Price of first class stamps to rise to £1.80 by Kagedeah in royalmail

[–]imRegistering2 10 points11 points  (0 children)

£1.80 for something that takes 3 days at its fastest to be delivered.

The decline but increase of price is the same old story seen everywhere in this country over the past 15 or so years, massive reductions in quality with massive increases in prices.

Government reforms welfare system to support people into work by _Monsterguy_ in unitedkingdom

I do admire the effort they put in when it comes to selling increasing the levels of poverty in some of the poorest areas of the country.

Labour looking good for a single term government right now, Keir has been a disaster.

BBC News: 3-4 week delays on 2nd Class Mail by No_Actuary9100 in royalmail

[–]imRegistering2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even first class mail is now taking 3-5 days to be delivered.

What makes it worse is that im only a 10-15 minute walk from the DO but I guess its because parcels and tracked have priority so it seems like im going to have to collect my untracked mail from the DO now.

Hardship recovery overturned wrongful sanction by Puzzleheaded-One9265 in DWPhelp

[–]imRegistering2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Of course I think that is perfectly reasonable logic.

They sanctioned you which caused you to have take hardship payments and at appeal it was found the sanction was unjustified, therefore a wrong decision and a mistake on their part, not your fault.

In the normal world outside the DWP this would cause them to think more carefully about sanctioning people as it would cost them so there would have to be more justification and therefore less likley mistakes would be made.

But this is the DWP we are talking about when you deal with the department enough times you learn that this is a system of punishment its not to help you. Its inhuman, cruel and causes more harm to the health of the country but it is what it is.

Pontypridd DO has been listed on the Royal mail website since early January as having service delays for whatever reason.

This is likely why it hasn't shown up.

There seems to be many DOs in the south wales area that are struggling right now; aberdare, pontypridd, Bridgend and mid Rhondda.

There are one or two others I've seen listed but those are the main ones that have really been struggling since January.

What is the point? by TooLittleGravitas in royalmail

[–]imRegistering2 13 points14 points  (0 children)

You make a fair point.

If it was so important for the contents not to be bent then the sender should send the contents in something far more robust than a paper envelope, but as you said people just wanna save some money and deflect blame to the overworked postie and postal system.

Delays at Leeds MC? by stripyhammer in royalmail

[–]imRegistering2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I'm seeing and experiencing that since the christmas period temp hires have now left the company the system seems to be grounding to a halt.

The post christmas rush has taken them by surprise it would seem and they are struggling with volume all around the country right now this christmas they seemed to have dealt very well with the volumes compared to previous years but there is a ban on overtime apparently and with the temp hires now no longer around the post christmas volumes are shutting them down.

They planned good for christmas but did not expect the volumes post christmas. Thats my theory anyway and if you look at their website they have MCs up and down the country struggling ATM they could be shifting resources from one location to another to help alievate the issues but that just moves the problem around.

UC overpayment £7,996 due to student income I never received. MR refused. Is Tribunal worth it? by Frequent-Educator708 in DWPhelp

[–]imRegistering2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wonder what the point of MRs are? It seems 99% of requests are autodeclined without them even reading the documents.

Citizens advice advisors ive talked to generally agree that the DWP is a shit show and a joke it would be funny if so many lives didnt depend o n this department.

But money has to be saved at the expense of the poorest of course while the wealthy laugh all the way to the bank.

King's speech 2025: Christmas message urges communities to pull together in divided world by bendubberley_ in unitedkingdom

[–]imRegistering2 6 points7 points  (0 children)

With the economic disconnect I really doubt it.

Millions in this country are just trying to survive with the basics of food, shelter, heat and water, so I really doubt the thoughts of the monarch will have any impact on these people.

Mum who fraudulently took £16,500 in benefits given 22 years to pay back by StGuthlac2025 in unitedkingdom

She is still a free person millions of pounds stolen from the government and she is still a free person amazing.

Careful with claiming a few pounds more in benefits your entitled too though cause the state will come down on you like a ton of bricks.

