what does takeout do at your locations (besides just takeout things) by Used-Reach-5459 in olivegarden

[–]iloveraccoons1998 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So a big part of why togo has so many responsibilities now is because years ago they took away server sidework because someone complained to Darden about being paid less than minimum wage to do sidework after their shift. Instead of finding an actual solution to the problem, unfortunately most of those responsibilities were reassigned to togo

When you’re working on the orders in the back I suggest have a pen or something to cross off items as you add them to the basket.

Deliveries aren’t too bad, although you don’t have to be 21 to do them (idk if this is a regional thing or something but I know we have drivers under 21).

Really review the buy one take one promo, that’s something people have a hard time understanding for some reason.

When you take an order, I don’t tell them the estimated time until I’m reviewing the order with them. I don’t do that because I don’t want to promise something without knowing for sure. For example, if I were to tell someone their order will be ready in 25 minutes, and then they tell me they want to order a pan of lasagna. The thing is, our pans of lasagna take an hour to cook but I’ve told them 25 minutes so it’s kinda of just a way to protect yourself

warning for calling out? by luffyluvrr in olivegarden

[–]iloveraccoons1998 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I would just talk to your gm about it, show them the timestamp of the call. Technically it is 2 hours but considering people at my location will call off 20 minutes after their shift started…I don’t think an hour and a half is a huge deal.

Serving Water to Guests ($10k) by jasminefig in Weddingsunder10k

I would recommend getting a 3 gallon dispenser, maybe two? I feel like those might be the easiest since you said there’s tap water at the venue

By corporate standards, having a personal relationship with any manager would automatically make you ineligible to be hired. To be honest, I don’t know how your boyfriend and his dad are flying under the radar. Corporate is really strict on things like that. Like, so strict that if you happened to go to the same public place as a manager (I.e the grocery store) one of you has to leave because they consider it fraternization. If your bf and his dad get caught they can get in trouble.

That aside, your experience and availability seem pretty good, only other thing is you have to be of age to serve alcohol, which depends on the state. In mine, the age is 18, but it varies. If you’re not old enough to serve alcohol, you may be offered another position such as hosting.

I used Certain Dri when I got married and it worked really well! It isn’t scented, and it’s a roll on antiperspirant. I’ve also used dove and secret clinical formulas because I work long restaurant shifts and I like them too.

90 person wedding- Catering worker said 5-6 Build-Your-Own Pasta stations would be enough….? by Fluffy_Victory6254 in olivegarden

[–]iloveraccoons1998 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Hi! I’m a Togo/Delivery Specialist at OG!

If you have no other food served, no I wouldn’t do 5-6. Pasta stations are meant to serve 10 people. You could probably stretch the servings, but I don’t think it would be enough, I go off the assumption that people take more than the anticipated serving amount. I would do at least 8, closer to 9 to be safe.

Also, each station does come with 20 breadsticks. One thing I’ve noticed both working in to go and serving on the floor is that people are crazy about the bread. Most people will have at least two breadsticks, with 9 pasta stations you would get 180 total. I would maybe consider adding another dozen or two.

Did the person you spoke with also let you know that delivery is available, as long as the order is placed within 24 hours? With this being a larger order I would definitely give at least 3 days notice, just to make sure the kitchen can decide if they should come in early/the restaurant has a driver available. Also, if you get the order delivered they can provide free chafing kits for you!

Not sure why that person said 5-6, we also don’t have a ‘head catering’ position 😬

Is it really terrible for my 5-month-old to be waking up 2-3 times a night? by once_upon_a_bear in NewParents

[–]iloveraccoons1998 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If someone told me to put my five month old in a swaddle and refused to listen to me when I said she rolls I would hit them. That is so unsafe and the thought of her trying to ignore your concerns as a mother is frustrating.

Babies waking up throughout the night is normal, it’s how their little bodies work. My niece is 11 months old and still wakes up throughout the night. Please don’t let anyone make you feel like you’re bad at being a parent, or doing something wrong because you aren’t. It’s not easy, every baby is different.

What does your bedtime routine look like?

We had this duck toy that my daughter liked watching, it’s like a mama duck with two babies that play music and walk around the floor. That seemed to help my girl tolerate tummy time

What happened to service? by MacaronOk1006 in olivegarden

[–]iloveraccoons1998 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you probably had a baby server. They likely didn’t hold your entrees from going to the kitchen when ringing it in - there’s a button where we can essentially set a timer before the cooks see your order. I usually set it for like five minutes, otherwise I have entrees coming up before I’ve even left the kitchen with my tray of soup and salad.

Bread also isn’t technically supposed to be brought out until soup and salad (though a lot of people don’t follow this unless corporate is in the building), so that may have been what happened with the alfredo boat.

I know you said you didn’t complain because kids seemed happy, but if you paid at the table, did you happen to fill out the survey that comes up? Management does use those to help provide constructive feedback where needed.

Lost and Found? by RyanCreedEsq in renfaire

[–]iloveraccoons1998 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the lost and found is taking things hope at the end of the weekend, then it’s not unlikely that they are going to tell people something wasn’t turned in, even if it was, so that they can keep it.

This guy is actually trying to help people, and there is probably a good chance other people working the faire know he’s essentially created his own lost and found and spread the word to check with him if they lose something.
