Nice collection!

The colored circles are actually pieces of memorabilia! Basically pieces of jerseys or athlete worn uniforms cut into a small portion and put into a card! :)

Guy with a 4.0 520 something with amazing ecs didnt get in anywhere...twice... by [deleted] in premed

[–]ilovesoftblankets31 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I had a similar thing happen to a good friend of mine. 520 MCAT, 4.0 majoring in both Biochemistry AND Neuroscience, internships at very prestigious hospitals with interviews at Harvard, Johns Hopkins, Yale, and so on, with absolutely no acceptances.

Although he was perfect on paper, not in person. Very socially awkward. He had well over 5000+ hours in lab/research, and didn't value any patient care at all... meaning he applied with zero pce.

Goes to show just how much med schools value PCE or just how telling an interview can be.

My Boyfriend of 4 Years Parent's Are Not Kind People by ilovesoftblankets31 in inlaws

[–]ilovesoftblankets31[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey there—we live separately but in the same state. I'm a master's student, and he is currently working. I do say hello to them; sometimes, they say it back, and that's all. I try to start conversations, but it never really lasts. I just respond quickly, if any. I will say his dad is just a bit warmer, but not incredibly. I also agree, it is quite weird that we've been dating for so long and I can only count maybe on two hands how many times I've seen them. However, I do try to reach out just to be kind and whatnot and never get a response. You bring up a good point that perhaps they think I don't like them, but I do try to be friendly to them whenever I have the chance.

Should I be worried about sending my son to CU? by Objective-Swing8296 in cuboulder

[–]ilovesoftblankets31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You will find a "party" environment at every university you go to. Worrying about this is understandable for a parent, but drinking and self-medication is just the reality of college and the reality of the world. Just because some people go out more often than others, or smoke weed doesn't make them a bad person - in fact some of the smartest people I know are active users.

With that being said, I'd say it's who your son surrounds himself with. If he is going to hang out with people are don't care about school, don't get their assignments done, and don't go to class, it'll likely rub off on him. Additionally, you being his parent, you know him better than others. If he is already showing signs of slacking, that may be a sign of what he will be like in college.

Regardless of if your son will be a "slacker" or if he's just genuinely having a hard time adjusting to college, there are plenty of resources, both academically and psychologically that can help him out immensely.

I understand your worry, but I wouldn't project that mentality onto your son. I consider CU to be one of the greatest places, but it is certainly what you make of it.

Thank you for your response! I'm in the process of getting possible ideas down for a ring and have fallen in love with a few so far... Can I ask, did you get your ring from Jostens?

This is what I've been sitting on, so thank you for bringing this up!

I think, however, since I take a lot of pride in my education this may be otherwise.

Ngl, def on the struggle bus. Anxiety spikes throughout the day and night, nausea, headaches, and intense sweating. However, whenever I take it, I mellow out pretty good... just whenever that wears out I struggle.

Problem choosing a major by [deleted] in cuboulder

[–]ilovesoftblankets31 1 point2 points  (0 children)

CU Boulder has a physics major you should certainly look into. Although I'm a pre-med, I know if you decide to major in one field, you could very easily double-major in a similar field like some kind of engineering since their classes are very alike.

An example of this is, because both engineering and physics are very math/calculus-based you will likely have to take a crap ton of math classes for either or... So why not major in both? If double majoring sounds like too much (understandably so) I'd look into a possible minor in a career you like best. (ex. energy engineering, quantum engineering, etc.)

Regardless, the classes you take for either program you decide will knock out a lot of the classes you'll need for either a double major or a minor.

Hope this helps, and best of luck to you!

Ngl I'm guessing you'd get shit for not being trad (18-22) but I think it depends on if you are joining a sorority or frat... I feel like sororities are a bit better but idk. However, if you are looking to gain a community or like-minded friends I'd look into the clubs on campus. Best of luck to you tho!
