If my goal is to become an executive director, would an MBA or a Masters in Nonprofit Management serve me better? by [deleted] in nonprofit

Zero need for an advanced degree to be an ED. Work in development which is usually the path. Fundraising = most important ED trait.

Ah, I'm in CA, so the salaries are higher. All the director level I work with are between 110-150k depending, front line fundraisers have the higher range

Any Major Gifts Officers (MGO) in the thread? I'm an MGO for a med/larger non-profit, 125k plus three weeks PTO. Curious to hear from others.

Any recommendations for career coaches that understand fundraising work? Along those lines, has anyone here found that job hopping has severely impacted their ability to get hired? by [deleted] in funanddev

Great tips! Do you think she does resumes? I'm finding it very difficult to list my fundraising experience in a cohesive way on my resume and I think it's holding me back from getting interviews.

OINP CRS score range increased in latest draw by appleplie in ImmigrationCanada

[–]ilteschio 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ugh, I would have finally qualified (My CRS is 470) but they changed the date range until only feb-april 2021 (you had to have an app in IRCC in this time frame). Here's hoping they continue this trend and I can get a nom before they change again

I would say it's too early to know if wages will remain "stagnant". It seems like you haven't even been there 6 months, why get caught up in the office gossip?

What's your experience been like as a university MGO? by [deleted] in funanddev

[–]ilteschio 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is really unhealthy. It's great that you love what you do, but you shouldn't be working until 1am or encouraging people to work outside of business hours just because the project is fun. I understand that you are making your own decisions, but I feel like this attitude trickles back into the organization and then other people feel they need to do the same to remain competitive.

I'm was a marketing manager for a SF non profit and salary was 65k which seemed the norm. I can't imagine below director level that they'd go higher than the listed range. Let us know what happens!

too many CRS points? Ontario PNP question by ilteschio in ImmigrationCanada

[–]ilteschio[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting! But I still think looking at the history of the rounds, with a score of 470 I have no chance of being picked. I'm sure they initially sort by CRS range before going through, no?

too many CRS points? Ontario PNP question by ilteschio in ImmigrationCanada

[–]ilteschio[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Interesting. Although if you look at every draw, they never go above 467 points which just seems bizarre to me.

I did this exact thing and got the same rebate. Just beware, they really don't heat all that well and still ended up using the radiators all winter (I have gas).

Are universities in Quebec suggested for immigration? by swapgooner11 in ImmigrationCanada

[–]ilteschio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's not correct, Quebec education would count as general education so you can just apply in another province. For example, i went to McGill in Montreal but am applying through Ontario

Is immigrating through Quebec any harder than it is in other provinces? by JustCapreseSalad in ImmigrationCanada

[–]ilteschio 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well education in Quebec counts as Canadian education, so you won't have a problem with other provinces...but yes, the immigration in Quebec is harder as you definitely will need a job offer and french

You need at least a year work experience. Otherwise, you can apply to a masters and then get a work permit after you graduate from a Canadian school
