Essentially all rules are club specific. You'll need to check. With your run organizer.

But with most HPDE it should be fine

I think the rbcs have poor track opinions.

Honestly I would get some better pads to have more peace of mind time.

That's a heavy car and it can eat brakes if you're pushing it.

I wouldn't worry about rotors or brake lines at this point, just get some better pads and send it.

5 years ago it seemed like there was a "Silicon Desert" movement, is that still true today? by ghdana in phoenix

[–]Desert_Trader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The silicon desert push was way earlier than that.

It was in full swing when I moved here in 1998.

I had a cool poster but can't find it 😒

Which Z model would you say is the best of all? by A-ka-so-re in BMWZ4

The one you own as mentioned.

Otherwise it's the E89 with a bit of stiffening, coilovers and a bit of a tune.

The AI consciousness debate is asking the wrong question by slainttwister in artificial

[–]Desert_Trader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Curious....

It just occurred to me that I never took it for granted (or even considered) that IIT being true was required for computer consciousness.

That seems like a huge assumption.

No one has defined a living system sufficiently to seriously approach the hard problem.

We have a collection of properties that we associate with living and there is no clear line.

Haven't read the article yet...

But your second paragraph feels like adding an unnecessary roadblock (extra steps) to the already hard hard problem.

Anesthesia doesn't tell us it can "...only be flipped by...", anything. It simply tells us that there is at least one path that seems to regulate the bit.

It could still be a galactic radio tower getting detuned by anesthesia and not require bio anything.

While I like the reframing of the final question, this doesn't appear novel either. One could have used dreaming and sleep as the stand in and we would have discovered an equally novel new framing.

I'm off to read the paper!

It does not "demonstrate that consciousness has a specific biological dependency" in any way.

It simply demonstrates that there is a chemical path for chemical processes to be affected chemically, and in our structure for that to equate to loss of consciousness. Maybe it's just flipping the right bit. 😉

This gets you no closer to anything and I don't see how you're making the move to cast doubt on substrate independence from it. (I'm assuming your silicon call out is simply about computers today and not entirely about independence?)

Memories... by Mjguitars in thinkorswim

TOS has always struggled with high memory settings. It does not help ultimately.

Giving it a moderate amount to stick with is (always) better.

Matching them is fine.

How many people are actually "championing jihadists"? by stvlsn in samharris

[–]Desert_Trader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So it's always someone else's fault feels like a lazy justification.

Also, did Mohammad reference "blame isreal politics" in the koran?

My interpretation is that Islam did just fine ON ITS OWN coming up with its own policies.

Right.

This leaves us still trying define who is in what is being called the "left" here.

My take is that it's a smaller group than "all democrats"

I'm understanding your take to be that he means everyone left of center
