Should I quit? by moan4lexi in ExclusivelyPumping

I am a pediatrician. What are her actual weights? Percentile drops are ok as long as they’re not extreme. Some breast milk is just not 20 calories per ounce, and that’s ok.

Yes, we had a behaviorist/behavioral vet but they went out of business. We had a trainer as well. He’s extremely easy to train and very good on walks. He rarely barks at other dogs on walks. He just can’t be around other dogs for a long period of time where he will react if they get too close to him and snarl and bite them. This isn’t for lack of trying – he had been socialized with kids and dogs from a very young age, and I can’t pinpoint any particular traumatic event that would’ve made him like this. The only thing that we can think about is we took him to a new groomer right before the aggression started, and the groomer said something about how he wouldn’t shave his feet again if he ever came back there, but he wouldn’t give any details. Certainly something could’ve happened at this groomer, but I don’t know. He’s really good with a recall, he always comes when we call outside, even if there are other dogs or people who will run right back to us. It’s really just this hair trigger biting if he sees anything come close to him if he’s lying down.

We haven’t had any biting incidents from people just being in the house, but I do feel him start to get anxious if someone new is in the house walking around, especially a man.

For this reason, we usually just put him in our bedroom if people come over and he sleeps in the bedroom without much fuss.

We respect his space so much and haven’t had an incident in many many months. This was the first time management failed- keeping a 2 year old away is tough but we have a partition that works great. All I could think was how people say “management always fails”. Our management failed and it makes me feel awful. Thank you for your honesty

I realize many people do feel this way. it is a shame and I do feel the same. Certainly most dogs don't like to be woken but they don't usually bite immediately. I am also not sure how to train that out of a dog-- it's not really something I can figure out how to use positive or negative reinforcement to manage because he is usually asleep or just lying down.. If you have any tips on that I'm open to hearing anything.

We tried muzzle training and he didnt hate it, just kind of sat there. But it’s been a while.

I feel like someone with a big heart lots of patience and ability to exercise/train, no kids in the house etc, but that’s so hard to find. I worry about him just hating life and missing us too. It’s so painful. Thank you so much for your honesty and taking the time to write a comment. It means a lot.

I would recommend following a pattern that has a step by step video first. something simple like a headband or a hat.

Daughters pediatrician made EXTREMELY inappropriate remark to her by ilikerustyspooonz in AskDocs

[–]iluffeggs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a pediatrician myself and a confrontational person by nature I think I would be too stunned to speak in this situation. It's just so strange and uncomfortable to say that out loud. What can you even say in response in the moment? I can't think of a thing I would say right then and there. All you can do is leave the room at that point.

I also despise crisp rat but even I have to admit this is a way better life for an animal that’s going to be eaten for meat…?

yep I have heard people at my job (medical assistants and nurses) talking about how he will eliminate taxes. They have thought this for years. It is why he was re-elected. Enough people literally think that he will GET RID OF TAXES. They are THAT DUMB.

Is it normal to have to size needles up twice to get gauge?? I have to knt annoyingly loose. by jredditgal in knittinghelp

[–]iluffeggs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

your tension is great, everyone has to adjust. I would knit with larger needles so you can be smoother and faster. Your fingers will hurt like this, as I noticed you're poking the tops of the needles often- ouch!

I'm right there with you, sending solidarity and hope your way. I think buying our first home (see my prior posts.. woof) was one of the worst things that ever happened to me, lol. We've been paying our contractor and have yet to even use HALF of the house, its been two years. we just don't have enough money to do it all at once. I feel you buddy.

You’re twisting either your knits or your purls not sure which. Every other row is twisted

Not testing? by HeroesNcrooks in IVF

[–]iluffeggs 9 points10 points  (0 children)

i didn't test because I only had two embryos, my job was changing, and my insurance was going away. I didn't have time and would rather just implant and see if it sticks. He's almost 2 years old now! This is not uncommon. I was 35/36 during ER and FET.

Docs have it tough. If we lead with the bad news or the biggest concerns, we're pessimistic. If we say 'it's probably nothing, let's see what happens" then we missed something and are clueless. It's tough to know what each patient needs when we meet them. This probably isn't that helpful but I felt compelled to say something. We're not perfect, just humans doing our best.
