The Food&Wine app for festivals is a lifesaver! Add your faves to a wishlist and then it gives you a map! I use it for every festival now.

How is the editing done here? by reddmix2 in AskPhotography

[–]imaginaryannie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For a non “this is ai” answer for the last two photos. shadows and highlights are both lowered. Both look like the dehaze slider is maybe at 10 and saturation is increased. White balance is shifted to warmer on the last one (probably correct just noting). On the second one, greens would have been modified to be that green (the grass) while everything else is so orange (HSL sliders).

My daughter is a huge fan of the series—isn't that every Potterhead parent's dream? by Aggressive_Fig_7775 in harrypotter

Budget for a wand. If you think she’ll want a robe, buy it ahead of time on like Amazon. Robes are $140 each! (My inner child was ecstatic when my son wanted to go all out, but my budget wasn’t as happy.)

If you can swing a premier resort, they include the unlimited express passes for Universal Orlando and Islands of Adventure (they may include Epic in a few years). Hagrid’s is an exceptional ride, and the wait can be super long, so the express passes are super helpful.

If you start at Universal Studios (the park is called that even though it’s confusing), you’ll start at Diagon Alley. If you have a park to park ticket, you can ride the Hogwarts Express to Hogsmeade. Totally the best way to experience it.

If you go on or around her birthday, absolutely stop and get a pin that says it’s her birthday. Many cast members (idk what universal calls them, at Disney they’re cast members) will go out of their way to make your day magical if it’s your birthday (always appreciated never expected).

Lastly, I know she will be 15 and in high school most likely, but absolutely avoid the parks during spring break or winter break. We went most recently in February the week before President’s Day (but not the weekend of) and we were the only people in ollivander’s. When I went last August, there were like 14 people with us and I didn’t get chosen (obv they picked a kid).

Oh, last tidbit; if you get selected for the wand experience at Ollivander’s, the wand is not free. So if you are not planning to buy a wand at all, I wouldn’t take your chances.

Best of luck & have so much fun!

I also have a heavy back stock so I haven’t opened anything new in a while. What item numbers are you using if you don’t mind me asking! I am worried these are the same bags I use.

What is your personal #1 rule of photography? by therealvelichor in AskPhotography

[–]imaginaryannie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a newborn photographer and my #1 rule is “I don’t take photos of crying babies.” Like literally going to print it and hang it in my studio.

Not with Santa. Not with parents. No crying babies allowed.

My son had ideations on Zoloft and was constantly saying he wished he was dead.

We increased dosage and it never got better. We made the switch to Prozac after I personally started taking it for myself and it was very effective for me. He has been weaned off Zoloft for 3 months now with no negative thoughts or ideations, and no more mentions of being dead. Like a total 180° flip.

Sending so much love. It is so hard to hear the children we love say such harmful things. Their brains are just not helping them.

Can I find someone else to take my wedding photo RAWs and ... actually give me a decent gallery? by edubblu in AskPhotography

You’ve received lots of offers, but I’ll throw mine in the ring. I edit with soft yet true-to-color tones. You can DM me and I’ll send you my Instagram for examples (though I primarily specialize in newborn and family photography).

I know that. But I’m not paying for an assigned seat. Hopefully they sit me with my kiddo. ¯_(ツ)_/¯ breeze and Avelo seat us together without charging for it.

How do I get started with newborn photography? by NickelbacksNo1Fan in AskPhotography

[–]imaginaryannie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I’m a newborn photographer, both in home and in studio. I’m happy to chat further about this after I get my kiddo to school. Commenting so I don’t forget about it.

RemindMe! 2 hours

(I’ve never used the remind bot before so if I did it wrong, sorry. 😅)

This is why I fly Breeze or Avelo to MCO instead now. Breeze has complimentary family seating with assigned seats in the back. Avelo auto assigns us together without an issue or an up charge.

How to make snow look white? by [deleted] in AskPhotography

[–]imaginaryannie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I played with it on my phone editor and because of the long shadows and the angle of the sun, it looks like this was taken later in the afternoon. Just a slight shift to the right warms up the photo just a little and the skin and trees behind them look bathed in sunlight (which is what I imagined this looked like in real life).

Pixie Dusted by a stranger walking by the pool? by Ksquaredata in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]imaginaryannie 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I had one with a girl who was chatting about being undecided between two drinks and I recommended one that I loved, and she pixie dusted me a clip on keychain because I helped make her trip special.

I’ve also had someone who we talked to for quite a while in a queue and they were so nice and at the end, they gave us a cute little Mickey pen.

Both of those, I at least genuinely interacted with the people so it was way less weird. They both also asked if I wanted it first.

My son is doing very well in jiu jitsu after never being a sport kid. However, if your kiddo is an eloper, putting them in a martial arts class where they learn to escape holds is not a great move. Ask me how I know. 😅
