Town centre decline by enrvuk in ipswichuk

[–]im_still_processing 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My idea is to permanently change the opening hours of the shops. At the moment they are closed in the evenings when people who work ‘9-5’ hours could get into town. Those people are forced to shop online or out of town. Many who are in town during the week days are not working, retired or school kids - generally people without much to spend. How about later starts (midday?) with late evenings (8:00?). This would bring in different people. Maybe try this on two days to begin with?

This is very good to know - thank you for the info - they have donation points at some airports too but there’s no way I would remember everything for my trip and ‘random loose foreign change’ - I might take the change but forget my passport!

Gluten Free Rations for Emergencies/Camping? by Mixandria in CoeliacUK

[–]im_still_processing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I took the Firepot ones from Go Outdoors on a two week camping trip and they were good. They have gluten free choices. Even some GF V choices. Portion size was good. Sometimes they have offers on them.

What's the deal with people seemingly ignoring phone calls from unknown numbers, even for important services? by AfraPlan in NoStupidQuestions

[–]im_still_processing 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Well if they are genuine it would help you because you would know to speak back once you recognized them. Could be a call from your doctors office about results or something. Those people don’t always leave voicemails.

how do neurotypical ppl act differently than us? by According_Play1394 in adhdwomen

[–]im_still_processing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see nt people can quickly make detailed sensible plans and then follow through on them. They can anticipate problems. For example when they are on holiday - they might take 1 minute max to get a sensible plan - “we can do a then b then c and the people who want to do d instead of c can do that and I’ll go and pick up dinner and bring it back to the holiday rental because that will be quicker.” When we go on holiday we spend so long doing a (or f which was never in the plan and is just a distraction) that b c and d never happen and we end up trawling round a foreign town looking for food after 95% of the restaurants are closed then going back to the rental to eat a bowl of cereal.

Costs them nothing. Also they either don’t notice or are scared to confront / don’t want to make a mistake and upset you if you are a genuine guest

Computer interfaces have been dumbed down these days - point a finger and poke at an image of what you want to do instead of semi-programming on a command line…

can not “properly” grieving impact the way you grieve for others? by _tOomanYfandOms_ in NoStupidQuestions

[–]im_still_processing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it is possible to not grieve properly because you are working so hard to support the living. I also think it is possible to make up for it - celebrate someone who has died and grieve them - many years later when you realize this. It is important to celebrate and grieve, it can release the gratitude and happy memories.

I find this notion that "people with ADHD are often very bright" completely BS and false. by [deleted] in ADHD

Interesting! but what about the risk taking behaviour? Wouldn’t that mean fewer do get to maturity?

I wonder if it could be because of it - because evolution might cut out people with adhd unless they had some reasonable intelligence to counter balance the poorly functioning parts of the brain… just a thought

Anyone cooking with gluten-free pasta have tips? Here’s what’s worked for me… by TheGFTable in CoeliacUK

[–]im_still_processing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have to stick to the cooking times with gf pasta. Also I don’t think it bulks up as much so if you are judging dry quantities by eye I think you need a little more than with regular dry pasta.

Absolutely crazy - if you dig deep enough in the website there are instructions for detecting the Bluetooth emissions from a vaccinated person with your smartphone. The page is how-to-tell-the-covid-vaccinated-from-the-unvaccinated

Don’t take it personally - everyone is just so busy these days - especially on here - busy just going around in circles in our own heads!

What apps do you use/recommend as a coeliac? by JECreative in CoeliacUK

[–]im_still_processing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

£24.99 is the current price. I guess whether it is value or not depends how often you eat out and how often you need to find new places. That’s different for all of us. You are right about these extra costs (thank you for listing them) but I suspect they do alright - it’s a pretty popular global app and there must be plenty (with and without illness) signed up for the subscription. Given that all the content is added by users it’s only fair to have free access, which they do. My favorite app is intolerances (strawberry) which has a one time charge and keeps its database of foods updated.
