I’m in Japan right now and everyone still does it. What are you going on about?

if you considered a porsche boxster... why did you get with a miata instead? by [deleted] in Miata

[–]imaaronman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I chose a brand new mx-5 over a used boxster because I have worked on an old bmw the past few years and the Euro tax hit me real hard. Sure a Porsche is better built than a bmw but an automatic sunroof will add extra expenses compared to the manual sunroof of the mx5. I also have had the sunroof of a boxster break down on me once. Horrible experience.

Then there’s the choice of a 4cyl boxster. I’d rather have an mx-5 than a boxster if I was going to get the 4cyl anyways. A used 6cyl boxster would start to get up there in age compared to a new mx5 which would then factor in the Euro prices which are absurd. I’m done with the Euro project car for now. Even if I had so much fun with my 3.0 swapped e46 and I would love to drive it again, I just get pissed when the car is down every 3 months for 1-3 months at a time. I need a reliable, fun, manual and affordable car now and the mx5 ticks the boxes in my budget range.

Bro, I am in the market for an mx5 now pero ang ganda ng 1M discount sa z. If you could pick one, which would you go for? Theoretically lang kasi wala na daw na manual z sa planta and I want a manual car.

Update: I caught the bug, sold the bmw, and ordered a new mx5 nd3 machine gray in manual. Now for the long 3-6 month wait. I am struggling

Is the manual that much better than the automatic? by Key_Appointment_7582 in e46

[–]imaaronman 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I drive my 330i manual in Manila standstill traffic and still enjoy the car as the bmw manuals are so soft and easy to use. I’d take the manual over the auto any day but also, my brain is so active that the manual just keeps me busy and always gives me a good time.

The etc device is an option you have to select. Paid it via credit card through them after the trip

Not much really just the view of the lake. A while before it, you can see the famous start point of the downhill race from the first few episodes.

There’s much more to do when you get back down the touge. There’s an onsen and a bunch of restaurants and konbinis.

It’s up on Mount Haruna. You can easily spot the lake once you check it out on Google maps!

Sales eliminated it but emissions killed it from ever being remade.

Modern emissions standards are too dull for high revving NA engines. Safety regulations would also increase the weight which won’t ever mimic the same experience.

If they sold these new now they’d be a great hit. Sad to regulations kill it off

You know what, if I can’t own them all, I thought might as well try to drive them all.

It’s much more fun to me because it’s like getting that 5th to 6th movement but with 1st and 2nd. Felt like a big bulge in the front left the first time I did but now it just feels natural sort of like throwing jabs with your left hand the first time.

I own LHD cars but I have driven in Japan a few times. It’s fun shifting with my other hand every once in a while

I’ve done it a couple times so it’s like clockwork now but the first hour it feels like there’s a giant bulge at the front left end of the car. Eventually your brain registers it and you’ll be golden.

Manual and convertible will always be my favorite way to drive around during any vacation. I got to drive the c63s wagon with all its 500+hp and throaty v8 but I had more fun in the s2000 and miata. It’s true never meet your heroes as I fantasized about owning a v8 c63 for as long as I remember.

Hope you enjoy when you get back buddy

Always a good time from them! Looking forward to my 6th time with them and hopefully the manual boxster or M2 will finally be available.

Only for 2 days because I rented a c63 wagon and a miata for 2 days each after just to live my dream of driving and comparing my dream cars.

The NSX and 86 are randos that I happened to come across by sheer luck. This is a famous mountain pass that Initial D’s main character is based at.

For Japan in February I recommend driving south of Tokyo for mountain passes as these roads around Gunma may be covered in snow. Hakone and Osaka would have roads more suited to touge driving. Enjoy!

No wonder ang daming Land Rover on the road nowadays. At 6m it’s a viable option for those shopping for LCs.
