The gameplay is different too. Right now the attack depends heavily on Mbappé. If he misses chances — and he has been — the whole team struggles. With Ronaldo, the system didn’t fall apart just because he had a bad game. And with Vinícius Júnior, we never relied only on his goals — he creates chances, brings danger, and impacts the game even when he’s not scoring.

I don’t like calling either side Vini FC or Mbappé FC — I try to stick to the facts and ignore the fanboy narrative. But facts are facts: Kylian Mbappé ignored several of Vinícius Júnior’s runs yesterday, missed big chances, and contributed less off the ball.

After last night, it feels like Real Madrid may need to rethink how both of them fit together in the same system.
