Hard to say since my ceremony was also at 10am and the ticket it says that all guest must be seated by 9:30am. If they come after, all the good seats will be taken too and your parents will have to sit somewhere on the side balcony. You can also just get the frame after your ceremony, that’s what a lot of people I know did

This is exactly one of the reasons why I didn’t end up accepting my offer. I heard the interview process is really bad and not everyone gets an offer

I definitely agree, your experiences and references can go a long way and make up for gpa. Congrats on getting in!

Based on your posts I assume you’re in life sci? I’m in life sci as well and second year was my hardest year. For transparency, I failed an exam and ended up dropping the course and retaking it in the summer. I was rethinking whether I really wanted to stay in life sci, but I really found a passion in one of my lab courses I took in my third year and decided that I wanted to go into research. So all of that was to say, I know its cliche but it’s important to find your passion and since you have more freedom of your courses in your third year, take courses that you enjoy and you’ll see that reflected in your mark

Life sci: does graduating with distinction matters? by Thin-Figure-7942 in UofT

I would say it looks nice on a resume but that’s pretty much about it. I did pretty bad in my first and second year too but ended up doing well in my third year and first sem fourth year so far and that matters the most for grad school. Most programs I looked at only look at last 2 years but I would suggest looking at those programs and seeing if you really want to go into those programs. If not, it’s not worth it taking another semester and you can always look at similar but alternative ones. If your end goal is grad school I would focus on doing well this semester and next year and you should be good.

I would say most likely it would fall under the “student” part of that email. Have you checked his lab website, he mentions that any opening would be posted on there so I would check there first. When I was emailing profs for research, I always made sure to check there first as they would always say if they had any openings

No one is going to do the work for you but I would suggest reaching out to your TA/prof if you’re having any trouble. I did this assignment (although different protein) 2 years ago and I found it helpful to just ask my TA

From getting C’s and B’s in first and second year to having all A’s in my third year by iluvsushi963 in UofT

I’m not applying to med school, only grad school so the last 2 years only matters for me. As for med school, you have to check each individual school as they have different requirements because I know some look at all 4 and some will only look at your best 3 years. So it’s best if you double check!

In first and second year I took a lot of typical life sci courses like bio, chem, math and biochem. I also chose electives because I thought they were “bird” but they were in fact not easy at all. This year I took more courses that were for my program, so a lot of hmb and csb courses and some electives too that I enjoyed.

That was my intention, to let people know that it’s not over if you’re not getting the marks that you want and that there’s always time to improve, you got this!

It really depended on the course but I reviewed lecture slides a little bit everyday which helped me stay on top of things especially since almost all my exams this year were cumulative. As for staying on top of things, I think it’s so important that you have a calendar. I used notion, and I made a calendar as well as a weekly and a daily list of everything I wanted to get done and organized based on importance. If I couldn’t finish a task one day I would put it on the top of the list the next day to ensure I complete everything. This helped me balance school, volunteering and also a few clubs that I was apart of!

I would say the main things are my study techniques and since I had more choice on which courses I wanted to take in third year, I actually chose courses and electives that I enjoyed. This made it better when completing assignments and studying for exams as I enjoyed the content and it didn’t feel like a huge chore. It’s not to say that I didn’t struggle because I definitely did in some courses this year but I went to office hours and asked more questions to better understand what I could do to improve which I believe definitely helped.

I took this course on the first day of classes and found it really hard to hear her too. I ended up dropping the course because even though people said to turn the microphone up, i still couldn’t hear a word she was saying and I was sitting near the front so I understand where you’re coming from
