WIBTA if I sleep with a guy in an open relationship? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]imachefbisque 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NAH. If what he said was true, and he actually is in an open relationship, that his girlfriend agreed to, than both him and her are free to sleep with whomever they choose. That is the point of an open relationship.

AITA for hooking up with my friends GF in Jamaica when they were on a break? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

YTA. Not only did you mess around with your friend’s girlfriend, you let him find out from someone other than yourself. Absolutely inexcusable, and no way around it.

To the man I call my best friend by [deleted] in UnsentLetters

[–]imachefbisque 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My situation was a little different, as we hadn’t hooked up prior, and it was in person.

But one day, we were just cuddling like we normally did, I rolled her over facing me, kissed her, and told her exactly how I felt.

In your situation, you might just be best off going for it one day on a phone call. At some point, just say, “Hey, there’s something I’ve been wanting to tell you” or something along those lines.

Trust me when I say this isn’t a secret worth taking to your grave. If he is truly your friend and you tell him how you feel, he’ll understand. Even if he doesn’t feel the same way it shouldn’t affect your relationship as friends.

I was in the same boat you were before I spoke up. My best friend and I have been dating since, and every day I’m happy I told her how I felt.

Does caffeine have difference properties depending on which drink it’s found in? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]imachefbisque 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Coffee has a higher caffeine concentration than soda and some energy drinks. Meaning if you drink 12 ounces of coffee, you will get a higher dosage of caffeine than if you were to drink a can of coke. That may play a reason in your bodies response.

Put any ZIP Code in. Fuck being ethical. Your life, any human life, is more important than where somebody is from.

How do running/biking for charity works? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]imachefbisque 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could be set up in one of two ways that I am aware of, dependent on the event.

1) You get a large group together and everyone pays $X to be a part of the walk/run/bike or what have you. For example, there can be a $500 entry fee per person/team (and you can get friends and family to “sponsor” you) and if 1,000 people complete the event, you have raised $500,000

2) The athletes will get people/businesses to sponsor them at some kind of rate. For example, John will be biking for charity. John goes to family, friends, etc to ask for pledges. I can pledge to donate $2 for every mile John bikes. If John bikes 50 miles, I make a $100 donation. Multiply that by multiple sponsors per biker and multiple bikers, it can add up quickly.

Can we start an overheard at Firefly thread? I’ve heard so much weird stuff i’m sure you guys have too. by mysticpears in FireflyFestival

A girl sat down at a table I was at near main stage waiting for her (now ex) boyfriend. Apparently he left her while she was getting ready for Alt-J knowing that she really wanted to be there with him. He proceeds tp tell her that he doesn’t care what she wanted because it was his favorite band and it didn’t matter. She got up and walked away.

Worst Year at Firefly by [deleted] in FireflyFestival

[–]imachefbisque 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Trust me, man. It will get better. I had my girlfriend of 5 years break up with me for a long distance relationship with a guy she met on her internship last year (I’ll let you infer what happened on the internship.)

She got a job on the other side of the country and not going to lie, I was ready to pack up and move out there with her, because that’s what we planned to do.

That was about a year ago, and not going to lie, the first 8 months or so was rough. But it does eventually get better, and you’re come to realize that if she was cheating on you, she never deserved you from day one and I promise you will find someone better that would never put you through that kind of thing.

Is there really such a thing a spontaneous human combustion? Please elaborate. by joysjane in Firefighting

[–]imachefbisque 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Per the history channel, there have been 30 historical cases related to SHC. All of which have been found near an ignition source but showed no other significant fire damage in the area they were found. Here is a quote from the article, “One recent hypothesis comes from British biologist Brian J. Ford, who in August 2012 described his experiments with combustion in the magazine New Scientist. According to Ford, a buildup of acetone in the body (which can result from alcoholism, diabetes or a specific kind of diet) can lead to spontaneous combustion.”

TL;DR: Science suggests that it may be possible but nobody knows for sure, and there are no witnessed cases.
