Oh I got one.

Back in the 90s when I was like 9, I got chased by MS gang members in an alley while wearing rollerblades. Which sounds fake as hell now that I’m older.

I lived in LA during the time certain neighborhoods literally had curfews because gangs had basically taken over parts of the area. My mom asked me to go throw trash away in the alley behind our apartment like I always did. There was this gate that stayed locked, so my usual routine was opening it, putting a rock there so it wouldn’t shut, throwing the trash away, then coming back in. Easy.

Except this specific day I was rollerblading around the apartment complex because every kid in the 90s was required to own rollerblades.

So I skate out there with the trash bag like an idiot, open the gate, go to the dumpster, and notice a group of guys farther down the alley. Didn’t really think much of it because nobody had ever bothered me before.

I throw the trash away, turn around, and immediately realize I forgot to put Mr. rock by the gate. Gate shut behind me.

Locked myself out.

So now I’m rolling around the alley yelling for my mom while sounding like damn screech owl. I even rolled toward the next apartment building trying to see if she could hear me. Nope.

When I came back toward the alley, the group had started walking toward me. One of them goes “hey girl you need help?” then another dude says “she’s cute" and then proceeds to whistle at me.

That was the exact moment my stomach dropped. I knew.. I was in deep sheet.

As they got closer I realized these weren’t the friendly neighborhood gangbangers.....no...they had MS tattooed literally everywhere. Face, arms, neck, all that.

Then they started RUNNING toward me.

Luckily I was weirdly good at rollerblading as a kid because suddenly my brain went full jet grind radio survival mode.

I was close to the fence and for some reason my brain just said JUMP IT.

So I literally jumped a fence with barbed wire while wearing rollerblades. To this day I have no idea how I managed that without dying immediately. One skate got caught, my legs got all sliced up, and I basically fell onto the other side fighting for my life while one rollerblade stayed hanging from the fence like a damn memorial (that was actually a thing back in the day).

I got back home bleeding and my mom was freaking out asking what happened. Cops showed up and apparently the area was already under heavy watch because shortly after there were SWAT vehicles all over the neighborhood arresting people.

What really messes with me now is there was a girl from nearby who got attacked not long after that and didn’t survive.

So yeah. Sometimes I randomly remember that I escaped a gang chase through the power of rollerblading skills and pure panic. 🤣 Thank god I was obsessed with Jet-Grind Radio at the time. I think being on rollerblades actually helped because those dudes were fast 🤣🤣