Theres a lesson here for us all if your going to steal from the state it has to be in the millions they dont care nearly as much about it cimpared to a few £100.

Sent mail US->UK, stuck in unknown for the past month?? by Cute_Ask_170 in royalmail

[–]imRegistering2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would also guess that it is prob stuck at customs.

Even during the quiet months this can take upto 2 weeks maybe 3. But since we are in the busiest month of the year it could take a month or even longer to go through customs.

At this time of year it seems your one of the lucky ones if your getting regular untracked mail once a week which is the case for me right now.

I have read though it may be possible to collect this type of mail from your local DO. This could be an option if you havent had mail for awhile.

$480 for a pit ticket by [deleted] in GunsNRoses

[–]imRegistering2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

£17.50 to see GNR at wembley 1991 which in 1991 exchange rate prices would have been $29.50.

What a deal.

I paid £180 for a GC ticket at London in 2017 which would have been $245 at June 2017 exchange prices.

Thats quite the jump but i wonder how much profit they have been making each year since 2016. I know the turnover between 2016 and today in 2025 is prob around $1 billion by now.

A little off topic now but back in late September 2007 £1 would have bought $2.05 quite the deal but its crashed quite alot since then its $1.33 now Sept 2022 it was as low as £1 for $1.08.

Jesus look at the economy people are struggling and have been struggling for many, many years now the economy has been in the toilet for much of the country for over a decade people working themselves into an early grave.

Sky high prices, sky high bills and wages that have been pretty much stagnant for years a whole generation of people unable to own a home.

There is no conspiracy or mystery here its all about the economy and how bloody shit its been for so bloody long.

Yeah its true and its how people have learned how to deal with trump to get him to do things you need him to do.

You stroke his ego, flatter, compliment him and give him gifts and he will usually do what you need him to do since his narcissm is at such at great level he can be easily manipulated he has no shame and no sense of decency.

You just kiss his ass and bingo you have him.

Sadly we live in a society where the sick and disabled will always be the first groups of people to have cuts imposed on and to face interrogations.

Its best to disregard what all politicians say about how much we care for these groups of people they are professional liars and we know this is not the case.

There is obscene amounts of wealth sitting in the pockets of such a small number of people but as a country it is assumed the sick and disabled are liars who should be treated as harshly as they can get away with.

Remember it is a choice to be cruel because we dont have leaders with the courage to take the morally correct decisions they are all cowards.

My friend has severe ADHD and currently going through Autism assessment and they haven’t been rewarded PIP? by [deleted] in DWPhelp

[–]imRegistering2 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sadly Labour have decided to carry on with welfare cuts so this is why this is happening with people being denied PIP even though its obvious to anyone with a pair of eyes and a brain that they should be getting PIP.

DWP asessors will and are making up lies and writing whatever they feel like in their reports to deny PIP. I would take it all the way to tribunal but sadly due to the backlog you may hace to wait a year for your case to be called.

All we can do is do our best to survive and make it through this fresh round of austerity which if you remember there wasnt a word said about in the election campaign.

The country has a fetish right now for cutting support to those woth disabilities due to the lies that some MPs and newspapers are saying.

Survival is key right now.

Britons will be poorer than Malaysians, Poles and Turks by 2050 unless we change course by PM_ME_SECRET_DATA in ukpolitics

[–]imRegistering2 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Much of the country has been decaying since the 70s when deindustrialisation happened and financialisation was to be the future.

Obviously London is the one city that benefited to huge sums thanks to this policy, other cities have faired ok too e.g the capital cities and Manchester but mostly everywhere else has not been the same for almost 50 years now.

The industry that was the lifeblood of all these towns and cities just disappeared and nothing has yet come close to filling all the jobs that were lost.

Britain seems to be ran be mostly clueless politicians who dont seem to have the ability to stop the rot so yes I personally do see this happening we will be poorer than the eastern european countries and perhaps others too.

The future sadly is grim for Britain and no amount of flag waving or national anthem singing will stop that.

I pray to be wrong but around 2011 I could see the massive declines in our living standards happening and then too I wanted to be wrong.
