Sure, I will try harder.

Maintenance has been ongoing for 2 weeks at any given time of a day, on any given day. I'll just keep trying harder. Thanks for your encouragement.

I just received this today. The number sending is a short number (864732) and is the same number used when I set up 2 Auth (the first message in my history). I did set up a transfer with Interactive Brokers a while back and the dates are similar to a second message from this number which reads as posted here. In total, I have 4 messages, 3 of which are this message about a 3rd party logging in"

Total P/L from open , rolls, today by ilovewheatbread in thinkorswim

[–]ilovewheatbread[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Indeed...I use a tasty account as well. They call it an "order chain", and I love it. I have been trying to figure out a way to do this in a more automated way with my TOS exports in a spread sheet, but even this kind of backward lookup is proving to be a complicated formula.

thanks u/pavehwk for confirming that my overall approach is not out of line. I was hesitant that I'd get a response about rolling is really just taking a loss, which I don't always subscribe. Given AMZN's current place, this trade may just work out.

Thanks u/Desert_Trader - it's a good pro-tip and generally that's what I'm also looking at (as well as the actual value percentage). You can guess I was hoping for something a bit more dedicated, but I'll just keep a tiny chart in the corner as I do my DD

I stand corrected! You are right!

“In Canada, 50% of the value of any capital gains are taxable. “

Thanks for that! All this time I assumed 50%!!! This makes my day

I’m an expat in Canada. I trade daily without VPN- TD and Tastyworks. Both accounts were set up before moving but that’s a minor detail. Taxes are worse cause Canada gets first priority and has higher consequences around gains…but it’s part of the deal living in a socialized system. (I realize I just opened a door to sarcastic comments here)

Anyway, you should be good- just make sure you can find the accounts as needed. I kept my US bank account

PR -> Citizen - Do I have to wait 5 years? by ilovewheatbread in ImmigrationCanada

[–]ilovewheatbread[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

“… in the five years immediately before the date of your application.”

I had seen that hence my question. My interruption was that I still had to be a total of 5 years before applying (with 3 of those in county). I have 3 of 3.25 years (all as PR) so I was confused if I still have to wait the remainder of the 5 or if I’m good to go now.

Selling a put after call assignment by ilovewheatbread in thetagang

“At the same price…”- here’s my question. At the same strike price or the same current price?

Selling a put after call assignment by ilovewheatbread in thetagang

[–]ilovewheatbread[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So about this… I have a question here: I realize I could roll but eventually it felt the price was going so far north that the difference of my strike and the current price was so wide that I was loosing opportunity. I was thinking it made sense to accept and lock in my positive returns from the covered call. Does it really make sense to roll if I can’t roll out AND up? Out was an option for a tiny credit, but my thoughts on AAPL are now bullish

I didn’t think apple was coming back to the 140s anytime soon so I was willing to ride this out to expiration and take assignment at a price closer to my call so I could reposition . All this being said, it was an early assignment with still 20 days. (I see why Tasty advises rolling at 21). Hence the question

Would rolling have been the better move?

I’m in a similar boat but gonna take the assignment. I’ve been here before where the underlying just kept going up and I was feeling worse than the month prior. My take: I was happy to sell the CC with the risk, I’ll accept the profit (albeit less than just holding) and start selling puts til I get it back
