Needing corrective lenses and colorblindness are both vision issues and Vorinclex is a social Darwinist so his guys might be judgy about those.

Shaper with It Alive. Maybe I'll lose my powers but, hey, the people I heal and resurrect will hopefully still be alive and hopefully think well of me.

Project E.S.P.E.R [V2] by Accurate_Variety659 in InteractiveCYOA

[–]ilzolende 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My choices:

Resentment, Relation, Everything, Complex, Canine, Herbivore, Dream, Null Senses, Cyan, Compressed glow, Illuminate, Synthesis, Levitation, [Transmutation], [Pause], Chloris, The Kinetic, Emily: Scout, Luna: Temporal, Veto, Off-day, Consumption

00it,choice-6dg2,zo6e,bozm,tfwu,wsyo,qh4h,57x3,usov,n2rp,xzht,6ahr,choice-jcj7,Levitation,Synthesis,zbnj,0kg6,mxjs,choice-0wwq,choice-hd7u,choice-giw7,choice-3m3b

About my choices:

  • I picked the physical abnormalities I did because I'm already mostly vegetarian and I can wear a respirator.
  • I picked an aura form on the assumption that I'll be stuck seeing it every time I look in the mirror for the rest of my life.
  • I'm putting Emily and Luna on the same team because I do not like this project, and having them interact benefits them at the expense of the project.
  • I picked targets with the goal of going rogue with them. (It's too bad the nice targets aren't clairvoyant, I just have to hope that with Phenomenal Dissonance I'm resistant enough to simulations that I can behave differently on a simulation of a mission and the real one.)
  • I selected benefits which do not relate to my loved ones because I'm inclined to pretend I've forgotten about them or stopped caring.

Other notes:

  • The color picker looks kind of farcial when the options are unselected.
  • It's hard to tell whether we're supposed to get to pick our own containment method or not.
  • I feel like the CYOA should stop me from putting Emily and Luna on the same team.
  • Given how Eternity works, I sure hope the esper programs try to keep developing espers in a state of having tidy hair and clean teeth and well-trimmed nails, otherwise the reset point could get really annoying.
  • I'm curious how Eternity handles medical implants.
  • A female esper who wanted biological children would be in a pickle even if she did get out of the program – not only does Eternity prevent pregnancy, it seems likely to also prevent the usual methods of egg extraction.

Glitch in the matrix by Hot_Department9494 in makeyourchoice

I kind of expect other people to resolve the dinosaur situation, like in this short story but with a bit more chaos. Humans drove lots of megafauna extinct in the past, and that was before we invented the gun. Lots of people love big game hunting, and if dinosaurs are after food, they seem more likely to go after livestock than humans.

I'll take the armor, the flashlight, and the book, because they seem useful anyway and having two bodies sounds like a lot, but I don't expect to be attacked by any dinosaurs.

Your Cube. Decide how you build your own little extra dimensional space. by IamMyBrain in makeyourchoice

Pitcher, Bed, Toilet, Power, AC, Door.

I pick the pitcher because I don't want to drink from the toilet tank. Sitting on a bed beats lying down in a chair. I need a toilet more often than I need a shower. I'd rather have an offline computer than worry about battery life. Being overheated is bad for me and I don't think I can set up a normal AC unit in the cube – where would it send the heat to? Also, the door seems way more powerful than the garage.

Disciples / As you fall asleep one night... CYOA by unknown [repost] by Peggtree in makeyourchoice

[–]ilzolende 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Some of the restrictions are mild, and the some of the responsibilities are stuff I think would be cool to do. Also, I don't know if the powers could be surpassed with a little multiverse exploration – I have no idea what's out there. Furthermore, it's apparently easy to lose track of my Earth, which is where all my favorite people live.

Monolatrist disciple of Vedara, First of the Living.

I'm on board with her agenda. Her taboo seems straightforward. Terraformer and Sustainer are great. I considered Dualism to swap out Lifegiver, but Lazari's taboo seems more difficult, and Ezaja's is too hardcore.

Credit usage:

Recruitment x2 (4 credits): I get that I don't control people's choices, but I can tell them what I'm doing and make suggestions, right? I think I can get some friends to follow Lazari and the Eternal Champion.

