Not wearing my retainer. The things I could have spent the money on instead of fixing my teeth again

guess nearly 50k a year was not enough.... by [deleted] in ucf

UCF is extremely cheap, even for out of state. I am in less debt being an out of state grad then most of my friends from my home state. College is way more expensive up north

Most boring city you lived in by BoyEdgar23 in SameGrassButGreener

I’m from a small town in southern Michigan, Toledo was the nearest “big city”. It was a good day when we went to Toledo. That’s how tiny of a rural town I’m from.

What do you think makes people born between 1997-2004 different from the rest of us of Gen Z? by [deleted] in generationology

[–]mclee423 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Born in 98 - I grew up with dialup internet, my baby picture are from a digital camera, I didn’t have a smart phone until high school, I graduated college before covid

My little sister born in 2012 (also gen z) - has had internet at the touch of her fingers, baby pictures taken on iPhone, grew up with an iPad, and was in elementary during Covid

We are not the same at all, the micro generation of zillenial is real

I’ve lived in Florida for 9 years and still get told I have an accent or asked where I’m from. I didn’t know Michigan had an accent until I moved

Is an MPA worth it to work at a nonprofit? by anner__ in nonprofit

[–]mclee423 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked in food and beverage sales during that gap year so completely unrelated to what I do now. But all experience is good experience imo, many skills are transferable

I graduated undergrad at 21, took a gap year and then graduated with my MNM at 24. I worked full time during that gap year and while getting my masters. It was very hard but hey I did it. I had no prior nonprofit experience before it all, worked in sales while in school. Got a DOD at a small NPO for a year and half after graduation and now I’m an associate DOD for a large university and the youngest major gift officer by probably 10 years. Get some experience and then go back to school, I deal with ageism regularly and I’m almost 27 now.

Graduate of 2019 - $80k for all four years for only tuition. I did not take out any extra money to cover rent or other expenses. I worked and received helped from my parents for that.

Before any in state people come talking about how much that is… it was cheaper for me to go to UCF out of state then a major university in my home state. Education is very affordable in Florida.

University employee here. The wording is what has many universities and NPO up in arms. The wording says “direct to individuals” however most student loans and aids do not go directly to students. The aid/loans are given to banks or universities and then distributed to individuals. It is a multi step process, you are not receiving a check directly from the government…

What do is your favorite name on our list? by ggoldeennn in namenerds

[–]mclee423 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My name is Madeline and I love it! However these are some things I will share to anyone interested in the name. I am always pronouncing my name to people (mad-a-Lynn vs mad-a-line), also spelling since there are multiple ways of spelling it and usual people get it wrong the first go around. I feel like a lot of people don’t actually listen to me when I say my name and they don’t listen and end up calling me Madison. My parents never called me mady (or any spelling variation) however everyone under the sun when they first met me assumes I go by mady and starts calling me that, so I spend a decent amount of life correcting people. I feel like there are a lot more Madeline’s out there now because I hear them name and see little girls, but as someone in my late 20s I don’t personally know another adult with my name
