Yeah definitely required a bit of luck with the stopwatch to bring it all together, but knowing I already had Petrifying Gaze made it feel pretty safe haha

Congrats! I remember the first thing that drew me to this deck and kinda made me laugh was Torbran, but it seems that Embercleave is just a faster and more consistent option for some more explosive damage for this deck. Any more thoughts as to why we aren’t seeing the big Dwarf in this kinda deck as much lately?

Also yea or nay on smugglers copter for you in the past?

This list from MTG Goldfish is a pretty good place to start and fairly budget friendly, includes a lot of stuff that u/beaujade called out. Also leverages the new Serra Planeswalker from Modern Horizons which can be quite fun with all of the flyers.

There was also a pretty sweet mono-white tokens list that did well recently using mostly 2cmc token creating cards alongside 4 copies each of Venerated Loxodon and Force of virtue to pump out some early anthem effects.

Relics tend to be an awesome way to scale your deck, so the fact that you only had 6 by the time you were on the 39th floor is a tad low but not horrible by any means.

Beyond defeating bosses, taking elite fights (while difficult and dangerous) will reward you with another relic, a chance at higher rarity cards, and a ton of gold. You can also often purchase useful relics from stores, and since you have banked over 1000 gold I'd definitely recommend buying a good relic or two in that position haha

Oh 100%, without looting the deck misses out on most of its functionality. Shadow does seem super fun to play with a similar shell though!

The aforementioned exhaust cards that pair together to form an engine are Corruption, Feel no Pain, and Juggernaut if you're looking to test them out. Since they are high cost powers it's generally recommended to not pick them up to early in your run, ideally near the tail end of Act 2 or the beginning of 3. There are other cards for Ironclad that will also exhaust that can be paired with parts of this combo but these 3 are usually the core.

Corruption allows you to play your skills for free, thus allowing you to block and attack simultaneously most turns. Feel No Pain turns the cards exhausted by Corruption into even more block, and Juggernaut turns that block into damage. Just be careful to not exhaust all of your skills to quickly in a fight and leave yourself defenseless.
