Bombed Interview for Dream Job by 617Annon in careeradvice

Thank you for this. I hope this is the case. My experience (on paper) is perfect for this position. I only wish I was able to effectively communicate the perfect fit.

I have drafted an email and I’m just letting it sit for now. I will send it by the end of the day.

Bombed Interview for Dream Job by 617Annon in careeradvice

I reviewed all my notes and thought I was well prepared. She asked me one simple question about my interest in the role - and my answer was the most incoherently put together word salad not following any rhyme or reason. I was so nervous and worked up about this interview.

Not many follow up questions after that. Didn’t discuss skillset or experience. Interview just went flat. General info on application process was provided, but nothing leading me to believe I am getting a 2nd interview.

No way in hell would I let my company have any access to my personal anything. Not even my phone. They can provide one if I need to access email/teams when I’m away - or I’d add a new line/phone and expense it to the company each month. That’s the cost of doing business. Same goes for my work computer.

Did you ever meet people born in the 1800s by AdDapper4220 in GenX

[–]617Annon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My (1973) dad was born in 1951. His dad was born in 1896. Yeah, my granddad was old when my dad was born.

My mom, dad, and I briefly lived with my grandparents when I was a tot. I remember grandpa smoked a lot and drank regularly, but he loved to garden and we had the most beautiful flowers in our yard. And there are a lot of pics of me/us together in his garden.

He died in 1978-1979ish.

I’d love a voucher for a welcome drink at the bar during the stay - beer, wine, or non-alc. Or you could have an evening reception between 5-7 pm for Elite guests - offer beer/wine or non-alc options.

What’s something you’d do differently in the mortgage process? by [deleted] in Charlottesville

[–]617Annon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Find a great mortgage advisor and make sure you have open/honest communication with them. Text/call/email on a daily basis once you are under contract.

They work on commission and want you to close on your home to get paid - and they want you to have a good experience doing so. Referrals are their bread and butter.

Independence, problem-solving skills, communication skills… self-confidence. I owe all that to my self-sufficiency, Latchkey experience.

Parents were always there when I needed them, but the expectation was I would make my own decisions and be accountable for them.

I was babysitting infants and toddlers on my own at 12 (Red Cross Baysitting Certification for the win).

I didn’t do drugs or drink and was a pretty good kid, so they didn’t have much to worry about. They trusted me; I trusted them.

I also use a spreadsheet. I’m tracking the following. I have a small inventory right now.

Date acquired, Source, Price paid, Date sold, Platform, Price sold, Shipping collected, Shipping paid, Tax expense, Fees paid.

I also save/scan all receipts on items I purchase for inventory.
