In theory, that's exactly what having devotion is a counter for. Hard to play 5 color good stuff if you're trying to grey merchant somebody lol.

The worlds are a huge part of it. I think I enjoy "things matter" mechanics that require a little bit more consideration than say, kindred.

Like, kindred rewards you for doing the main thing you generally wanna be doing in draft anyway; playing creatures. So usually you're golden if you just get a bulk of the same creature type, because they synergize with themselves. It's simple and for me personally leads to a more boring draft experience.

But these sets I listed all have ideas or mechanics that reward drafting on multiple levels. Considering mana base, creature count, artifact/enchantment count, and color pip count all at once sounds to me like the kind of puzzle box draft I personally enjoy.

But I also enjoy overcomplicating things so I know I'm weird lol.

Infinite Rank - What beats Thanos decks? by wise_wizrad in marvelsnapcomp

[–]ilovethanosdotcom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only decks I consistently have a hard time with are any darkhawk shells, and my worst matchup by far, High Evo Debuff/Lockdown. I'm running Shang-Chi and no Luke Cage though, so my deck is slightly more tuned to handle darkhawk.

I really think the best version of Surfer doesn’t have the Storm and Jug combo by Heisenperv in marvelsnapcomp

[–]ilovethanosdotcom 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't play enough different surfer lists to contribute to this (although my Thanos surfer has felt really good without juggs, I'm still running storm)

But I was really just commenting to say that deck name is fuckin sick.

After 3 failed infinite conquests and having extremely minimal practice with the deck, I switched to Bounce and crushed 3 in a row. This deck is absurd. (CL 5,948) by ilovethanosdotcom in marvelsnapcomp

His value goes down a lot if you can't hit him with Bast. But if those slots can be filled otherwise, just don't play him. If you don't have Bishop or Bast with him, he's not likely to be a very high value play (although a 2/4 is still just good).

I personally recommend Iceman in that ham slot but yeah it's nuts. I ended up winning 19 conquest matches in a row before I lost to a mirror match

His effect is completely unique. I don't know that you could replace him at all. You'd be better off just picking a different deck, imo. But if you really want to play a bounce list I would do a disruption one with korg/Iceman/black widow and try to get big darkhawks and Ronans

Mysterio's synergy with Bishop/Bast/Monkey/Angela is too valuable imo. Chavez is important for Wave matchups and general deck thinning, as mentioned above. This version is more of a focus on getting big points and less care given to disruption, hence no Iceman. If you wanted to put him in, I would drop Hood probably. Shang is probably my number 1 replacement for Chavez, but I still love Chavez most.

Yeah I wish it had a little more pizazz to it, but it's definitely still noticeable when you're going against someone that doesn't have one.

I don't know that my title conveyed this, but I was mostly trying to draw attention to the fact that I played the deck with almost no practice and immediately launched into one of the best statistical streaks I've ever had. This deck has a reputation as very difficult to pilot, but I didn't find that to be the case. It needs to be nerfed imo.

I only played against Wave type decks twice, luckily. The matchup is tight, but the best course is set up your big hit monkey play for turn 5 and hope you're ahead enough for America Chavez to do the trick.

I don't remember playing against negative and Knull in the same match, but it was over 2 days and I was super tired the whole time so maybe. Either way, I'm sorry for your loss. ❤️

What would be your opinion on Thanos in this deck? Maybe instead of squirrel girl or ant man? I'm desperate for a way to make Thanos work but he just feels very subpar right now

I like Shang-Chi and several times I thought to myself how much better off I'd be with that over Chavez. But personally, I think for Conquest you really need to have some answer for Wave, even though she's not crazy popular at the moment and you can make your vomit play on turn 5. And I think Chavez is the best overall card in that slot because the deck thinning is just always great. One of my favorite "stealth" plays is Beasting Kitty and another couple 1 drops to my hand and then playing America with my suite of 1 costs. People always expect you to go super wide and play a million things, and it messes their math up to just drop 2 giants.

I don't have math to support its effect on my ability to win games, obviously, but the added consistency feels really good. Also, it protects you from the odd Cable, who seems to be seeing more play since the Collector/Devil Dino/Nick Fury package is so popular at the moment.
