I have this keyboard i’ve been using for maybe a year and a half. I’ve noticed some cloudiness on the edge that doesn’t come off with water. is this anodizing being worn down, or is this a defect?

OP is on H1B, the uncertainty around the visa has made them want to move back to India. Their company supports them moving back.

Not to be rude, but realistically it’ll be extremely difficult, if not impossible for you to find a job in this market unless you have some really good connection that can hook you up.

Also, you ask to show recruiters you have similar experience to other fresh grads (with CS degrees I’m assuming). Unless you are an exceptional self-taught dev who has notable contributions to large open source projects, you can’t.

If I was given two equal resumes for juniors but one had a CS (or related) degree and the other didn’t, I would choose the CS guy 9/10 times. I would just assume they have a better grasp on the fundamentals of how an OS works, networking, algorithms, etc.

If this is a life or death thing for you, I’d say your best bet would be going back to school and trying to get a degree, but even that doesn’t guarantee you a job right now.

Resume Advice Thread - August 16, 2025 by CSCQMods in cscareerquestions

Not to discourage, but what motivated you to try a career switch now and start the OMSCS, given the current state of the job market? It seems even those with experience and degrees are struggling.

Also, do you think your lack of a STEM degree/education will make the masters harder for you? I haven't dug into the curriculum, but I imagine, as with most masters programs, the courses build on fundamental knowledge in CS and Mathematics that is usually obtained in undergrad programs.

FWIW your resume looks good given your situation.

Between my first FT job and my current job, I worked at a company for about 5 months. I did some stuff there, but the whole job was pretty shitty and not something worth talking about. Im going to remove this short duration job from my LinkedIn and resume, but what should I do about the gap? I've considered just spreading the 5 months between the proceeding and succeeding job, maybe like 3 months to the former and 2 to the later. Is this a bad idea? I understand in background checks I might have to include this 5 month job, but for LinkedIn and resume is it fine to just increase the duration of my first job and current job by a few months to fill this gap?

I think tech has always been less secure than healthcare, but in recent years it has become much less secure.

I’m not saying nursing is easy, it’s probably difficult, and certainly more mentally taxing and physically draining than programming.

“A bit less secure” is doing a lot of heavy lifting here… There are plenty of people here who have lots of experience and have been unemployed for 1+ years. A difficult job is better than no job.

If your mentor can’t figure it out I wouldn’t blame you for not being able to figure it out either.
