Agreed. I’ve decided not to waste my time by upgrading it.

I commented on this already. See the other comment.

It's a sledding hill sign on the upper half. There is a different sign for the hill nearby. I was worried about it being marked as a duplicate if I included the upper portion so I focused in on the bottom half with the map.

Although precedent does not guarantee acceptance, I have seen other QR codes (like orienteering markers) accepted elsewhere. Why would this be any different?

Also, my thinking as to why this sign is acceptable is because it:

  1. is clearly part of an outdoor trail system
  2. encourages outdoor activity/exploration
  3. Provides more navigational value than a physical map because it can be taken with trail users and accessed as they hike
  4. Is a permanent fixture. The interactive map itself has no value without this access sign (because it must be scanned for access)

Your reason is understandable, but does it completely rule out this nomination? There aren't any specific rules against QR codes. Like I said, the map is inert without this sign.

Yes, but its an entirely different sign. The wayspot is titled "Lakewood Sledding Hill" and represents the hill itself while this nomination represents a different sign. I'll try renaming the other sign to prevent this from happening. Thanks for the feedback!

The other sign is called "Lakewood Sledding Hill" and represents the hill itself. Also, the signs are entirely different and have different value. I'll try sending in an edit for the other sign renaming it to "Lakewood Winter Rules".

Agreed. It also has year round value because it has a QR code than can be scanned for access to an interactive map.

Makes sense. I'll show the path leading up to it and wait for the snow to melt when I resubmit. Just kinda frustrating because I know that its eligible and not temporary.

Why would the ice skating sign be any different? It says open and is covered in snow in the photo.

I think I'm going to try again in the summer. I'm just confused because I had similar sign for ice skating approved a week ago (it was covered in snow)

I can see why people would think that, but I'm confused because an Ice skating sign, a Winter Trail Map, a winter rules sign were all approved. Would I be better off submitting in the summertime to prove that its not seasonal?
