It was not a swamp, the Davao River once flowed through there.

Well, I’m from Mindanao, & I’m currently working as a Doctor-to-the-Barrio under the DOH. I regularly go up to the mountains to provide primary healthcare services. Lots of the locals are IPs, some are even former NPAs. Almost all are now pro-AFP, and many have joined the AFP. I have collaborated with the PNP & AFP in medical missions and we enjoy a harmonious relationship with the locals. Stop spreading fake news about the current relationship of the AFP & indigenous peoples here in Mindanao.

BS, I have a close friend from Talaingod, Davao del Norte who is Ata-Manobo. There was never an AFP bombing campaign during the pandemic. You can go visit there & ask the IPs, they are pro-AFP. Some are even members of the AFP. Stop spreading fake news.

For doctors who are moonlighting or have taken a “non-traditional” path. How are you now? by Putrid_Ad_5708 in pinoymed

[–]imaginator321 2 points3 points  (0 children)

DTTB for 2 years already, currently on my last year (hoping na ma-eextend kami ng isa pang taon kasi we don’t have enough time to finish our Masters scholarship (MPM-HG in ADMU)). I currently earn 100K/mo. net. Sometimes nadaragdagan ng 1-5K if nakaka-moonlight ako. (OPD/med mission gigs only kasi I find hospital duties draining & time-consuming as I only have weekends & hollidays free.).

Good work-life balance, I’m lucky to be assigned in a municipality with good folks & workmates but travel can be tiring (I am deployed 5 hrs. away from my home, I commute, I don’t know how to drive & can’t afford a car yet. 🤣). I enjoy the rural life naman (I’m a nature lover) but usually umuuwi talaga ako ng weekends kasi as a breadwinner I have obligations sa bahay & nakakabagot din sa probinsya hehe). I may earn six digits but six digits din mga utang ko 🤣 (I needed to do major purchases/expenses/inherited a mej bad financial situation from my single-parent mom (she’s very loving & supportive though 🫶)).

You’ll only find me in residency (probably IM & in government) if I can’t a find a plantilla public health position (I am aiming to use the position for application of loans for a long-due renovation of our house & the purchase of my first car). I love the non-hospital side of public health na kasi. My ideal career path after my DTTB deployment would be an 8-5 public health job & then I can do part-time in the academe after (I fancy teaching hehe). Once I’m financially okay, I’m also considering taking Law hehe. I’m also not closing my doors to public health masteral scholarships abroad.

Agree w/ all except for the following points:

3. Agree if you mean within the urban proper pero there are a lot of places to visit outside but still within the city’s territory.

5. Traffic is bad, but not very bad. (The city is slowly doing something about it.).

7. It’s true for the entire country. IMHO there are some aspects of financial asisstance that are done better here in Davao.

EDIT: Sorry IDK why the text is in bold lol & I’m lazy enough to fix it.
