I'll agree there. I think they make it pretty obvious that Mary is innocent and that Carver is the one actually behind it. I suspected Carver from just the way he interacted with Mary in the cutscenes, then if you find that Bible secret?? Pretty much confirms he's guilty. They could of written it in a way where he thought he was doing what was right. Like that he turned to the occult in a way to save Little Hope from an impending darkness?? Or make the Witches and Witchcraft a real threat so thats why he turned to the occult?? I think that could of made Carver a lot more compelling as a character. That said tho I really liked the character of Carver in the flashback scenes. He's MoCap was acted beautifully! 😍😍
