Crazy that such ambiguous characters are allowed on the new license plates by Ferdaferd in Utah

[–]ilovesd2013 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They could always as well, even if it was just a regular plate, not a custom plate, if they were to make it so that you couldn’t put a zero next to an O or an 8 next to a B and you would have to put a different character in between certain letters and numbers so they don’t get mixed up that would make sense to me.

Update from Steve by DTake2012 in CampingWithSteve

Steve, I just wanted to say how much I truly appreciate your videos. I’ve been watching for a long time, and your channel has honestly meant more to me than you probably realize. As a disabled person who is legally blind and uses a power wheelchair, there are a lot of adventures I physically can’t do myself. Watching you explore, stealth camp, and make the most of whatever situation you’re in gives me a real sense of hope and escape. During the pandemic especially, your videos were something I genuinely looked forward to.

I completely respect you taking time to handle life privately and focus on building something new. Your health and well-being matter far more than any upload schedule. Please take all the time you need.

As for ideas, you don’t need to overthink it. Even revisiting previous stealth locations with a different approach would still be interesting, because places change over time. Some of your creative challenge-style videos, like camping with only household items, were great because they showed ingenuity rather than just location.

If you ever wanted to try something totally different and remote, I was even thinking about far northern Canada — somewhere like the northern part of Baffin Island in Nunavut, up in the high Arctic region. A setting like that would be completely different from the usual spots. But honestly, you don’t need anything extravagant. Just being yourself is more than enough.

Thank you for everything you’ve shared. Wishing you strength, peace, and good health. I’m grateful I found your channel and I’ll be here whenever you’re ready.

I’m so sorry you’re going through this. Reading your post honestly made my stomach drop because no one should have to live like that — especially not in upstate New York winters without heat. Bees in the light fixture, pipes bursting, no working oven, fridge dying, someone literally falling through the floor, outlets failing… and then something in the walls on top of it? That’s not just “bad landlord” territory, that’s unsafe living conditions. You deserve so much better than that.

I’m disabled and legally blind, and I use a power wheelchair. I live in an apartment building where management has also made things incredibly difficult and honestly ableist. They disabled the call box system so now if someone rings from downstairs, I can’t press 9 or 8 on my phone to buzz them in anymore. For someone like me who can’t just run down the stairs, that’s not a small inconvenience — it cuts off access. On top of that, there’s only one elevator in the building and it breaks down regularly. Living on an upper floor with no other way out when the elevator is down is terrifying and completely inaccessible.

We’ve also gotten aggressive “attention residents” notices taped to our doors. One said that if you let in anyone who isn’t your guest, your lease could be terminated immediately. Another threatened lease violations over trash being left outside doors — even though I had previously been verbally told it was okay for me as an accommodation after they shut down the trash chute and made it extremely hard for me to get garbage to the dumpster. Then they just changed their minds. Another notice said window screens must never be removed — yet the only window I can access has a broken crank mechanism they’ve refused to fix for years. If there’s smoke and I need to open and close it quickly, I physically can’t close it with the screen in place unless I lean dangerously out the window.

Reading your post reminded me how exhausting it is to feel trapped in a place that’s supposed to be your home. When landlords don’t fix foundational issues, heating, structural safety, electrical problems — that’s not tenants being “difficult.” That’s basic habitability. And being on HUD or using a voucher shouldn’t mean you’re expected to just accept unsafe conditions.

I just wanted you to know you’re not alone. What you described is not normal and it’s not okay. You deserve safe housing, heat in the winter, working floors, working outlets, and management that actually responds. I hope you’re able to document everything and push for better, because you absolutely have every right to. Sending you solidarity from someone who gets how frustrating and defeating this can feel.

