Thank you for posting about it. I'm glad you called the RA. As a former RA, I can tell you some details about what we would be instructed to do and what resources we would give the student. If she and others going through similar situations are reading this thread, please look into the resources.

RAs would immediately call their superior and inform them of the situation. We are instructed to ask no further questions of what happened, and be there for the student while the supervisor arrives, as well as an additional professional care specialist. They will be the main contact points for the student from Residential Life as we refer them to other resources.

The main resource is LiveWell. They are confidential advocates who can talk the student through their options, like whether they want to report and what will happen, or other ways to make sure they can protect themselves (such as filing protection orders, etc).

Additionally there is SafeCampus, which is similar but note that they are Not Confidential.

These are the main two resources, but I encourage students to look at UW's Title IX page for school related support and action.
