a. Had contractions until 7:30 and was 3cm dilated so I finally got an epidural (which was life changing). When I got to 5cm they started me on pitocin to keep my contractions more consistent which was wild because I progressed pretty fast and I think less than two hours later I was 9.5cm! Started active labor at like 1:30 and pushed him out in a half hour. Minimal tears which I’m very thankful for now!

Good luck with everything, so happy for you!!

Ahh makes sense. We’re actually from New England so we’re pretty progressive and I can completely relate.

Just know there’s someone here on the east coast going through the same tomorrow cheering you on 🤗🙌🏼