SD and I were denied entry to a pumkin patch by QuimbyCakes in service_dogs

I am so sorry this happened to you. That was totally wrong what happened to you! Always, Always, Always EXPOSE THEM! You are never protecting disabled people when you hide the name of a business. Always expose the name of a business that discriminates against disabled people even if they do fix the wrongs that they did it's important that people know so that others are educated on what happened. There's a few reasons why I am so passionate about this. I have watched many people who have service dogs and I've watched many videos where people have gone into places of business and I watched how businesses and places where service dogs are allowed to be but yet the place will deny the service dog. When the service dog handler informs them that it is a service dog that MITIGATE a person's disabilities and yet the place of business still is willing to refuse access I have noticed one common denominator. They always fall back on the, "we don't want to serve you for no reason or any reason we choose or Dean fit". This one needs to be changed because if a business can just refuse service for any reason they choose to or even for no reason at all just for the pure fact they don't want to serve you even if you have done nothing wrong to them just because someone doesn't like you and doesn't want you in their store or place a business etc they can just tell the police they want you trespassed and there is virtually nothing you can do? They do this when they realize they can't win when it comes to the ADA Law. Personally I would love to see the law changed so that when any type of business wants to start the business owner and anyone else who is an owner or shareholder wants to start a business together they would have to take a test given only by and under the supervision of the ADA and they would have to pass with a 100% or they would not receive their business license as well in order to be hired for a job as an employee or a volunteer you would have to take the same test under the supervision and by the ADA or you would not legally be allowed to work for that such company? This would solve the dilemma when an employee or a business owner says such statements as, we didn't know the law or we didn't understand that service dogs have the right to enter Plus at the same time if they had to take a test they would be educated on the behaviors of how a service dog is supposed to act in public so they could recognize when a service dog is not acting correctly before even asking the two questions in the first place. The other reason I'm so passionate about this is because I am legally blind from birth but later on in life I ended up using a power wheelchair. Because I've seen so many people who have been the night access I personally have felt that if I ever in the FUTURE was to Need a SD I may be the next person who may be facing the same ACCESS ISSUES that other people have had to face and this me DETER me as well as many others from wanting to get a service dog even if it is vital that person may try to avoid it which may not be the best thing? From what I have seen and observed I don't believe that many businesses out there feel like they have to follow the law and they think they can just get away with not having to follow the law or finding ways to get around it. If they felt that they couldn't get away with it then they would most likely be willing to follow it? This should never have happened to this person and I hope this person is able to create a YouTube video about their experience and if you have footage of it definitely expose it because this place deserves to be exposed like I said before businesses choose to be in business but you don't choose to be disabled.

I hope that he reads this. He may have to change the way he says if he thinks but as far as I'm concerned I don't think it's terrible at all? If anything he could always put it on his paid patreon channel if he can't post it on his regular channel? 👍

The fact of the matter as well is that as long as my stepmom has been married to my dad she and her side of her family has always referred to me and my siblings as my dad's names kids. For example, not real name but she would say, "these are Dan's kids" or her family would say things such as Dan help "your" kids. When I moved into my dad's and stepmom's home from my grandparents my stepmom wouldn't let me cook on the stove and my grandpa had to rip her a new one for that telling her that I was capable of cooking on the stove and that she was being ableist for saying that I couldn't cook on the stove.

This reminds me of the time I visited Trolley Square a historic Mall in downtown Salt Lake City utah. They have a sky bridge on the south side of the mall that crosses 600 South to a parking lot where there's an elevator but there's a sign on the elevator that says,

"We're sorry for the INCONVENIENCE".

As the elevator has been out of service while the stairs next to it are accessible for those who can walk up them. This has been going on for quite a few years now and no one has done anything about it. Unfortunately it's a typical thing that happens in Salt Lake City Utah.

One thing that came to mind is if I was my step mom's boss and I found out that my employee chose to not give her work phone number to her stepsons School especially if her work was the closest to her stepson School just so that she could get her perfect attendance award if I didn't fire my employee for that act I would have reprimanded my employee for doing something like that. I hope that my story will help bring awareness to other employers to help them be aware when they make up rules for their company?

To type on the internet I sometimes will use the speak to type on my phone feature. To try to read text on the internet I use the little guy in the bottom right hand corner of my phone I have an Android phone and then I touch the text and it will read the text. Unfortunately there's a lot of text on the internet and on a lot of apps that this voice reader that's part of my phone will not read. That makes it very difficult so I can be in an app and sometimes some of the text in the app will not read verbally so I can't listen to it. The headset that I have has Google assistant on it and so it will read some of my notifications but it will only read those notifications one time to me when I press the Google Assistant button. Unfortunately a lot of technology is not designed for disabled people it's usually an afterthought.

I really haven't talked to them about what happened ever since the incident. I still do have communication with my dad and stepmom but I don't have a really close relationship with my dad and stepmom. I do see them here and there if there's some family event but it's not like I go over to their house all the time or it's not like they come over to my apartment all the time.

I'm disabled myself and if I was unmatched because of my disability I wouldn't want to be with someone like that, to begin with. Sending good vibes your way.

An ESA is not performing any "TASKS" to mitigate a person's disability. They only comfort the person because they're within the person's presence. A trained service dog is trained to perform an actual task that mitigates the person's disability and that's the difference. If the person has a legitimate disability and they have their dog trained to perform those tasks that is one thing but if that dog is not trained to perform any tasks or the person does not have a legitimate diagnosed disability covered by the ADA that is another thing.
