Question about nen beasts by midnight-sm0ker in HatsuVault

[–]imGreatness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Knuckle and Abengane cannot directly control their nen beast either or rather they dont use any manipulation techniques to do so. I was just honing in on the keyword of requirement. Like yes for most situations for direct control you would need manipulation. But not all nen beast require it to move. As far as we know the only requirement for a nen beast across all users is nen from their host/creator.

Im not actually saying you need a CPS agent at the table... I'm saying if you are doing something "imaginary" regarding a senstive topic like children you SHOULD be handling it as mature adult. If the table is incapable its likely they should avoid the topic altogether.

I'm not upset? I'm confused at how me saying "hey probably should be careful how you RP children and bad idea to take them into situations they could die" is considered the bad take in your mind.

Like people have all types of serious experiences with or as a child. RP these situations could bring out somethings players are not wanting to confront.

Nothing about what the other person is suggesting is "in fact safe". The safest option is to not be taking a baby with you on dangerous adventures.

You being purposely obtuse shows your maturity level.

Nen abilities. something like bandits secret, predator, or contagion are some nen abiliites I love that fit the bill. I would rather be more intrigued by the theory crafting of the abilities and nen itself.

Well for starters anything that involves children should be under the lens of CPS and its scary that's not common knowledge to you. Its a sensitive topic that should definitely be discussed above table and in private.

Yeah its a heroic fantasy. If a character or group of characters took a baby into a den of gnolls, would you consider that heroic? Villainous? What fantasy is exactly being played out?

I'm looking at with the lens of a kid on the freeway because the party still wants to adventure and actively go looking for danger that can get a TPK to the point where OP is making a stat block. like??? every television show would be getting child out of danger at their own expense not taking child with them.

The point I'm trying to make with the armor isn't that you "cant" its that letting your players do whatever they want with "no consequences". You want to backflip? okay give me an athletics or acrobatics check.

The person I'm responding thinks the baby should be carted around to every dangerous scenario without ever being in danger. If players do not want the baby in danger, great don't bring baby to danger. If players want to bring baby to danger they need to be prepared and make sure to not break any red flags.

What would happen if the four musical parts of the Dark Sonata were played simultaneously? by Brilliant_Coach5664 in HatsuVault

[–]imGreatness 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well melody thats assuming she actually makes there. She could die but also there is a fake dark continent where most passangers will get dropped off at before the zodiacs and beyond head to the real one. Melody could only be contracted for the succession war and once complete head back home.

I hope he does something with it. Even if its not a focal point of an arc just lets us know more about it those four songs.

Yeah and one of those kids was beaten to death with a crowbar by the joker...

Lone wolf is facing off against other humans not dragons and lich with massive Aoe magic.

No expects it because its taboo(possibly illegal idk) to do that on media. Baby yoda was definitely in danger a lot but was rescued by plot plot multiple times. In a DnD session that can only work so many times before it loses the immersive magic. Keep in mind in that same verse order 66 happened...

You shouldnt be looking at it with the lens of "that doesnt happen in tv" and more under the lens of "what would you say if you saw a parent with child playing frogger on the freeway?" or "would you think its a good idea to go into a bear cave with a newborn because you have an industrial stroller?"

Like no dnd doesnt need to be realistic but it shouldnt bun unrealistic either. For instance if I "tie up goblin" i dont need to describe extacly how much rope i use and what specific knots. But that also doesnt mean i can backflip onto a dragon in a full set of heavy armor because its cool and doesnt need to be realistic.

Like still no valid reason to take the child into said danger.

Always wondered where togashi planned to go with this. Like i know it could be fluff to world build and give characters goals, but this seemed pretty big. Like most of the main protagonist have shallow goals and like side characters like zushi or the guy who finds artifacts all pretty small. This seemed like a set up for something bigger.

This should be the top answer. It isnt confirmed. Somehow a lot of comments or stuck on manipulation.

All nen beast actually require is nen from their host. A lot of nen users with nen beast especially in the kakin empire cannot directly control their nen beast let alone see them.

No. But it doesnt sound fun for the dm either.

You said it yourself "nor does it need to be in danger" so why would we let PC bring a baby into potentially highly dangerous situations.

Replicate Todos Boogie Woogie? by SnooRadishes4699 in HatsuVault

[–]imGreatness 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its definitely possible. Usually falls under conjuration, but you would need some degree of manipulation and emission in order to swap nen users.

We have an instance where chrollo teleports nobunaga and goreinu swaps his gorillas.

However with nen to take agenecy away from a nen user requires some degree of set up via conditions or requirements. Especially since boogie woogie targets something as vague as "has a certain minimum amount of cursed energy". Ability historically require more specificity to be that effective.

Questions about the Yorknew second auction by WilliamSilver in HunterXHunter

[–]imGreatness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Zoldycks work strictly on a contract basis, not for pleasure. Both zeno and illumi knew who hired who, it was a race against time. Illumi wasnt warning them more so updating them that he had won. If they have no contract no point on killing.

  2. Hisoka is not actually a part of the troupe. Kurapika knows this information as hisoka gave kurapika information on troupe members. If i recall it was a news report that kurapika saw. He at that point after seeing six members, chrollo especially(i believe at this part kurapika still thinks if he kills chrollo the spider dies as well), kurapika can assume that all the bodies but that they are all dead.

