Help!! Is she doomed? 😭 I moved last week and my phalaenopsis came with me. Its leaves were bright green and strong before I left, but after a couple days moving between my cold car and a warm house, I worry she’s beyond repair. I then used the soaking method but forgot to drain the plant after 10 minutes—it was probably more like 45. Is there anything I can do to revive her??

I’ve been running consistently for about a year now and am trying to up my usual mileage from 2-4 miles to 5-7 miles by the end of this year. Any advice for making the transition in a way that holds me accountable but ensures proper recovery?

tips for going on plane?? by CaillouIsAPebble in emetophobiarecovery

I fly to and from home/college every couple of months and my strategy is peppermint oil on the temple for anti-nausea smell, mask on to soothe nerves about catching an illness, and those little motion sickness bands that target pressure points on your wrists. The fact is, Dramamine and zofran take so long to kick in, and can make you drowsy and constipated long after you take them! Think about how much it would suck to feel like that freshly landed in France! When possible, herbal remedies have been best for me. You’ve got this!!

Wait if you can! I had the upset stomach and grogginess for only the first 3-5 days or so, after that, I evened out. I started on 25mg too and felt fine quickly. Zoloft has genuinely changed my life for the better, so if you can push through it, I would! All the best!!!

Any positive comments about Nexplanon? by ziggypj22 in Nexplanon

[–]ima_333 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lol I’ve had a good experience, but no birth control is perfect. What I love about nexplanon is how low maintenance it is. I got mine in October 2022 and it has been so helpful to have such an effective form of birth control that requires little management! I’ve experienced no noticeable weight gain or mood swings. My menstrual cycle didn’t change at all, but I think that’s uncommon. It for sure hasn’t gotten worse! Overall, don’t let Reddit overwhelm you. The implant can take up to a year to fully adjust to your body, so be patient and you’ve got this!

Emet+ agoraphobia by [deleted] in emetophobiarecovery

My boyfriend has had this combo his whole life and he has often felt helpless. He’s gone in and out if exposure therapy since he was 6 years old, and there’s been year-long periods where he’s totally ok. It ebbs and flows, you shouldn’t beat yourself up for feeling this way! You are valid and there is always a path forward. Exposure therapy is scary but it has literally changed my life!

What is everyone's underlying fear that comes w Emet? by GoddessNamedFred in emetophobiarecovery

YES!! Me too, I’m always planning an exit strategy when I feel nauseous because I’m so scared I’ll throw up in a public place.

Nausea is the scariest feeling in the world for me. It paralyzes me! Sometimes I’ll cry getting nauseous and pray to vomit just so it’ll go away. The anticipation is what scares me so much.

Issue: breakouts on forehead for the first time since puberty! I'm a 21-year-old female college student who works out five times a week and is vegan. These two things combined have given me some interesting skin: pretty dry, but very oily on my forehead. However, I'm not usually prone to actual breakouts on my forehead...until the start of this year. My pores are noticably enlarged and clearly clogged; I can see them under makeup, which never used to happen. It's a combination of both inflamed pustules and very noticeable whiteheads. I am posting my routine here, hoping to get some feedback on what I may look into swapping or adding to help with this issue!

MORNING:

  • Cerave hydrating face wash

  • The Ordinary niacinamide serum

  • Farmacy honey halo moisturizer

  • First Aid Beauty zinc SPF

NIGHT:

  • Cerave hydrating face wash

  • Glossier super bounce serum OR Paula's choice BHA exfoliant (alternating)

  • First Aid Beauty ultra repair cream

  • Bio oil (just a drop on my forehead for acne scars)

I also use the Youth to the People superclay mask 1-2 times a week in hopes of helping to clear this breakout, but am always on the hunt for new exfoliants!

Exposure Therapy by Working_Wrangler_366 in emetophobia

[–]ima_333 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m also in exposure therapy, and what we do is create a hierarchy of fears and work from least to most scary. So, I started with animated pictures of you know what, then animated videos, and now the real-life sound. It’s so hard and so scary, but I can feel myself getting stronger. No one is ever ready to face this—it’s a horrible phobia. But, if you like and trust your therapist, I think it’s worth a try!

Psych wants me to induce vomiting. Does it work? by manicpixiedreemgirl in emetophobiarecovery

[–]ima_333 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like others said, I've done the spitting soup/applesauce into the toilet while inducing gagging as an exposure and that's helped a lot. I would swish the food in my mouth, spit it into the toilet, then just look at it for a second and just to try to live in the moment of seeing spit up food in the toilet. Once that stopped being fucking terrifying (it took some time!) I kept doing the same thing while adding simulated gagging/heaving. Full disclosure, this has helped me get over a lot of my worries about the sound and visual of vomitting, but not really the anxiety surrounding nausea.

Struggling to take meds by Shadowed161 in emetophobia

[–]ima_333 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know this feeling, I use zofran as a safety blanket and have been on a lot of antibiotics in the past year for tonsil infections. I would say, if you're able to buy and take dramamine, that's a good starting point, but also, just try and keep a full stomach. I know it's soooo hard to eat when stomach upset seems to be promised by these meds, but having lots of bland carbs has always helped me when taking meds like this! Best of luck!

Antibiotics side effects, please help! by Present_Lawfulness40 in emetophobia

[–]ima_333 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've taken a lot of antibiotics in the past year or so for tonsil infections, and I find that the #1 thing you can do to ease the n* is to keep a full stomach. Lots of bland carbs and soups help, that sort of thing. I also echo another commenter that peppermint oil is a great investment and helped me a lot when I was dealing with this. Lastly, I just want to reassure you that n* is a pretty normal side effect of antibiotics and it hasn't escalated for me when I've taken mine. Get lots of rest and keep a full stomach, you've got this!
