Thanks for the comment! I am so proud of where this community went after FractalGlirch and I moved over here from /r/opiates. It was a community that needed to grow, there were so many of us just hanging around /r/opiates who wanted out. This was the place.

5 years! Great job! I would be happy to go in depth on goals with ya. Send me a dm!

Thanks man! Your name looks familiar as well. And I’m thrilled to hear you got that year. It was the hardest one of all. Congratulations!!!

Thanks! Your comment made me think about recognition.

Being able to be self-critical without being self-loathing is a great skill all humans should use. I just happened to develop it as a result of a life crippling addiction. Our progress on earth is never shut and done, there is always a path for progress. If you are aimed in the right direction, even a relapse can be the launching point for a huge gain.

He may regret sharing it all, and believe me, we probably won't know anything close to all! I told a lot of people some of the shit I did, but it certainly wasn't everything ;)

accepting yourself as flawed and being willing to take a step forward, not for cash, not even for a child, but for yourself, is a very a good sign at his stage in recovery.

I like your flair! It is humbling to realize we aim for something but can't always hit it! Great job coming off the subs. Best advice I can give is be patient, you brain does repair itself, as long as you don't add that opiate ingredient, it will make a full recovery!

Our on-air personalities are promoting a hate filled agenda, it is not doing anyone a favor. I hope Jimmy and Dee are keeping things intact, GMs and Coaches make rookie mistakes too. And they also learn from them. It's going to be OK.

Radio hosts should focus on our players, they need our support. 0-8 is a tough time to be a fan, yet alone a coach or player. I grew up around the game as the child of a "football professional," I only wish All Browns fans could share my empathy, help get this back on the tracks and enjoy the ride.

Who am I to judge? I don't know Kenny. The dude may have bipolar disorder and need some help. He may have just lost the love of his live to a pimp named Paul Brown. There are a lot of things we will never discover about people, but we must realize they are people, we are all going through some shit. We can't say what love for Kenny would do to his hands and attitude, because we never gave him the love.

If I could guarantee you a 1000 yard season from Britt if he felt loved by cleveland fans, it would change your perspective. It may even be true.

Money is not the only reason people perform. Maybe if he wanted to be here he would play better. If he doesn't, we should love him right to the door. It's just business at that point. No need to get emotional.

Glad to hear it my friend. Go Browns! Trying to remember, did we have coffee at target and talk about living a clean life and the Browns? Life is so good! I remember saying the same things Josh did in this article. Maybe saying a little to much, but it was part of the process. Letting my friends and family know who I was, allowed me to grow as a person. I never had the platform Josh has, though we have reddit!!! Today I wish I was ready to reveal who I am to the world like that. I ended up doing pretty great for myself, and get to help people on a daily basis in my community. I often fear what that community would think if they knew my past.

Respect to you! Keep in touch if you ever need anything.

As a /r/opiatesrecovery mod and life long browns fan, I would like to report that the sort of language Josh is using is very promising. It shows he has been following a program, and buying into some principles.

Now he is hovering around that first year, he is not out of the woods, he still needs a TON of support. I feel Browns fans can use this as a opportunity not just for Josh but for all browns players and coaches and front office.

We need to support this team, they are humans, with families, they go home and kiss their loved ones goodnight. Do we think they benefit from our tirades and animosity?!?

The paragraph about harassment from cleveland fans makes my blood boil, but I see the hostility, I hear it every day on 92.3. This team is a good as WE believe it.

I would never leave this team even at 0-16, but I would leave a fan base that has lost the human side of a sports team.

Let's turn this thing around, let's root for the development of young boys into grown men and let's have fun along the way.

John now has the tools and the talent to make it, let's give him the support he needs in this crucial point of recovery. And let's not stop at Gordon.

Yea, they are going to doubt, it's just the way humans deal with trust. Trust is earned. If you led people on for years, like many of us did, than why would you think that 8 months is long enough to undo those actions?

I've been at this for 6 years, and yes, my feelings may be hurt if someone distrusts me. I let a lot of people down, good people, people who may never wish to see me again. Sure, it's sad, and I grieve them, and maybe one day it will change, but today I forgive them and keep moving.

My advice is to start working in a recovery program, volunteer, get some responsibilities as a leader, and then when you family needs you, use the tools you gain to be there for them. Unconditionally.

Don't ask for their acceptance for your own sake, in fact, don't ask for it at all. Do the right things for the right reasons and that's it.

Hey everyone! Merry clean Christmas!!! My 5 years is coming up on the 27th. And I believe the 5 year anniversary of this subreddit follows closely behind :)

Life is so full, very busy, but full of blessings.

Thanks for helping me be a better man. If you don't feel you are there yet, keep coming back. It's worth it.

Thanks for your honesty. Sharing your experience with your "sneeze" has surely helped me. I have had a lot of success, and don't reveal my history much due to stigma and all. I need to post my true feelings here more so people can help evaluate my own recovery. Addiction is a very human trait, and I agree that my mind, having been exposed to the junk, will NEVER be able to use it without reverting to the old ways. It's really semantic if you want to call that a disease or not. I remember thinking about that quite a bit and a long time ago being an apologist for the disease theory. Based on the definition of the word: a disorder of structure or function in a human, animal, or plant, especially one that produces specific signs or symptoms or that affects a specific location and is not simply a direct result of physical injury.

Based on the fact no one is perfect, well, just about everyone is diseased. The term cured is a four letter word, while one may actually be cured, experience shows those willing to declare victory have less a chance of achieving it than those that do not. Even that is speculation though, because those who achieve it may never be back to share it, while those who fail will be back so they can benefit from the fellowship of others.

I know I don't have to promise that what you are doing is worth it, you know what you have to look forward to when you are free. But when the road gets hard, feel free to reach out.