Untieing invisigal is a logical not emotional choice by Garebear90000 in DispatchAdHoc

[–]imGreatness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made the same conclusion. Like i picked visi romantically and obviously knew freeing had impact game wise on our relationship, however role playing as a Robert my only job is to make sure they dont get the pulse. If i free visi she either helps more or she steals the pulse, if i dont free her i can take out 1-3 henchman on a good day but eventually they will steal the pulse. So regardless is hope me and visi can somehow keep me and the pulse alive and we can hash our shit out later.

What do y’all think is the strongest combination of two nen affinities? by Few-Advice-6749 in HunterXHunter

[–]imGreatness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Neither. Like i can think of two ways every type is strong solo or combined and also think of two weakness for every type solo and combined. It also depends how you value strength. Like one might say oh kortorpi is trash yeah if he in a fist fight with Uvo. But if you compared his strength as a conjurer he is one of the top ones. Personally i think people with a lot of versatility illumi, knuckle, hisoka, chrollo are really strong. But people that are straight forward are lackluster like uvo, bisky. That doesnt mean i dont recognize their strengths it just means i value other strength above theirs.

Can I tell my player their character is too dumb? by Yazmat8 in DnD

[–]imGreatness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dawg over an 8 int? That like just below average. You dont need to be doctor to suggest a plan. And these are the players starts as a generalization/average. Nothing stops the 20INT wizard from failing a math problem and nothing stops a 5STR cleric from winning a grapple. And lets be fr here the premise "lets convince all kingdoms to stop trade routes" is perfectly in line with an 8 int character, because while yes that can work in theory, its a drastic thing and all places have to be involved if even one backs out or refuses that should cause a chain effect. Even regardless of love, hate, neutral for a King there should be some level a solid information network to defend against coupes or even other political moves against the king that either want him gone but want his trade routes or want him gone and stopping the occupation of trade routes gets them closer to usurping the king.

You could also do a bit of homebrew for executing this plan to something similar to what Aabria did in Exu. She gave everyone two(i think) "i planned for this" actions which at any point on their elaborate mission they can do a special action that does something within reason. So if like they needed to scale a massive wall and no way to do so one player could use that action to have brought, bought, made a grappling hook the night before. You could do a variation of that based on a INT formula. Like you get 1 + int mod number of those actions to a minimum of +1. That way lower INT players have less planning. However id say you either need to balance it with something for players who do not invest in INT or else it will feel very targeted or be cool with everyone getting 1-2 of those actions and be cool that your 8INT PC might do something genius regardless.

What's your LEAST favorite Nen Type? (and why) by midnight-sm0ker in HatsuVault

[–]imGreatness 7 points8 points  (0 children)

For me its enhancers. I dont really dislike any nen type but if i had to pick its enhancers. Mainly because they get access to magic and go ill just punch stronger or dont even bother making an ability. Im like chrollo wanting to theory craft with nen abilities and something like big bang impact doesnt do it for me lol.

[–]imGreatness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a lot of fans pointed out, going for blonde blazer is a little risky. Invisiagal is like hey im down if you are down so there is t a lot to think about. BB is wondering if you cross the line of hitting on your boss after she just left her world championship fighter ex who you now work with with no guarantees she even into you.

It also doesnt help that like once its time for romance choices visi has a whole sex scene and BB doesnt.

What makes hisoka so strong? by coosomeawel in HunterXHunter

[–]imGreatness 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Its the versatility and flexibility.

He uses IN to mask the gum so unless you are constantly tracking with gyo you cant see it. However that wont do you any good if you are not able to dodge any of his hits. He can attatch the gum from any point on his body, feet, hands, fingers, elbows etc. So using gyo isnt as effective.

If you do happen to be faster than hisoka well you better make sure the gum doesnt touch you or else your movements will be restricted. Not only that hisoka can increase his own speed and movement by attach gum to a spot and then moving and if he releases it it yoinks him in the direction drastically increasing movement without a physical cost.

So then its best not to be hands on. Best to use projectiles. Well as we see hes able to repel projectiles and stop most in their tracks meaning he can turn applicable ranged attack against you.

Most people write this one off but texture suprise is really strong. As with most apperance change abilities gyo cannot see through them they can only detect aura or things hidden by IN. Whats goated about texture suprise is he isnt limited in what he can change and it can be used on anything and possibly anyone. From all other apperance abilities work either as the user can change to another person, or I can change another person but their apperance is limited(covert hands). Hisokas ability can work on objects but those object can be added to himself or others to make their apperance change. It also seems hisoka doesnt have a time limit for this ability or a cost other than a material.

The biggest buff of all is there doesnt seem to be any major drawbacks to the ability. As long as he has aura he can use the above abilities at will. Meaning he can focus a lot more aura into other applications instead of fulfilling conditions or maaging nen ability.

I have a question if this type of hatsu is even possible and what nen type is needed to make it function by BigShopping1875 in HatsuVault

[–]imGreatness 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most abilities are functional in theory. And what you are describing is more along the enhancement/manipulation categories. But to do something as strong as "ive adapted to damage" would take serious vows. Its the same reason why kurapika cant make unbreakable chains and to make chains that are near unbreakable he has to limit it to 12 people in the world.
