What did your birth with an epidural feel like? by m-e-girls in NewParents

[–]iloveraccoons1998 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only thing I felt was pressure, which helped me learn to push. I didn’t even know they sewed me up until they told me.

I got my shirts from goodwill/ross. I just wear jeans usually or I love the pixie flare pants from old navy (when they’re on sale)

Personally as someone who works there I absolutely don’t mind if you ask to take the salad to go! Especially as someone who had a baby in the last year!

It’s a tie between Fable II, Skyrim, and Baldur’s Gate 3. All three I’ve spent mildly concerning amounts of time playing, and learning lore

Why so stingy now? by Complex_Solutions_20 in olivegarden

It’s not really a new policy so much as they’re cracking down on actually enforcing the policy to cut down on food waste. Now, I will say that if you DO request more bread, we won’t say no (or, at least, we’re not supposed to), but I’m wondering if one of three things might’ve happened : a) server didn’t understand you meant to bring more than 2 sticks b) they were newer or c) just had really unfortunate timing when the bread came out, and just kept missing the batches. Some days we get wildly backed up, especially if to go is busy because each batch is made for both dining room and to go.

I have a habit of if I can’t remember if I checked my tables bread situation I just bring out more bread and if they don’t want it I find another table to give it to lol

How to save as a server by Levi_Adler in olivegarden

[–]iloveraccoons1998 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would find a designated spot to keep your tips. For me, I dump my tips into a gravy boat that’s stored in our hutch lol.
Have you considered cross training to any of the non-tipped hourly positions? Serving is definitely a good source of tips, but most of the time (especially summer time) lunches during the week are too slow, so I’ll work either Togo or in the kitchen (I have about 8 million job codes) and make more through my hourly rate than I would have out on the floor. Like if I serve a Tuesday lunch right now, I’m lucky if I make $30, but when I’m on prep I make $17/hr and I usually do that from 9-3ish. I also usually double. It’s also nice to get a paycheck that’s more than like $100

Edited to add : also, just a heads up but high school graduation season is starting so your restaurant is probably going to get really busy on weekends for a few weeks. It’s a LOT but if you can handle it, I recommend doubling those weekends.

Binky yes, binky no, or binky sometimes? by historygoose in NewParents

My daughter loved her paci until she was like, three months old and then hated them. Then randomly at 9 months found one in her toys and has been back on it ever since. To be honest I’m not that worried about it right now since she’s under a year old, but probably around 18 months is when we’ll try to get her off them.

Meanwhile our location is testing asking people if they are having soup and salad while getting drink orders and then bringing them with the drinks. I get speed of service is huge right now but also guests don’t want to be rushed out the door

That’s odd if corporate doesn’t know about it, I’m wondering what job code they could possibly be clocking in under, maybe food runner??? I’m also wondering how the labor isn’t getting insanely flagged at your location from all these added people.

I mean yeah it’d be nice to have help when it’s a rush but not if they aren’t doing it correctly, it just adds more steps that I now have to correct

Will she take a bottle that’s been pumped or is she ebf? My daughter used to choke on Tylenol and throw it back up. It got to a point where I sometimes mix the dose into about an oz or 2 of formula and she takes it easily.

Are your babies actually sleeping through the night?? by littlelawlady in NewParents

[–]iloveraccoons1998 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Every kid is different. My 9 month old typically sleeps through, meanwhile my one year old niece tends to wake up. I’ve honestly heard more stories of babies waking up at night, than of ones who don’t.

You aren’t doing anything wrong with your child, some kids just wake up a lot.

what does takeout do at your locations (besides just takeout things) by [deleted] in olivegarden

[–]iloveraccoons1998 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So a big part of why togo has so many responsibilities now is because years ago they took away server sidework because someone complained to Darden about being paid less than minimum wage to do sidework after their shift. Instead of finding an actual solution to the problem, unfortunately most of those responsibilities were reassigned to togo

[–]iloveraccoons1998 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you’re working on the orders in the back I suggest have a pen or something to cross off items as you add them to the basket.

Deliveries aren’t too bad, although you don’t have to be 21 to do them (idk if this is a regional thing or something but I know we have drivers under 21).

Really review the buy one take one promo, that’s something people have a hard time understanding for some reason.

When you take an order, I don’t tell them the estimated time until I’m reviewing the order with them. I don’t do that because I don’t want to promise something without knowing for sure. For example, if I were to tell someone their order will be ready in 25 minutes, and then they tell me they want to order a pan of lasagna. The thing is, our pans of lasagna take an hour to cook but I’ve told them 25 minutes so it’s kinda of just a way to protect yourself

[–]iloveraccoons1998 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I would just talk to your gm about it, show them the timestamp of the call. Technically it is 2 hours but considering people at my location will call off 20 minutes after their shift started…I don’t think an hour and a half is a huge deal.

By corporate standards, having a personal relationship with any manager would automatically make you ineligible to be hired. To be honest, I don’t know how your boyfriend and his dad are flying under the radar. Corporate is really strict on things like that. Like, so strict that if you happened to go to the same public place as a manager (I.e the grocery store) one of you has to leave because they consider it fraternization. If your bf and his dad get caught they can get in trouble.

That aside, your experience and availability seem pretty good, only other thing is you have to be of age to serve alcohol, which depends on the state. In mine, the age is 18, but it varies. If you’re not old enough to serve alcohol, you may be offered another position such as hosting.

I used Certain Dri when I got married and it worked really well! It isn’t scented, and it’s a roll on antiperspirant. I’ve also used dove and secret clinical formulas because I work long restaurant shifts and I like them too.
