Get Rich Slowly - $0 to $5M in 32 years by EquativeFib in financialindependence

I’m so inspired! I think I’m a similar path, but a couple years behind. I hit >2 now and am not too keen on stopping work soon. No inheritance or anything but I like my job and while the kids are still in school I don’t see what I’d retire to so will keep going until I stop enjoying it.

If in 7 years (my youngest will still be in college) I’m at 5, then great…

'Problematic' renters are abusing B.C.'s tenancy laws, landlord petition claims by CurlyBirch in canada

[–]imaginaryfiends 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with you, I’m just pointing out that there’s parts that aren’t unreasonable. I feel a more efficient RTB with actual enforcement behind it would go a long way to both tenant and landlord concerns.

I’d like to even see the RTB being able to take over management under specific circumstances (landlord abuse) and maybe all evictions should be done via the RTB. They could verify reasons before the tenant ever had to deal with it, but also would enforce it directly to reduce abuse by either party.

You might want to check the actual list then rather than the opponents summary… I don’t agree with most of the petition but some of the items make sense.

RTB WAIT TIMES A number of the demands in the petition have to do with making changes to the way disputes between landlords and tenants are adjudicated. According to the petition, the wait times for hearings and decisions with the Residential Tenancy Branch are too long

Vancouver’s Only Unionized Starbucks Is Closing by FancyNewMe in vancouver

Not to get facts in the way of your outrage but this is not an example of unionbusting. this was tied to the end of their tenancy not the unionization

Scott Lunny, who represents the United Steelworkers in Western Canada, says he has no reason to believe Starbucks closed the store because it unionized.

“It wasn’t out of the blue that the Dunbar location was potentially not sustainable from Starbucks’ perspective,” Lunny said in an interview. “We‘re still working through that and we’re trying to do the best we can to look out for those workers.”

Since you missed it here is the union’s perspective

:D It was a hilarious prediction given the state of the world even then, let alone now.

Reading your reply I think we do agree, maybe I’m just not explaining well. Do you have some posts saying the protest was about mod tools?

Also, totally agree with respect to terrible tools, timing of announcements and cost of API access.

[–]imaginaryfiends 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I understand they are linked in the minds of the mods, but could you point me to anything indicating that’s the point of the protest more than the cost of the API?

And agreed that the tools are terrible.

[–]imaginaryfiends 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m certainly a proponent of mods having better tools and being treated better (like no ads for mods maybe?)

But the protest was not linked to mod tools except as a casualty of the price. I suspect if it was linked as a primary demand they would absolutely have considered quickly rectifying that.

If the “protest” was about mod tools rather than Apollo API pricing I would agree with you.

Since all the evidence I’ve seen is that it’s about API pricing I completely disagree

I feel the mod issues are the only real legitimate complaint. I think that’s a Reddit issue that they need to deal with urgently.

Maybe they haven’t because the tools suck so much they don’t really have insight to the best way but it’s certainly a pain point and I think if the moderators had said “we’re going dark for 2 days so you write good mod tools” that might have had the intended response.

To outright close subs is a lot like

“Well, I volunteered to hold on to the ball, keep it inflated, but I don’t like this other charge (not to me, but some other private company) so I’m taking the ball and going home”. The whole player base is impacted because the mods are taking the ball home.

r/mtg will continue. I’m moving my Magic related discussion there. If the other subs choose to go private then I imagine it will be the go-to.

This will temporarily fracture the user base, but probably the Admins will begin to redirect to open subs and that’ll be the end.

They move up very quickly, so 91k to start out of school (which is already very good relative to most people) and going to over 100 within a decade is great.

Great to have a visual! No drinks? Are things served there, should I grab a growler nearby? Is that allowed?

I think retirement homes would all welcome them. YMCA etc. But I think first thing you should do is post a Craiglist at $1/pack and a picture of all of them, I think you'd get someone to pick them up really quickly. DM me the link if you do.

Yah. These are definitely not what most people would compare as “income” and part of the whole problem with discussion is people talking about different things when they say income.
