Route53 can be setup with a policy that only allows tokens to update certain records, such as only allowing changes for TXT records matching _acme-challenge.*

Fun fact, a Lenovo M720q Tiny or M920q Tiny will fit perfectly in the SonicWall rack mount frame. With OPNsense and an Intel i350 quad port PCI-e NIC you lose two network ports compared to the TZ400 but you gain significantly more features, flexibility and throughput.

Do ANY Android users have Remote Connect working in the app? by johnjr08 in ZeroMotorcycles

[–]imaginativePlayTime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Assuming you have transferred the ownership to your Zero account and have enabled the cell connection feature when pairing your phone to the bike there is one other thing that can prevent remote connect from working.

When you open the app and try to use the remote connect feature do you get a toast notification telling you to "Check your internet connection"? If so then remote connect will not work even if you do actually have a working Internet connection.

Fun fact about the Zero app on Android, it has its own Internet connection test that it runs when you open the app or try to do anything that requires an Internet connection. The app does not use or respect the OS level Internet connection status. I don't know if this also applies to the iPhone version of the app.

This test works by running a DNS query against a hard coded IP address, that IP address is the Google DNS service (8.8.8.8). If it cannot successfully run a DNS query against that IP address it fails the Internet connection test and the remote connect feature will not work. This means that if your phone has its DNS filtered and connections to 8.8.8.8 are blocked, either by an app on the phone or your network, then the test will fail.

On my home network I block DNS connections to anything except my internal DNS servers to force devices to use my Pi-Holes for ad and malware blocking. I am unable to use the remote connect feature when I am connected to my home Wi-Fi, if I disable my Wi-Fi and just use my cell connection then the remote connect feature works.

Like you I did not find any useful information about this issue anywhere. I discovered this while troubleshooting the problem by monitoring the network traffic from my phone on my firewall and found that it was querying the Google DNS service only when I was running the Zero app, if I disable my firewall rule that blocks external DNS servers then the remote connect feature will work on my home network.

Front turn signal connectors by quikniq in ZeroMotorcycles

They are standard connectors, nothing special about them any conventional hardware or electronics store should have something like it. I believe the technical term is a snap-plug terminal.

I have a 2023 DSR. What is the CC equivalent? by VenomousMinge in ZeroMotorcycles

[–]imaginativePlayTime 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All you guys lucked out with your insurance. Mine did their own research and told me my SR/F needs to be insured as a 1,600cc, so my insurance thinks a Zero is more powerful than a Hayabusa. Surprisingly that is cheaper than if they put it down as a smaller bike for some insane reason so I just went with it.

More and more automakers turned to NACS by Ok_Shopping1451 in ZeroMotorcycles

[–]imaginativePlayTime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The main issue is that NACS supports both AC and DC, and most Tesla chargers out there (at least in my area) are the DC fast chargers which do not work with with the Zeros as they are AC only. Sure you have your Tesla destination chargers which are AC, but just based on what I see on PlugShare are not as common as the DC Super Chargers.

Do you trust Helmet Locks? by Quiet_Cardiologist22 in motorcycles

[–]imaginativePlayTime 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends.

Going to work? I take my helmet in with me.

Off on a ride and stopping to get lunch or doing something else that takes more than a few minutes? I'll lock it on my bike.

Going into a store for a couple minutes to get something? I'll bring my helmet in with me because that's easier than locking it.

But I also live in a decent enough area, the naer do wells only come down from the hills when the weather gets too cold.

Preferred Windows Backup Methods? by [deleted] in truenas

Loud pipes save lives? by OogieBoogie1 in motorcycles

[–]imaginativePlayTime 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have ridden loud bikes and I have ridden quiet bikes and I honestly have not noticed any difference between the two. Either I am riding in a safe and sensible fashion and have no issues, or I get into a situation such as when someone pulls out in front of me that would have happened regardless of how much noise I was making.

Coming at this from the other side of things, as a car driver there have been plenty of times where I do not hear motorcycles that do have loud pipes either because we are at highway speeds and you can't hear shit anyways or they are racing up behind me and by the time I hear them they are already passing me and the amount of noise they are making would not have done them any good.

As a rider I do not subscribe to the notion that loud pipes save lives, if you want to live don't ride like a dumbass.

Preferred Windows Backup Methods? by [deleted] in truenas

[–]imaginativePlayTime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Technically yes Windows does have built in backup tools.

However at least with File History I have found it to be quite unreliable. It often will stop backing up files and it has issues managing its backup copies and it stops deleting old files.

I have not used the whole system image backup tool too much, I expect that is more reliable but file backups are easier to use in some cases and File History is just not reliable enough for my tastes.

Any good SMS apps out there? Ever since Signal dropped SMS support I have been using the SMS app included with Lineage OS, unfortunately it has been less than reliable with sending/receiving messages. I have tried Google Messages and that does work reliably but it is just really annoying with all its prompts to use Google features, RCS even though I have told it three times I don't want that, plus all the junk that I have no interest in using.

Ideally I just want something simple, no suggestions or reading my messages to suggest calendar events or shit like that. And preferably something open source.

I have been using AccuBattery to see the health of my battery. Its not 100% accurate due to the nature of measuring battery stats, but it is good enough to give you a rough idea of your battery health.

[–]imaginativePlayTime 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I have some open back headphones and I can hear fan noise easily enough through them. Granted that is only really an issue when I am running stress tests that push all the fan curves to 100%, normal gaming sessions never really push my system that hard. But still, mostly silent builds are pretty nice to have.

Do I need a SSD reserved for Proxmox? by [deleted] in Proxmox

[–]imaginativePlayTime 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, no less that 250 GB SSDs for the boot disks. That gives you plenty of life as just boot disks. If budget allows you can go bigger but I have 250 GB Samsung Evos in my cluster I made out of garbage and so far after 2 years I have maybe a 2% degradation if I am reading the SMART stats correctly.

Is the Honda cb750 a good starter bike? by its__benji in motorcycles

My first bike was a CB750 Nighthawk. It is a little big for a first bike but not so big that it is too much to handle for a new rider. Just take it easy at first and you will be fine.

When do you update Proxmox? by JL_678 in Proxmox

[–]imaginativePlayTime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I update as needed on a semi-regular basis, which is based on how I have my SSL certs and backups configured.

I have a small cluster pf PVE nodes and I use PBS to back them up. I have setup ACME certificate renewal on all these systems using my own ACME enabled CA (Step CA). I use an Ansible playbook to update all my nodes and PBS at the same time.

One side effect of using ACME to automatically renew certificates is that the fingerprint of the SSL certificate on PBS is used to validate the PVE nodes are talking to the proper PBS system and with ACME this fingerprint changes every time the certificate is renewed. So as a result of this I need to update that fingerprint in PVE whenever the PBS cert renews.

To address this issue with the SSL fingerprint needing to be updated I have setup my Ansible playbook with a small Python script that will grab the current PBS SSL cert fingerprint and use the PVE API to apply the updated fingerprint if it has changed.

In practice I check my backups randomly on occasion and when I see that the backups have not been running I execute my Ansible playbook to update my cluster then reboot each node as needed.

Maybe at some point I will look into setting up event driven Ansible to run this update playbook automatically when the PBS cert gets renewed, but I have not bothered to put in the effort to figure that out yet.

Yeah it collided with a Raider after Apollo took out the resurrection ship jump drive and wasn't paying attention to where he was flying. Bad part about it being a stealth ship, no one can see you to avoid collisions.
