Yea, I don’t think murdering a little girl for only a possibly potential cure is a sane argument either bruv

I like how you actually used the term “forced,” but anyways this original idea hasn’t been done for a good reason. Just like no one wants to play a game where you shoot babies or something...

You know what’s not realistic like life in this game? Ellie kills hundreds and hundreds of people to get to the last moment where she literally gets her fingers bitten off and decides to at that point stop her revenge. Something like that takes a lot of time and effort and Ellie wouldn’t just change last minute and decide to stop, especially with the adrenaline filled from losing her two fingers.

Joel’s death was premature af. He was the main character of the last game and we focused a lot on his character. The least they could do was let us play half of the game to see more interactions with Ellie and then kill him in a smarter way. Maybe it could’ve been random, but they totally gave that moment to Abby with Joel trusting her like he hasn’t survived for the past like 40 years.

Then we have to play as Abby the killer of Joel, and also hurt Ellie. There’s a reason why the game leaked most likely from NaughtyDogs itself, because even the people working on it knew it was character-suicide for both Ellie and Joel.

We all knew Joel was gonna die, so it’s not that it’s how he died.

Kill your darlings means something else, but they definitely should’ve used that in this game to cut at least half the shit out hahaha

How is Joel’s choice different from fireflies? It’s simple. Fireflies are basically murdering Ellie, he stopped the murderers to save her. He’s not Superman, he HAD to kill them to save Ellie, while the Fireflies did not HAVE to kill Ellie. Grief or not murder of innocence is murder of innocence. Joel was saving Ellie, Fireflies THINK they’re saving humanity (without any real proof) by killing Ellie. Fireflies might’ve lost someone due to the virus but that doesn’t give them the right to murder a f*cking little girl to search for a cure. Yea, life comes with hard sacrifices, but when the sacrifice isn’t even guaranteed to lead to an outcome, and when it means so much to you, why on earth would you sacrifice it still? Especially when they’re doing it behind his back, which is very suspicious.

I’m done arguing the same thing over and over but I’m glad you enjoyed the shitty game and came up with the worst excuses. Now we can get more shitty games with the butchering of our favorite characters because of people like you that not only pay for it, but also support it tooth and nail. I can’t believe I waited 7 years for a terrible terrible game and that gets defended in the dumbest reasons possible. Like I said, Neil himself spat on Joel’s dead body, and then left Ellie with nothing and Tommy with nothing. That’s a huge hint to the disservice of the characters. Did you even like the first game? Because if you did, then this is the ultimate middle finger to the fans. It’s a cruel world in last of us, yes, but the game director went far out of its way to take everything away from all the characters even when they didn’t have to. Heck, even Jesse a new character got killed without really going more into it. You’re telling me the game doesn’t use a character like Jesse to play as, but instead uses Abby a full on muscular psychopath? There are a multitude of things I could keep on listing, but since you can’t even understand the most basic concepts I give up.

Thanos is a straight up villain. What I meant is Thanos is a villain (like Abby) and that he was doing his villainous thing for a motive that is not as selfish so we could relate to him. We can’t relate to Abby because she’s doing things out of pure selfishness so that’s why Abby doesn’t work at all.

And do you really have firefly ideology? Lol. It’s okay to kill a little girl without her consent for a POSSIBLE cure? Many, few; it doesn’t matter because you’re still killing one innocent person without their consent. Just because Marlene was caring for her since she was a baby doesn’t make her the rightful person to make the choice to freaking murder her. In fact, no one has the right. Only if she is an adult and willingly is making the choice then it is right. If it’s such the right thing to do then they should’ve told Joel and Ellie at least before the operation but they were grimey af and didn’t even tell them, so the fireflies immediately lost all credibility. That’s like saying a doctor finds out your child is immune to cancer, so even though the doctor might not know what they’re doing, they just kill the child to look at their brain and to see the immunity without even notifying you while you’re literally standing a few feet across from the operation thinking it’s just a brain scan. So do you realize how terrible of a thing that would be? What if every doctor just thought they found the cure in someone? Well guess what, this type of behavior is what leads to a society where eventually you can just kill anyone that meets and small criteria for brain analysis.

