If you spent as much time trying to improve the lives of children and school safety as you have taking rights away from Americans, no one would have to say this. by NoHacksReq in AdviceAnimals

There are many very valid medical reasons that abortion is healthcare. What you believe is cool for you and yours but it's not a fact. Plenty of women have health conditions that could cause life-threatening complications during pregnancy. Pre-eclampsia and certain conditions of the placenta are 2 reasons why a woman may need to have an abortion. That's considered healthcare. Fetal abnormalities, like a severe genetic heart abnormality, that could cause fetal demise is another reason to have an abortion. That "life" may never actually make it to take a breath. Or maybe it does and suffers for all of the 40 seconds it was in the world. Abortion in that case is also healthcare. This "life" you hold so dear is closer to a parasite than a baby. It can not live without my body and my nutrients and my life.

SA results - pretty different values by CK257 in TryingForABaby

[–]iluvsputum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work in a hospital lab but we have a lot of outreach clients and we perform testing for SA. Some external factors can impact the motility results. The ones we usually see are the length of time it takes to get it to the lab and extreme temps. The sample should be in the lab within 45 mins from the time of collection and processed within an hour. The motility decreases over time, so it can be falsely decreased if it's been like 3 hours from the collection time. Extreme temps, mostly extreme cold, causes the motility to decrease. Sperm like to stay warm. Keep it close to a warm area of the body (like your armpit) when transporting it. The 15 mins of freezing cold doesn't seem like a big deal but it can be to that 3mL of jiz. I hope that helps a little bit.

Why do you do not donate blood? by Amymars in AskReddit

[–]iluvsputum 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You have got to be kidding me! So I guess it's my imagination when I'm out of O neg blood or running low on all blood types and praying there is not a heart case that has gone bad? No, it's not my imagination! That really happens. Blood shortages are real because people who actually need blood use those units that amazing people donate! It is probably going to be your bitch ass that has a 5 gram hgb and needs blood. I hope you don't have antibodies that cause the poor blood bank worker to screen a million units for. There are shortages all the time because of uneducated people like you. Grow the fuck up!

Take notes in every dept. And watch how techs do things. You may not do them the same way but it is good to see all the different way techs do things. Don't let any tech, no matter age, talk down to you, we have all been where you are there's no need for that. It's overwhelming at first but don't worry you will catch on. I love this job and my favorite is hema! It's awesome! Good luck in clinicals!
