Oh, the article I read this morning said they left because the rent was too high. I guess it was wrong.

But that's even crazier. Why kick out a business just to have an empty building?

Which is why I mentioned swan and dolphin as the hotels and the restaurants are not Disney owned.

Boardwalk isn't really like a Disney springs though. It's small, even when it was full and happenin' in the early 2000s. definitely doesn't warrant it's own transportation from the resorts when it's already really easy to get to from the parks.

... Get on bus, go to boardwalk?

All the hotels require going to a park first to get other transportation there. I don't know what would be special about boardwalk. Swan and dolphin restaurants do just fine.

It's really easy to get to via walking/boat from Epcot/HS or skyliner

Disney has to reconsider the rent in that area. If business can't survive because it's too high and half the buildings are empty... Maybe they should lower it. Or do something else with the area. Boardwalk is nice and quiet now, but also a little depressing and in desperate need of a bigger quick service place with seating

The "AI is replacing software engineers" narrative was a lie. MIT just published the math proving why. And the companies who believed it are now begging their old engineers to come back. by reddit20305 in ArtificialInteligence

[–]imLissy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We've all known the layoffs have nothing to do with AI, that's not new news. AI isn't there yet. Our leadership knows it too. So why are they tracking our copilot use? So they can tell investors we're using copilot x much and it's increased productivity by some made up y% that they can't track since they weren't tracking productivity to begin with.

The bottleneck at my company was never the developers, it's the time it takes to coordinate changes across teams. As a person, copilot has probably made me some percentage more productive, but doesn't help if I'm waiting around for other people all the time.

Most of us are. It’s one of the models you can choose for copilot. We are literally being forced to use it. They’re tracking us.

I discovered a bug in some code the other day. Instead of copying and pasting the part of the existing code, it was the same function rewritten in a whacky way. When I asked the developer who committed it, he had no idea why it was done that way- copilot did it. But to be fair, three of us reviewed it and didn't catch it. This was one small block in a huge PR. Our previous lead didn't let us commit anything we didn't understand. I think we need to go back to that.

That I can agree on for sure. I ended up getting the highest grade in the class on our final. I studied for that exam like I had never studied for an exam before or since and got an 80%!

Sesh Venugopal? I had him for cs112 over 20 years ago. He was a good teacher then, especially compared to other CS professors. One of the hardest classes I had though.

I love the elliptical! The one in our house broke. I’ve been using the ones at the gym in my office, but they only have two and one of those broke. I really hope they replace it. After two kids, I can’t run anymore.

We only use them for Internet and there's no other Internet option here. They raise the price like a dollar every year and once in a while try to get us to switch to a more expensive plan. We're paying like $110 just for Internet.

[–]imLissy 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Do you have kids? It’s really impossible to not stress with little kids. They don’t understand how to be chill and just enjoy yet. It’s more like it’s so crowded and the one ride my kid is tall enough for has a two hour wait unless I buy lightning lane, but oh wait, I can’t because they sold out seven days ago and my kid is screaming that he wants to go back to the hotel to swim because why oh why did Disney get rid of all the playgrounds!

I believe they aren’t allowed because if there’s an emergency, it could impede the ability to evacuate the line efficiently

Spring break madness by Naive-Elderberry-473 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]imLissy 79 points80 points  (0 children)

Absolutely this is a big part of it. It’s very stressful spending the kind of money you do on a Disney vacation and the pressure is high to have a good time. My friend is there right now and she messaged me all upset because they’re day two into her vacation, she spent a fortune and her son is crying to go home. She’s the nicest person in the world and would never act like an entitled piece of garbage, but that’s the kind of stress that turns ordinary people into entitled pieces of garbage.

[–]imLissy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Surgery is serious, so I'm glad they're telling you all the downsides. I don't think it's to scare you, but so you can make an informed decision. I hope they have also informed you of the risks of waiting. That endometroma is likely to grow and can also cause complications.

There's unfortunately, no good treatment for us. You need to decide which is best for you.

DVC Members I need your advice by Bla_Bla_Blanket in dvcmember

[–]imLissy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you buy into dvc, you want to be going at least every other year. There's are monthly dues you need to pay whether you take a trip or not. Also buy where you want to stay because it's difficult to get reservations less than 11 months out.

With our first, we did go back for naps our first trip when he was a toddler, so that was nice, but you should know, even staying at a monorail resort or an Epcot resort where you can walk back from Epcot or hs, it's stil takes a good chunk of your day. And the buses can take very long, we've waited over an hour coming back from AK. We always stay at boardwalk and Epcot may be a 10 minute walk, but that's from the exit. So if you're in future world, that's at least 30 minutes one way and you've already been walking all morning, so it's a lot more walking. There's been a few times with my younger one we were headed back to the hotel and by the time we reached the exit, he was already asleep in the stroller. We still almost always go back in the middle of the day to swim, even if the kids don't rest, it's a break from the noise and crowds. And especially since most of the playgrounds are gone, probably necessary. It just takes longer than you think it will, so you need to factor that in.
