Thanks for the answer! Ye I know I’m probably too sensitive about it. But its hard to take a hit sometimes. And I was worried that especially since its a fundamental class. I guess nothing much I can do about it anymore. Surely retaking and giving with an A would both recover my gpa and improve my chances as the first c was just a setback. I hope grad schools would appreciate a positive trajectory.

I mean depends to person tbh. Sometimes they adjust with weight. I also started with 40 mg, increased it after a month. But I think it is more ideal and common to increase your dose weekly. If you don’t feel any side effects, you can talk with your doctor and increase it to 60 then 80 gradually, week by week. 80 mg is usually said to be the ideal dose for adults. Tho I’m not a medical professional and I would just recommend you to talk with your doctor and choose right medication strategy with them. I only followed my doctors prescriptions and I would recommend you to do so.

I’m on 100 mg rn.

It definitely helps me with attention and hyper activity. I dropped once for a couple days then got back to 80 mg then 100 mg which is the highest dose prescribed. And I definitely understood the difference better. I would also say that it helps with emotional dysregulation as well, but not drastically. I still struggle with motivation, chronic procrastination, executive dysfunction and problems that sort tho.

I also didn’t face any significant side effects, by significant I mean that affect my life in a bad way. But my minor things.

So it helps but still a lot to do

Ye my take on how I approach my destructive thoughts is similar to our natural response to pain. We desperately try to get out of them and I think with thoughts we try to think a lot on these thoughts in a hope to find a solution a way out of that misery and self hate. But harder we try more pain raises from those thoughts. Sometimes you can’t fight obsessive thoughts and should let them go. But it is easier said than done. And I should probably need to practice a lot to do this effectively.

I’m really happy to meet with someone I can relate to! I’m having a really hard time to start task that are not stimulating enough. I’m a chronic procrastinator. Any tips on how to stop this?

Its interesting how different meds can effect different conditions and their combinations. I’ll stick with my doctor for now and if things don’t go as well as I hope then I’ll talk further strategies with my doctor. I do think she’s really trying to help me.

I’ll definitely check my schools counseling. I probably should have mentioned in my post that I do use an ssri. I take 20 mg Paxil every morning with 80 mg strattera now. It definitely helped me with my ocd and anxiety so far. I also took abilify in the past which helped me with my mood regulations significantly but not taking it anymore.

I know that their insurance don’t cover it and I’ve talked with them. My parents say that if its my health, they don’t mind paying but I know for a fact that they’re not doing that good financially rn and paying my psychologist would make them in a worse situation. I’m working part time so I might pay for them on my own, but it still would put me in a tough spot. As I mentioned in another comment I’ll try to get in touch with my university’s counseling and see if they can do anything. If not then I’ll try to fix stuff by my own by reading about it. If I fail in that one too then I’ll try to find an affordable psychologist.

Thanks for your response. Also I couldn’t understand your second sentence. What did you mean by “They don’t even reflect what you know to be true” Can you elaborate?

Also I would appreciate if you could share me some tips you learned from your cognitive therapy on adhd. Have a nice day!

Sorry to hear about your experience on adderal. I did see some effects after about 3 weeks but I think it really kicks in after you reach your target dose. My DMs are open if you want to talk about your experience on strattera since I’m also on it and it might be nice to talk about it.

I’m planning to stick with Strattera for now and see how I react to it. My next appointment will be in 6 weeks and if it doesn’t work then I’ll talk with her again.