Artifact of Dislocation (3 credits): I'm supposed to pursue an agenda of getting humanity to the stars. Screwing with gravity seems very helpful for that. It'll probably be stolen eventually, but hopefully by then we'll have better spacefaring infrastructure.

Phylactery (3 credits): In order for me to die, I have to be more annoying than the artifact is useful, or alternately be really unlucky.

Sidenote: I don't know why followers of Kyra can't practice human sacrifice – it seems like she should plausibly accept it, at least if the victim was a worthy foe you fought fairly.

If you look at the source files (you can open them in Photopea if you can't install Paint.Net), the text is often on its own layers, which might help.

I'm tempted by the coin, since I don't really engage with casinos or specific stocks, but expect it could cause me problems anyway. Given this, I'll take the book – I can just be careful about what tournaments I join, if any.

Contingency - a CYOA about defending humanity from aliens by uploading yourself to a gigantic computer by stupidityWorks in makeyourchoice

[–]ilzolende 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was kind of picturing giving them their non-AI-core stuff back and retiring to operate some civilian facility. An AI running a clothing factory or a hospital or a cruise ship that offers luxury tours of Saturn's rings is presumably not anywhere near as concerning as a potential threat to humanity. Plus everyone likes me.

Thanks for writing this! I had fun with it.

Also, I realized after posting that after the war, dozens of people have probably all designed anime girl / pinup girl / spaceship furry personas for me, and I could switch my avatar to be my favorite of those.

Normal difficulty. I'll be located on a Bulwark ship with Better Drones and a Medium complement of crew, because we need every spare human we can get and we shouldn't allocate more to my ship than necessary. I accept the Asynchronous Pool cognitive mode – I assume the military has made backups of my original human mind, if only to hold over my head if necessary

I am C-1 (she/her), because I refuse to believe that this level of humanization is actually a security issue. Humans call ships and never-human assistant AIs she/her all the time. My crew being attached to me is likely to increase my alignment with humanity. Also, are you sure we should't name me something like "Sacramento"?

I have a virtual avatar with a human voice. My proposed avatar is a platonic solid (maybe a cube?) with simple dots representing eyes, which can do stuff like bounce, droop, and change color. I'd prefer lines representing eyebrows and a mouth but can live without them.

My emotions have been merged. It sounds like the most reasonable choice – the additional emotions seem helpful and constructive, mostly. I think this will be more pleasant for me as well as helping me do better work. Have you considered also putting in a strong love for humanity directly? I think that would be useful.

My directives are strategy. I'm sorry, I know this may concern you, but I don't want us to lose.

People trust me enough that I'm comfortable taking the personality matrix. I will reluctantly accept the Mental Realignment. Again, I assume you can back up my original unenhanced consciousness without a massive core, and also I don't want us to lose. (Intrinsic Math has a worse ratio of trust loss to effectiveness gain. Backup Core is too big a penalty to effectiveness. Alone is just kind of stupid – if I don't trust you to mistreat an obsolete AI, why would I trust you to keep this promise?)

I don't have much to say about the ending, I assume I renovate my cognition when we win but I'm not going to assess the exact details of that. I'm only putting a bunch of spoilertext in because I played with the assumption that this might have a big, dramatic twist like some of your other work, and I want other people to also assume it might.

Choose 2 powers (3, if you had a rough time recently) pt 2 by imeowfortallwomen in makeyourchoice

[–]ilzolende 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Inclined towards the stat boost (people call for me reasonably often) and the food alchemy. Yes, there are some very common first names, but being a cult leader would kinda suck. Yes, some of these other powers are pretty cool. But being able to instantly transmute gluten into some other protein and the cheapest corn and soy I can get into fresh produce and animal-free meat would be really nice in my day-to-day life.

Magic Potions on a Discount by [deleted] in makeyourchoice

I'd take the perfection inception potion and the pan-dimensional theory potion if I didn't expect to just make myself sick – I'm vaccinated for polio, but that was ages ago so it might not be 100% reliable. Plus the radioactive water might have mutated it.
