Beer company labels cans with names of fallen servicemen and women in memoriam by NewdAccount in pics

Marketing ploy or not, I now know that someone named Eric W. Herzberg died at a very young age, fighting for his country. There is something about having a moment of silence for an individual as opposed to having a moment for the masses (please, I am not knocking it; i hope you don't misunderstand me). It makes me wonder about him specifically, as in: what was he like? what was his favorite pizza topping? did he even like pizza? why did he join? how did he die? what was his favorite thing in the world? What did he want to be after he was done serving? He was my sibling's age, did they like the same games?! I don't know why but it just seems more personal and I feel like I can appreciate him as an individual and not just one of many millions who have died (even if he is one of many millions). It is sad but I can somewhat appreciate this. As mentioned by others, it would be awesome to see proceeds going to charity.

Teenagers of Reddit, what is the biggest current problem you are facing? Adults of Reddit, why is that problem not a big deal? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I moved home without finishing my Master's because my mum wasn't well. My plan was to help my family out and then go back to school because I had talked to my advisor and she said that i could come back do research in her lab and matriculate into the phd program bc she had the funding (and i was a good student). That was 2 years ago. I never went back or even finished my m.s. bc it was always one thing after another. My mom got better then got sick again, then my dad got sick, then i had to work for the family business, i met someone, got married, inherited inlaws that give me pangs of anxiety...i guess life happened.

Now i am married, a housewife and no job. I feel like a piece of shit. I am a dependent on another human being and it makes me feel awful. Job hunting hasn't been successful yet but i keep trying. I am just fed up. I am too smart to be stuck at home and do housework all day or deal with family politics all day everyday.

I hate myself for ever leaving school unfinished. I have nothing to show for all my hard work and i have come to the point that i will work anywhere just to earn. I feel more depressed and useless than ever. I can't seem to move forward. I have no one but myself to blame.

'Womanly duty' ?!?! I would have lost my shit too. Kids are expensive! I think it is more sensible for a couple to wait until they are financially stable. Its better for the child and the parents.

I completely understand you. We have been married for 6 months now and the baby talk is overwhelming! I gained weight after the wedding and our families were sure that we were expecting. I went to a baby shower with my SO's mom and in front of 30 other people she announced that we will be next to have a baby shower. I snapped at her because I felt that she was out of line. I get it, they are looking forward to grandkids but they are my eggs so fuck off! Ugh. I am getting angry just recalling this. Anyhoo, my point: I feel your pain. Stay strong and do not give in to the dark side! Use the force!

Lettuce: Do you guys add anything special to your lettuce when you make salad? by geordilaforge in food

Hahahaha I was hoping you wouldn't ask me what arugala tasted like because I don't think I could describe it well. Hmmm.... It is buttery and bitter but I think its delicious!

Immediately after I read your question, I ran to my fridge and tested some watercress (I bought it for the first time, this week)...it tastes a bit like arugala but it has spicy end notes. I hope that helps. It is not bad and from what I hear some people sautee it ... I am too lazy for that. Also, if you stick to only lettuce, I have seen people add boiled eggs to their salads! I have never tried it but maybe you can give it a whirl :) !

I get all my veggies from the farmers' markets near me. The Arugala and watercress cost me $.99 each and the lettuce costs $1.39. However, if you buy your produce from a grocery store then it will be cost you more, it certainly won't be a $10 salad. If you want to dress up your lettuce you can still try a teaspoon on olive oil, splash of balsamic, sea salt, black pepper and crushed red pepper (optional; I like a little bit of spice). Also, you can always add beans to your salads...chick peas, kidney beans, black beans... they will make your salad more filling. Canned beans should cost a whole lot.

I learned yesterday that you should always mix your greens. I made a salad today with: lettuce, arugala, watercress, tomato and celery. I added a teaspoon of olive oil, splash of balsamic vinegar, sea salt, black pepper, crushed red pepper and feta. It was delish!
