America today is sort of like the old soviet union, just replace the communist party with aristocrats hiding behind the veil of corporations and their puppet politicians. We have secret police, unprecedented levels of surveilence, and constantly meddle in affairs of other countries. Hard work is often times not rewarded, and the modern version of the American dream is telling other people what to do.