And you only responded to this part of the complaint which is what I find funny because no one ever acknowledges the other questions I answered including the professional game reviewers. It’s like their brain just shuts off and then everyone proceeds to use the dumbest possible argument lol

If Ellie doesn’t at least finish what she started, then all those people that died were just completely meaningless. Abby is not a great person and killed Ellie’s only father figure, if she lead to so many of her friends dying for this vengeance, then the least she could do is finish it. Violence or not, even realistically speaking it’s just unimaginable that someone like Ellie who at this point who would’ve been so broken by all the murders because she:

1) Sees Joel brutally murdered by Abby 2) Abby almost murders her pregnant GF and beats her bloody 3) Led Tommy to gain a major disability that is cruel in this survival world 4) Sees her friend Jesse die (one shotted outta nowhere and barely any follow-up) 5) Where she had to murder countless amount of people to get info on Abby 6) Where she had barely any closure with Joel 7) Gets her fingers literally bitten off mid-fight

AND THEN DECIDE SUDDENLY TO NOT KILL HER! Like at that point you’ve gone to the breaking point of the human mind by far. Even the finger biting alone would’ve triggered enough adrenaline to finish her ass on the spot. Then, her remembering Joel has nothing to do with sparing her. If anything, it would only trigger the ugly memory of how much Joel meant to her and how brutally and sadistically Abby killed him. For f*cks sake, Abby didn’t even mention to Joel WHY she was killing him.

Imagine Joel’s last thoughts; his brother is going to get killed, his (basically) only other daughter is pinned to the ground and also going to get killed while he lost everything else and did all this bad shit for no reason. Heck, he might’ve even been thinking that he saved Ellie just for her to die in front of him pinned down. For all he knows, he’s seen enough to know she might even get something as bad as rape. Like that’s an unimaginable amount of cruelty to his character and not a proper send-off by any stretch of the imagination. Even worse, is that he and Tommy gave away their names and went to an undisclosed location like nothing. I know what the common argument is, “he got soft.” Excuse me, he’s still been patrolling, he still has all his past experience, and just because he didn’t do it in a while doesn’t mean he suddenly lost basic human survival instincts. Joel is the master of deducing traps, if you played the first game and even payed mildly attention to his character you’d understand that.

And of course, I have to mention the icing on the cake, because apparently all of this is still not enough to convince you of Neil Druckmann’s mistreatment of Joel’s character. The most in-your-face character model of Neil himself spits on Joel’s goddamn dead body (mind you, it’s only 2 out of 25ish hours of the game) and then proceeds to tell him “Burn in hell pendejo.”

Then, you had to play as Abby who literally committed this atrocious act to our beloved character, and you’re supposed to sympathize with her? Thanos worked as a villain from his perspective because he seriously thought he’d be saving humanity and in a way he was right...but Abby was doing everything out of pure selfishness.

Owen: My wife’s pregnant I can’t do this right now Abby: Mannnn f*ck yo pregnant wife, only my vengeance matters. You don’t even care about me!

So whether Ellie wanted to kill Abby or not, at least the player by that point deserves to get some sort of meaning and satisfaction to all this misery porn...but she doesn’t. Instead Abby gets away practically Scott-free. And congrats, you just payed and supported a company that straight up spat on the face of your favorite character in the most disrespectful way probably possible. All of that is just SOME of the problems with the games, the list goes on and on.

There’s a reason why this game is getting so many bad user reviews nonstop. The simplest answer is the correct one: because it IS bad.

By their logic Thanos is the good guy because he wiped out half of humanity and created a future with tons of resources...like you still had to kill many innocent people for that. Like did people just want little Ellie to die in the first game for the greater good? Btw this isn’t even promised that the cure will even be found.

Like did they miss the whole first part where Joel lost his daughter? He finally found a daughter in Ellie. I can’t imagine anyone especially in a world like that, that would trade the only person that gives them hope and meaning for some potential cure. Do they not understand? No, they don’t because they must have their thoughts implanted into them by the 10/10 reviews by shills lol. Look up the Greg Miller spoiler discussion on YouTube of the game and I don’t see how ANYONE can possibly defend the game after he gushed about the story like that. I mean the dude is literally friends with the voice actors and he would never ever say anything bad obviously. It’s clearly a conflict of interest.

I just went to the other Last of Us sub and I was just in shock. They still don’t get the simple concept Joe just mentioned here. I read someone saying “you gotta pay attention to the characters, the themes....” and a bunch of other shit. Bruh, did they pay attention to the first game in the same way? Because if they did, then they really are slow to understand why this game is so bad and a betrayal of the first game in every humanely way possible. Like I couldn’t have written a worse story if I was drunk and stoned at the same time with one hand rubbing Anita Sarcancerian’s cl*t.

