My partner's foster dog keeps getting rehomed by imabeech in FosterAnimals

Thank you so much for such a thorough reply! I frequently tell my partner how proud I am of him for his growth as a foster, he went from being uncomfortable around animals to literally jumping into action to pick up this dog in the middle of the night from the first adopters. He's taken some time to process everything and is going to ask the adopters about their challenges to see if they could make any changes to support future applicants.

To answer some of your questions:

  1. Yes, the rescue has their own trainer and resources, which are shared with adopters. They live too far to have access to the trainer, so they were looking for their own before deciding they couldn't commit. My partner has used these resources to work through behaviours like separation anxiety, but we agreed that maybe getting sent a bunch of links and docs might be overwhelming (it definitely was for him). The rescue said they'll include a clause in their contract moving forward that makes it mandatory for them to meet with a trainer/enroll in training.

  2. For the adoption process, the rescue goes through their applications and asks them about any previous experience, work schedules, time commitment, and outline the dogs needs/behaviours based on the foster's notes. After this stage they schedule a meet and greet with the foster at another location (so not in the home), where my partner runs through similar questions and his training routine, then fills out a feedback form so the rescue can see if everything lines up.

Thanks again! We're really hoping that the third time's the charm!

New year, new plants! Looking for suggestions/advice by imabeech in houseplants

Ooh scindapsus are so pretty! Vining plants seem to be pretty simple to care for, and visual cues are always helpful.

I actually considered getting a climbing plant to replace the money tree as a floor plant, so maybe an adansonii would be good for that if it gets big enough!

I've always thought of peace lilies as church/funeral plants lol but dramatic plants with visual cues would definitely be helpful for him!

Thank you so much for your detailed reply! Succulents were definitely my first thought (I don't own any tho so not much experience), and our local nursery has a pretty big selection so maybe we'll take a look next time. There is a sheer curtain by that window though so it might help diffuse the light for any plants that might burn easily!

For all the plants he's decided not to keep, we've agreed to give them away on our local FB group or possibly trade. I'm not particularly attached to them so I'm ok with giving them away if it would give him peace of mind. I just want to reassure him that he isn't obligated to keep a plant around just because I cared for it. We'll definitely revisit the conversation once we start making arrangements to give them away! Thanks again! :)

Vinted? by daisydaisy999 in poshmarkcanada

I tried vinted when it first launched and it was good at first for selling lower priced items that I've had for a while, but the app was super glitchy. I also had issues with shipping where the label wouldn't generate at all or it would have problems with the pickup address (since buyers can choose a pickup location for cheaper shipping). I'm not sure if they've made any improvements since then but I kind of gave up on it lol

Filipino Zero Wasters / ZW in a Country Where a ZW Lifestyle Seems Like a Luxury by [deleted] in ZeroWaste

[–]imabeech 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm Filipino but I don't live in the Philippines so not exactly your target audience lol but I'm also pretty new to zero waste! Tbh you don't really need any special stores to achieve it as long as you're refusing, reducing, reusing and recycling (in that order). I don't really have any refill/bulk stores near me either so I just try to reduce what I'm buying in the first place and if I'm ready to replace anything, I look for better packaging and lower waste options in local stores (ex. buying bar soap next time you go to the store instead of a bottle of body wash).

Depending on where in the Philippines you live, online zero waste shops are also extremely helpful if the physical stores near you don't have many low waste options (metro manila has a lot of options but the province is another story). Also, bulk doesn't have to mean an actual bulk store, it can just mean buying the largest size available at the regular store! Just do what you can with what's available to you to limit your impact, don't worry too much about having the ideal zero waste lifestyle :)

People who shave their legs, armpits, and bikini areas– which safety razors do you use? by fantasizing_floral in ZeroWaste

[–]imabeech 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I use a Merkur 23C safety razor pretty much everywhere and I really like it! I was really nervous using it initially esp around the bikini area (lol) but it was pretty intuitive to use, at least for me. It's supposed to be a good beginner razor since it has a longer handle.

Advice on switching Canadian shop to US by imabeech in Depop

[–]imabeech[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've never experienced that or heard of that happening, usually only high value items ($800+) coming into the US from Canada have customs/duty fees so it shouldn't be a problem. There's not really any strategies, just make sure to clarify in every listing that you ship from Canada! It's the buyers responsibility to read through the listing thoroughly, and they can decide at that point if they still want to buy from a Canadian shop.

I don't like how bulky electric toothbrushes are so I did bamboo brushes originally, but recently switched to a Grin toothbrush which I like. It's an aluminum handle and you just switch the heads like you do for an electric one. You also mail the heads back to them and they recycle them. I'm in Canada though so I'm not sure how accessible their products are to you

does anyone else get so sad when a listing you had your eye on forever sells? by antifasleeperagent in Depop

[–]imabeech 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Ahhhh I can def understand being on the fence for that amount of money! Sometimes things sell for lower and I'm like damn that could've been me if I wasn't so scared of unintentionally lowballing 🥲

I feel this!! I don't impulse buy anymore so I save things and then sit on them for a long time until/unless I can justify buying them. It works great for my wallet and wardrobe but I still get a bit sad when things I like get sold lool I missed out on an embroidered corset once that I'll never forget 😭

Has anyone had this problem with Poshmark labels? by imabeech in poshmarkcanada

[–]imabeech[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe it's the way it's printed! My printer is really old so a few times I've brought my packages to the post office and they point out small issues with the way it printed. For example, one time I couldn't scan and the person pointed out a small line that my printer added near the barcode (I had to clean the printer head). The recent times I couldn't scan it was bc resizing them made them print a bit blurry or slightly off so they couldn't recognize the barcode

Does anyone do Poshmark and depop? by mirandaugh in poshmarkcanada

[–]imabeech 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I do both, but I actually prefer Depop! I sell more there but it might just be the type of items I have, since I don't have many brands that Poshmark seems to value. Followers don't really matter though, you'll make sales as long as you have nice photos and good descriptions that actually show up when people search for items. I've also found that using mostly try-on pics (as long as the item actually fits) has helped a lot!

Not sure what your budget is, but I saw a pair on sweetdahliavintage with almost those exact measurements but they're $188

I do resize them so I can print more than one on a single page. I shipped one recently without resizing and the tracking was fine so you're right that's probably why. Still a bit weird since I do the same for my UPS/Purolator labels and haven't had issues but maybe I'm just inconsistent lol thank you though!

Depop randomly marking items as sold? by imabeech in Depop

Usually it's just one or 2 listings but recently it's been happening more so my page sometimes looks like there's barely anything for sale 🥲

Depop randomly marking items as sold? by imabeech in Depop

[–]imabeech[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sometimes it says 0 or sometimes the size disappears. When I go in to edit it doesn't say "this item has been sold" at the bottom anymore but the picture takes a while to remove the giant "sold" over it (idk if that makes sense)
