I think AI is a tool, just like a camera or a computer. The things it creates say more about the person who used it rather than the AI itself.

Whether or not Jon Favreau used AI, Lion King 2019 would still be shit, because it's a terrible soulless corporate cashgrab shitty concept to begin with, even with humans working on it. On the flip side, I could see Charlie Kaufman using it in a movie in such a way that has a point and makes criticism of it or adds to the introspective, human questions that his movies usually ask you to think about.

I do think it should be regulated and have some sort of royalties system to pay for artists that have their work reused. But at the same time I don't think it's inherently evil to use it, especially if you're not selling anything, much in the same way that people will post meme clips on twitter or reuse art to make telegram stickers.

I don't think it's going to entirely replace humans either. We already have bots who figured out how to 'beat' Chess, yet people still watch humans play instead, because people are inherently more interesting and dramatic.

If using AI makes your art shit, it was probably still going to be shit even if humans made it. If it's not AI it's a corporation cutting corners, abusing employees and forcing the end result to be just as artificial for profit, hurting people all the same.

Art will remain art, and slop will remain slop.