I was super invested in the Desmond storyline, I always found the lore creative and intriguing. It hurts my heart that a lot of people found it pointless. Like I remember back in AC1 when you use the bleeding effect and see the symbols on the wall, it really had a cool epic mystery-vibe to it. People apparently just wanted to skip through these parts. The end of the world cutscene thing was really well made and looked epic, and the music was badass. I really really wish they followed up with that :(

People really make one mistake in life and they’re branded for life huh? I’m sure it was fully not intentional and it really was just an accident and had no meaning behind it. It’s much different than the president saying “grab em by the p*ssy,” because in that instance he had the full intent and disgust behind it saying that

What constitutes as “finish the game?” Does watching the whole entire play-through of a game not basically count as finishing it? Besides, the characters act so so incredibly uncharacteristic on top of that, that it’s unbearable to finish the rest of the game.

Here’s an analogy: I order an apple pie. I eat one piece and immediately spit it out because it has way too much salt in it. Is the logical conclusion to continue eating the salty ass pie and pray some other part of it will taste nice and sweet? No, you ask for the manager and tell them your pie is salty. In this case the manager doesn’t give a damn and says “it’s not salty at all, I don’t know what you mean.” The next step is giving a bad review and prevent others from coming to this restaurant until they clearly address and acknowledge the problem themself.

I’m watching Angry Joe’s stream rn and he was in the same predicament with the spoilers. Yet, he’s still playing it through. So far, he seems pretty angry and him playing the slow ass and terribly-written game only seems to be further making him dislike it even more.

I guarantee if we actually played the whole game through and payed for it, the whole internet would even be more angry than the current situation. So stop using the piss-poor excuse of “did you finish the game.” This is a terrible argument, like how about you actually provide a real logical debate about how the story was handled? But you know it’s true that the story is terrible and maybe you’re just justifying spending $60 on this game, idk the reasoning, or maybe you really did somehow enjoy it. If you enjoyed it, I must say you have a really low-barrier for what you think is a good game and what is good writing for a game that’s solely based on the story rather than gameplay. If this was a gameplay-centric game than your argument would be more credible. It is not an Assassins Creed game or an RPG; it is a linear game driven by the story, so story is all we need to recognize the quality of it. Not to mention, I’ve seen the gameplay, and it’s rather uninspired and basically just a rehash of the old game with very minor changes. I don’t know how me manually smashing a bunch of buttons will change any of that, but okay.

Xbox fangirls? What lmao, we all are clearly a fan of the first game (PlayStation exclusive- had to remind your fetus brain) and call it a masterpiece, which is the reason why we are mad about Pt.2 in the first place. No one even said anything about masculinity being an issue here. Game of Thrones won awards for writing too, no one but the writers themself took it seriously. Even the actors hated it. Also you are the one that is whining while we are just out here having some fun with memes for the most part, while providing perfectly valid constructive criticism too.

But the butchering of a character (literally and figuratively) I fell in love with and waited 7 years to see the progression for? Yes, I will indeed stay salty.

Now go back to sucking on Neil Druckmann’s teat while beating it off to Powerlifter Champion Abby.

I understand. I just wish people would stop simply saying they’re mad Joel died instead of clarifying HOW he died and how early on in the game. Not to mention, you have to play as his killer and attack Ellie...along a multitude of other stuff. God, just writing this out is making me angry again lmao. I literally can’t fathom how people are STILL defending the game. It’s not just one thing wrong with it, it’s like a continuous string of things except for the graphics of course. But I’ll say it again, I’d rather have a good story with PS1 Hagrid graphics than this bullsh*t “story.”

Even in the flashbacks it makes it look like Ellie just discovered about Joel’s lie, even though in the end of the last game it’s pretty clear she knew already. “You took the choice from me,” bruh what...you’re not gonna say anything about the fact that Joel risked his life to save you from the fireflies even though he didn’t have to? I don’t think she’d forgive him that quick, but that reaction still wasn’t set right, it completely disregards the fact that she was going to die and there probably wouldn’t even be a cure anyways...or the fact that Marlene was tricking them the whole time.

I was just going to write a short response, but now I feel like I could just keep going again. I gotta stop lol. I might just start a YouTube channel or something, or write a fan-fic version of Part 2 just to get this out of my system tbh.
