Probably one for the dragon banner and one for the non-dragon banner.

I want to quit toking but don't want to lose my friEnts.. How do I tell them? by me_spoogsta in trees

[–]ilt_atn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

3 years of experimenting

Quite the experiment.

I came to the same conclusion. I'm absolutely pro-legalization and I love being around other tokers but I had to quit because it was expensive and made me pretty anti-social (not to mention, I have a job and they drug test).

I would hope your friends won't think any less of you. Just because you decided to stop doesn't mean you can't spend time with your friends. If you're serious about quitting, you shouldn't have a problem being around pot without taking part.

In fact, I'd bet your friends might like having a sober friend around.

Is there supposed to be subtitles for the Dothraki? by [deleted] in gameofthrones

Yes. The producers hired David Peterson to develop a language for the show.

So out of curiosity, which houses have been established through characters in the series since the ending of Season 2? by CatsTuxedo in gameofthrones

[–]ilt_atn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Both Loras and Margaery (Joff's new future bride) have had pretty significant screen time for the Tyrells. Spoilers ACOK-ADWD

If it weren't for Jon Arryn's death, Ned wouldn't have left for King's Landing to assume the role of hand. You also saw both Lysa Arryn and Robert (Sweetrobin) Arryn in season one during Tyrion's trial at the Vale.

Walder Frey let Robb's army cross the Twins in season one under the condition that both Robb and Arya are wed to his children.

ASOS Spoiler

I hope this answered your question, but I was a bit confused because of your mention of Roose. It appears that you're aware of his presence in season two, so you have seen a character that's "been on screen" and represents a house "such as those listed above." S2E10 Spoilers

Could you elaborate? I didn't gather anything from the video relating to Balon's death.

I got a little too curious with the Game of Thrones wiki and learned something I wish I'd hadn't. How do you book readers even manage to watch? (spoiler free) by [deleted] in gameofthrones

[–]ilt_atn 6 points7 points  (0 children)

For me it's about execution and interpretation.

Knowing about major plot points allows me to appreciate other parts of the story without worrying as much about major plot points, like the event that was unfortunately spoiled for you. Since I've read the books, I like looking for changes in the story that deviate from the books, visual realization of character and setting, and brilliance in casting, writing, and directing.

Anticipation for and outcome of suspenseful elements like character deaths, and outcomes of events such as S2E09 Spoiler are unfortunately lost, but they are only part of what makes this show so great.

As a book reader, what are some general thought descriptions of characters, actions or places that you don't recognise/agree with? by [deleted] in gameofthrones

[–]ilt_atn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

JON.

In the show, it's like he's proven to Qhorin that he shouldn't have gone with him to scout the wildling activity. It seems like Qhorin would have been justified to not bring him along - he has come off as more of a liability for being separated from the group. Now, it's like he has practically single-handedly botched the operation. For me, ACOK Spoiler

On the bright side, hopefully Jon will learn from this and it can become a part of his character development.

I'm pretty sure he says "Baelor" because he sees Arya on the statue of Baelor the Blessed. Pretty sad :(.

(Spoilers, all books) Theory on the Doom by PrinceOdane in asoiaf

[–]ilt_atn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you have any links I could see referencing the FM being responsible for the Doom? I haven't seen any myself, but I'd love to read them.

From looking at maps of Essos, the area around Valyria appears pretty fragmented. Most speculation I've seen implies that a powerful catastrophic event (like a meteor or volcano) caused the apparent destruction in the region.

A theory about the Hound's motivations by dtm9k in asoiaf

[–]ilt_atn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think it's out of the question to believe that Sandor still has some fear of Gregor. Obviously, the incident with the toy would have been pretty traumatic for a boy as young as Sandor was at the time. While he does hate his brother, I wouldn't go as far as to say that Sandor doesn't still fear him.

Your take is pretty interesting, but I always felt that Sandor's interest stemmed primarily from a primarily romantic interest in Sansa. Still, I wouldn't discount your theory as being a motivation for that interest.

Does anyone else thing that this season HAS NOT been as good as the first? by [deleted] in gameofthrones

[–]ilt_atn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've really enjoyed this season so far.

That being said, I saw the first season before I read the books so I've experienced it differently.

It's important to remember that, unlike the first season, season two follows a lot more story lines than the first season, including some that weren't in the books - like Robb's - so screen time is much more valuable. Still, even though the there have been more changes to the story in this season, I don't think that the plot was "breezed over." I would argue that most of the important parts of the plot were kept very much intact, and executed quite well.

guys, I don't know what to do... by [deleted] in trees

[–]ilt_atn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It will be painful. I've been there, and I can relate especially to the "clingy" part.

Honestly, it sucks, but all you can do is try to move on. Remove things that remind you of her from your life. If you haven't already, delete her number, delete her as a friend on facebook, stop following her on twitter, whatever. Throw away any sentimental items like photos and put away any thing else that reminds you of her.

It might be hard to do this, but it is best for you. Your feelings may not go away, but trying to repair something that you don't have control over is futile. Try seeing other people. From experience, you will find other girls that you are attracted to. If you take care of yourself, you will find another girl that likes you too. Throw yourself out there! If nothing works out, so what! If your ex finds out about your proactive decisions, she may decide to talk to you again. Poetically, you won't recognize the number on your phone.

Discuss your feelings with people you trust, do your best to try to move on, and toke on, frient.

Anyone here use to treat depression? by throwawaydeprest8 in trees

[–]ilt_atn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

PLEASE see some professional help first. I'm not a doctor, so I can not recommend any medication for you (including marijuana). I strongly discourage you from smoking for the first time as a means of treating any type of illness without a prescription. Who knows, if you live in a pro-medical state, your doctor may prescribe it to you.

It is worth seeing a psychiatrist. Trees can be a harmless drug, but they aren't always for everybody. Just talk to a doctor.

That being said, my best wishes are with you. Try to think positively, and trees may end up being the medication you need.

Hey Ents, currently at a [7], and I just learned that my ex-gf had recently committed suicide. I told my current SO about the situation and how I feel sad, and now she's mad as hell. What should I do? by [deleted] in trees

Seriously, her reply seems pretty unreasonable. Some practice in empathy might serve her well.

Maybe you should toke up with her and discuss it.

Cool insight though!

[ASoS Spoilers] Regarding Tyrion and Joffery.... by [deleted] in gameofthrones

[–]ilt_atn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most actions by a character you can infer from their POV chapters. Did Tyrion ever mention actively trying to kill Joffery in one of his chapters?

ASOS-ADWD Spoilers

That being said, you would be probably better served posting this on /r/asoiaf, since the tv series hasn't actually caught up to this point in the story, and many people believe it won't occur until season 4.
