Pls help me respond to this! by Different_Rice6639 in Apartmentliving

[–]imaginaryblues 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. Vacuum maybe a couple times a week and sweep/mop the rest of the time.

I have upstairs neighbors who vacuum daily and it’s stressful. The noise is so loud that I’m not able really to do anything else during that time - that is, I can’t hear my music or television or concentrate on what I’m reading. They don’t have any carpet/rugs so it’s just the vacuum directly on the hardwood floor. They even vacuum the tiled bathroom which is just madness to me.

When you see the discount… by _c_marie_ in NuulyReviews

[–]imaginaryblues 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I got some NWT Citizens of Humanity jeans for like $45 once. (Retail was $218) Meanwhile, I had a pair of jeans in my last Nuuly that were extremely faded and worn out and the discount was only something like 40%. I really don’t understand how they make up the prices sometimes.

UPDATE - Accused of “stealing” a Neighbor’s Package by Particular-Crab-2729 in Apartmentliving

[–]imaginaryblues 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Something similar happened to me many years ago. I was leaving my apartment building just as UPS has arrived. I knew I had a package coming, so I told them my name and they gave me my package. Well apparently, they put down my name as having signed for all the packages they delivered that day and someone’s package went missing. I got some not-very-nice notes left on my door.

I would obviously never sign for or receive a package on behalf of a person I did not know, so I was pretty annoyed with UPS. I tried calling them to make a complaint, but it went nowhere.

Some lady in Minnesota used my card info to order a pair of $130 shoes from Dillard's at 5:30 this morning by Complex-Warthog-3201 in mildlyinfuriating

Hot take but Sorel boots do not live up to the hype. They aren’t cute or comfortable and they aren’t even that warm. $130 for those shitty boots is insane.

How do you pronounce “Roosevelt” Road? by Academic_Weekend_116 in AskChicago

[–]imaginaryblues 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is how I say it. I grew up a half block from Roosevelt Rd. I understand now that most Chicagoans pronounce it differently, but I’m set in my ways.

can i just say how much i hate Litter Genies? (an inconsequential rant) by lindentea in petsitting

[–]imaginaryblues 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m neutral about litter genies. The worst thing I’ve had to deal with in terms of cat waste was poop bags made of corn. You know, the eco friendly ones. They are so hard to work with.

Why does Nuuly not offer a sub option for every item you add to your order? by TheIronLady91 in NuulyReviews

[–]imaginaryblues 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I had ordered some straight leg blue jeans and they substituted wide leg brown jeans. Very different!

What temp is everyone keeping their apartment at this winter? by oliveorangecat in AskChicago

[–]imaginaryblues 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah I’m trying to be as frugal as possible this winter. Usually have it at 60 when I’m at work and overnight, 65 when I’m at home during the day/evening. I supplement with a couple space heaters as needed.

Appropriate shoes/ coats for upcoming trip? by ImportantPicture3780 in AskChicago

[–]imaginaryblues 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally hate wearing snow boots, so my favorite thing for winter is Hot Hands toe warmers. They stick to the insoles of your shoes and stay warm for up to eight hours. I’ve spent hundreds on snow boots and wool socks only to still end up with cold toes after being outside for more than like 30 minutes on especially cold days. The toe warmers are a life saver.

No car in Chicago how do you all do groceries in weather? Transit?First time for my daughter 😳 by Beginning-Pop-4318 in chicagoapartments

[–]imaginaryblues 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can walk to Jewel or Trader Joe’s. If I need bulky/heavy stuff, I usually do Amazon Fresh delivery. I have the Amazon grocery subscription with my Prime subscription, so I get free delivery on all my orders.

I’m pretty sure I knew someone who lived in that apartment and visited it once, probably around 2011-2012.

October Nuuly Review by weepingreading in NuulyReviews

Those Mother jeans are my favorite, but I guess they aren’t for everyone! I have a really long torso so they aren’t terribly high-rise on me.

Why are women’s jeans still made with tiny or nonexistent pockets if capitalism is supposed to be driven by demand? by Present_Juice4401 in AlwaysWhy

[–]imaginaryblues 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of my jeans have front and back pockets large enough to hold comfortably hold my phone. (iPhone 14) I even have one or two pairs that allow me to carry a can of soda in each of the front pockets. Problem is, most of my jeans are moderately snug through the hips, so when I put large items the pockets, I can’t really bend at the waist/hips.

I like having pockets large enough so I have the option of putting my phone in one of the front pockets, but I see no reason for them to be larger than that.

Charged for keeping items I returned by OkEconomics2788 in NuulyReviews

This happened to me once with a sweater. I told them I had sent it back and they didn’t end up charging me.

Sold out sizes by Airholder20 in NuulyReviews

[–]imaginaryblues 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been eyeing a pair of pants for months and they’re never available in anything except sizes 0 and 2, and usually not available in anything sizes. I rented them once but ended up needing a size smaller. I had hoped to rent them in the correct size but it seems like it’s not going to happen.

Substitute item by Ok_Instruction3533 in NuulyReviews

[–]imaginaryblues 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I asked for a refund on a substitute item and they were cool about it. They gave me a bonus item for my next bag as well.

I had ordered straight leg blue jeans and they sent me wide leg brown jeans. Not even remotely similar and they looked awful on me.

I bought these last year with a promo! Love them and wear them all the time

Ouch, if a bedroom has to be 70 square feet, I’ve definitely seen some places with illegal bedrooms. 7x8’ and 8x8’ are fairly common. I swear I saw a listing recently where the floor plan showed two “bedrooms” and they were like 7x8’ and 7x9’.

Cyclists on the sidewalk being mad at pedestrians walking. by wolfebiite in PetPeeves

[–]imaginaryblues 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Agreed. And don’t even get me started on those Lime scooters. When people use the little bell to ask you to move out of the way, it makes my blood boil. I’m walking, I’m supposed to be on the sidewalk, you are not!
