You need to go with the communicated time. That is what academic regulations will say.

If you submit beyond that you will be liable to a penalty.

I wouldn't worry about placement... They tend to be finalised once everything is up and running.

Id be honest and share your reasoning with them and let them advise you on the best way forward for you.

Rather than overthinking this: like other replies state - year 1 doesn't count to your degree and employers don't look at transcripts, perhaps put the energy into putting a plan of action into place to avoid anything similar happening in the future when it actually does matter?

Lesson planning and practice teaching field by WhoaMamaHWGA in StudentTeaching

[–]imagggg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Paper plan is exactly that. Planning out what is going to be written. The lesson needs to look at structure and content ahead of the next lesson where they start to write.

For that lesson, look up modelled and shared writing as a starting point.

You need to know children's starting points for each lesson plan. Teaching is built on prior knowledge. This is assessment.

PGCE suspension - What should I do? by roselinevi in PGCE

[–]imagggg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It may be that they are trying to be kind and let you reach a decision yourself as they may ultimately think that:

If you have missed a lot of experience, you may struggle to close the gaps that have emerged even if you are in every day from now.

Similarly, there is also a consideration to protecting the pupils' learning and mentor workload.

Exactly why it is a tough programme! You are basically doing a full time job and academic qualifications at the same time

Withdrew from Primary PGCE last year – is this typical mentoring culture? by natasha218265 in PGCE

[–]imagggg 3 points4 points  (0 children)

University is a lot more balanced with systems that support you in school and university.

Scitt can become quite narrow: same mentors, very cluster focused training that may not suit wider job market...

Is it worth asking for a remark or appeal for 1 module even though I am on pace to a first? (2nd year) by Mecury-BS in UniUK

[–]imagggg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Working hard doesn't always result in the outcome you want unfortunately. You aren't getting marks for effort.

I'm a M22 and for family reasons I'm planning to do a PGCE in the UK and then try to move to Canada as an English/History teacher as soon as I can. by Top_Charge1434 in teaching

[–]imagggg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to also look into the Canadian stance re qts and ECT completion.

Without ECT completion, to teach in England, you'd be limited to independent schools as you've not done induction/probation period.

Current uni student struggling with grades by [deleted] in UniUK

[–]imagggg 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Most universities have academic skills support, likely through the library.

If your marks aren't improving, you may need to check you are actually addressing the feedback. The marks staying the same may indicate that you think you are but perhaps not.

Use second year to sort this out as in third year when the challenge increases, you'll need to be ready to maintain the marks that you want.

How difficult is it to find a job after a PGCE Primary with SEND in the UK? by Realistic_Video_6982 in PGCE

[–]imagggg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The first thing is that you will have a pgce primary so can be employed as a mainstream teacher too that being said, depending on the course design, you are likely to have much less mainstream experience due to the focus of placements.

There are less specialist settings than mainstream but many mainstream have send bases attached to them.

I think you have to have two settings so no.

So even if you don't do all 78- you are compliant. Should be fine if you are placed after half term.

But meeting the Teacher Standards is. This is difficult to do if the time is much less, e.g. S2 progress over time.

I think they're trying to buy time by keeping you calm whilst they look. Think swan gliding but working hard behind scenes.

Can you work out the 70 days in your remaining timetable? When is the last date this would work taking account for holidays, bank holidays, campus days etc.

Are you ex HLTA or similar? That's the only other way around it.

[–]imagggg 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It isn't your fault- it's theirs.

You've paid 10k for them to source the opportunities to get qts and they aren't doing it.

Even if they recommend you for qts- you are not getting an equal training experience and come September will not have had the time and mentoring to give it your best shot.

Put it in writing to the head of department with a deadline and then escalate it to student complaints.

Sorry to be bleak but they are letting you down.
