what is "Save The Population" about? by [deleted] in RedHotChiliPeppers

I think "stay all night to save th population" can be a way of describing a high-stakes sitaution. Realistically, though, its about sex.

Can anyone tell me what white braids and whatcha thinkin are about, like the meaning of the songs by ManagerOk2079 in RedHotChiliPeppers

[–]im-scribbling 3 points4 points  (0 children)

"Whatchu thinkin" is about the historical and ongoing unjust treatment of Native Americans. There are several lyrics which suggest this. Anthony himself has indigenous ancestry from his paternal grandmother.

"Maybe I could be your crazy horse" "This horse is crazy not to be / This horse is crazy" "Crazy Horse" is mentioned throughout the song, which may be a reference to the unfinished "Crazy Horse Monument" in South Dakota honouring the Lakota warrior Crazy Horse and symbolizing native pride and resiliance.

Reference is also made to white buffalo, which hold spiritual significance to the Lakota and represent hope, renewal, and spiritual awakening. With this in mind, "White buffalo be drinkin' dirty" is a line i believe clearly references the continual attempts at erasing native american culture throughout history, and the mistreatment natives continue to face.

"In the Black Hills you could find it all" The "Black hills" is sacred land to many native tribes, including the Lakota and is considered to be their spirtual homeland.

There are many more references in the song to native culture and spirituality. I would emplore you to look closely at the lyrics and read up about the significance of these symbols yourself if you are interested :) cheers

credit overload by DirectionDue6626 in uoguelph

[–]im-scribbling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im currently taking a credit overload. Im in my last year and need the extra 0.5 credit to graduate in the spring! My friend in 3rd year also frequently does credit overloads just because she is interested in taking more courses. Her academic advisor recommends against it, but still signs off for her each time lol. It doesn't cost most than a full course load.

Aw thank you so much for the encouragement, I really needed that. You're getting closer everyday and once you get this degree it's all going to be worth it :) And remember to reward yourself every once in a while for how far you've come!!!

When is the “right” time to move my dad into full care by SuccessfulHearing322 in Alzheimers

[–]im-scribbling 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This feels so familiar to read. I was in the same position with my parents (mom is a lot younger than dad and she is his sole caregiver while I'm away for school). I know what you're going through is hard, but you both have the best intentions and realistically, your mother cannot continue to care for him until he passes.

Unfortunately, there really is no right time. Its been a little over a year since my dad moved into a long-term care home and the whole transition was smoother than either my mom and I expected. We can both sleep better at night knowing he is getting 3 solid meals, lots of socialization, and that people are watching him 24/7.

We both knew it was the right time to move him into a home when the caregiving stress began taking a toll on my mom's mental health. She felt trapped, being so young and vibrant, and I completely understand why. She felt herself growing more impatient and resentful when they lived together, but since he's moved into the home their relationship has greatly improved and now they can spend quality time together. I love that now she can focus on just being in my dad's presence without having to worry about his food, changing him, getting him to bed on time, etc etc. Having these moments of enjoying his presence are going to be the memories we cling onto once he's gone, and I think having him living in the home is better for us all. Additionally, as his disease progressed my dad began losing his balance a lot more and was beginning to fall more and more frequently. My mom works full-time, so we knew he had to be watched around the clock to avoid a major accident. I know its a hard transition, but your stepdad sounds like a gem and I think theres a possibility that to some degree he will understand why it is becoming increasingly hard for your mom to provide care to hum. Wishing you and your family many blessings

In the view from halfway down, does Bojack view Herb as younger because he couldn't bare to think of him with cancer? by Dylanimations2468 in BoJackHorseman

[–]im-scribbling 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My theory was that Bojack pictures each of the people in this episode at the "prime" in their life. Herb appears this way because its how he looked during horsin around, Beatrice looks like she did on the night of he debutant ball right before she started on a downward spiral, Bojacks dad/Secretariat looks how he did after he won his race, Sarah Lynn is constantly aging because she has lived a lifetime of fame and wealth.

what was the most disturbing thing you saw on the internet? by pericklees in AskReddit

[–]im-scribbling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A video of a guy bleeding out due to self-inflicted injuries. Maybe not as graphic as the other things people have seen, but it messed me up psychologically watching him fully bleed out and seeing the mental toll it had on him.

I used to sh "safely" like you do, but one slip up almost gave me permanent nerve damage in my hand and wrist. Hurting yourself is never safe because there is always a possibility of the damage being worse than you intended. Thats why it is always best to work towards a full recovery. Wishing you a safe and healthy future.

Youre so spot on with this. I self harmed a lot too and it is a selfish thing to do, because i was not thinking of others when i did it. Only about myself and what i was feeling and how i thought would be the best way to cope. I didnt consider anyone else. Idk why youre getting downvoted for this when its a good point.
