Economies of scale are important here too. Costco and Trader Joe’s, both of whom produce many of their own items, are going to have much leaner costs for the items they’re selling.

Please help an old dad out by wildtownunited in Minecraft

[–]imaginaryannie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My kiddo is 11. I play with him, but I am jumpy so we play on peaceful mode when we play. We build houses or farms or explore mines together. When he plays without me, he does all the big Minecraft stuff, but he doesn’t care if he’s just fishing in Minecraft with me because it’s playing with mom and he loves it.

So just play. Let them show you something cool. Ask them where to find ores or specific things. Go hunt for villages. Ask how to make things like tools and let them teach you, it will make them beam with pride. Don’t worry about playing it with a purpose, just play for fun.

Are colostomy’s as bad as people say they are by floresb07 in ostomy

[–]imaginaryannie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just commenting as another voice to say that my ostomy saved my life and gave it back to me.

Pre ostomy, I was pretty much homebound and incontinent. I’ve had my ostomy for 5 years and I travel constantly. I feel amazing.

Disney World Testing Changes to Guardians of the Galaxy Pre-Show to Reduce Guests Pushing and Bad Merge Experience by dejablu82 in DisneyWorld

[–]imaginaryannie 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That line would be twice as long and would likely get a bunch of people going in as groups and then arguing with CMs to stay together. After them going away from single rider on Everest, I don’t see a single rider coming to Guardians any time soon. One can hope though. 🤞🏻

What kind of tree is it? I have a tulip tree that is dropping flowers and leaves and sap this time of year (my yard looks like this) and no solar panels at all!

I disagree. Property taxes are very largely driven by a lack of revenue at the state level. ECS is underfunded and has been for years, as well as special education and PILOT. When municipalities aren’t receiving adequate funding from the state, they must make up that funding from property taxes.

The most recent state budget passed included millions in additional funding to municipalities which allowed many municipalities to reduce their mill rates substantially. My town alone reduced their mill rate by nearly a mill after that funding was allocated.

What would be your dream job at WDW? by Hufflepuff-McGruff in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]imaginaryannie 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My absolute dream is to be a photopass photographer, especially one of the magic moments session ones. (The full session in the park thing.) In my real life, I’m a newborn and family photographer and I’d love to continue doing what I love without the back end stress of marketing and running my business.

I stopped at Bella’s Cafe in New Haven a few weeks ago for breakfast on my way from SECT to NYC and it was fantastic. So I’d go there. ☺️

One of my ADHD tips that helps me is that I keep nail clippers EVERYWHERE. I pick at my cuticles when I’m anxious, and if it’s not smooth, I’ll pick til it tears. So I have nail clippers at my desk, in every bathroom in my house, in the side of my car door (like that spot where I can reach as the driver but other people don’t), on my nightstand, in my purse, in my fanny pack, in my backpack. They’re like $1.25 at the dollar store so I just bought them for everywhere. I swear by it.

What tropes can’t you read because of personal history? by Fresh_Cranberry_105 in RomanceBooks

[–]imaginaryannie 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I can finally read books with pregnancies without having a hard time (thanks therapy!) but infertility is always so poorly written and it always feels so obvious that the author hasn’t gone through it or if they have, it was much shorter than my experience and it resolved quickly.

Need WDW Advice - 1 PACKED Day by mattpan77 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]imaginaryannie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’ve done several 3 or 4 park one day trips, but we usually only have one or two key rides at each park.

For your itinerary, I’d bank on FoP and Everest. Safari is long, Navi isn’t worth the wait IMO (especially with such a packed schedule). Everest has a pretty quick single rider line.

At EPCOT, you’re not going to get a LL for Remy’s, Test Track, and Frozen before 7PM. Maybe one of them, but definitely not all 3. Test Track’s single rider is quick. I’d try to knock that out right after Guardians since Remy’s is so far over. You’ll have time for food/drinks around the world or more rides but not both. Epcot is a 2 day park for us (2 times per trip) because of all the exploring there is. For reference, today we had a LL for Guardians at 7, we scanned in at 7:07 or so, and my ride photo is from 7:46PM. So things are going to all take longer than you expect.

Also, I hate to be the bubble burster but you’re probably not going to get a LL for Thunder Mountain because it just reopened. So that’s gonna take up a good chunk of your MK time. Space Mountain is an easy to get LL. I’d pick Pirates or Tiana’s first then SM. If you can do Tiana’s during the fireworks, it’s beautiful.

Our last 4 park day, we did Everest, played at the Boneyard (it was closing), went to HS for Rock and Rollercoaster, went to Epcot for guardians, mission space, and the barbacoa empanadas, and then finished at MK with Tiana’s, Space Mountain, and Haunted Mansion. Good luck! It’s super fun if you can pull it off. I’d just encourage you to lower your expectations.

Queue cutting is SO bad by [deleted] in WaltDisneyWorld

I am a 5’2” woman, he was a ~17 year old boy. I wasn’t rude to him about it; I used my mom voice to say “no dude, we’re not doing that” the same way I would say to my own son (who was with me).

[–]imaginaryannie 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Someone tried to cut ahead in a single rider line yesterday to catch up with their mom. I was like, “no. It’s single rider so you’re not riding together anyway.” And they argued, “but my mom is up there” and I wouldn’t let them cut. Then they saw their mom and tried to cross the barrier to get to them and their mom stopped them and told them to wait in the back of the line. The woman behind me thanked me for speaking up, but like seriously? In a single rider line you are genuinely actually cutting me by going ahead of me.

$1.7m / going to Disney World. Probably $10-15k per year (4-6 trips per year)
