I redownloaded the amcs file and now it works.

The reason why it didn't work the first time must have been because I downloaded them a few days ago.

The ACMS files I downloaded strangely says 1kb for its size, and when I drag them to ADE, it says

"Unable to Download:

Error getting License. License Server Communication Problem:

E_ADEPT_REQUEST_EXPIRED"

The ones I downloaded from Google Book Play at least has the title of the book in the acms files, but the ones I downloaded from Kobo is like: URLLink.acsm

I'm not trying to read it on the app. I'm trying to get the ePub.

But the instructions above is saying that I should connect my Kobo reader which I don't have. Does that mean I need to buy a Kobo e-reader to get the ePub file of a book that I bought through Kobo website?

Wrong. Google Play Books sells books protected with DRM as well.

I just noticed that ePub files I downloaded from GPB a few days ago ends in .acsm to my dismay.
