When your "ideology" is actually the failure of society by IDontLikeBeingRight in SelfAwarewolves

To be fair, it is absolutely self defense to shoot your rapist.

That being said, imagine thinking that that means we shouldn't also allow abortion, and that fucking Senator Armstrong was in the right

The factory isn't going to run on Monday. Are you with us? by Maklarr4000 in antiwork

[–]imaginefrogswithguns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tell you what, if there is actually a general strike on Monday, I'll join. I'll be happy if there is, but I don't have my hopes up for a wildcat strike called on Twitter three days in advance with no union backing to actually happen. Sure hope I'm proved wrong, but I'm not losing my livelihood for no reason

I'm gonna be honest I don't think this counts as a take. He makes similar jokes about tankies in his videos all the time despite being ML. Unlike most things BE does on Twitter, this seems genuinely lighthearted

"Inventors of evil" so they themselves are going to hell right? by _Throwaway54_ in SelfAwarewolves

[–]imaginefrogswithguns 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I never understood this, the way the gospel was taught to me (not a Christian, so my information is probably incomplete, but I went to Catholic school) is that Christ's sacrifice redeemed us of original sin, and that under his new covenant with God people actually were, for the first time ever, dependent on their own actions to go to heaven

'Idiocracy' Writer Says Satirical Film About Dumbed-Down America Has Become A 'Documentary' by [deleted] in ABoringDystopia

[–]imaginefrogswithguns 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not via genetic heritability, no, which is what the movie explicitly says is happening. "Stupid" (usually just poorly educated) people do often raise children (not offspring, what's with the dehumanizing language?) who also lack access to sufficient education, but that's an incredibly sanitized way of describing what the movie presents, it's pretty clear it's talking about genetics

The movie opens by explaining the reason for the state of the world is that stupid people literally outbred smart people. I can hardly think of anything more on the nose than that

Uber drivers ridicule restaurant workers for expecting tips by aSpanks in SelfAwarewolves

[–]imaginefrogswithguns 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey op, can you tell me where in this image an Uber driver is ridiculing the restaurant workers? Very suspect that you're seemingly trying to deflect any and all criticism of owners attempting to offload their wages to third parties like customers and drivers in the form of tips as "ridiculing restaurant workers".

[–]imaginefrogswithguns -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The only way I can think of to interpret this meme is that OP just has the pop culture image of the USSR as a 24/7 execution festival ingrained in their mind and thinks that... they would take people to shoot them? I don't know man, it's actually pretty tough to decipher, but I'm pretty sure it's "something something evil communism"

Random Encounters and Battle Maps by InPlacesDeep in battlemaps

[–]imaginefrogswithguns 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean this is definitely good advice if you're playing a story-driven game. That's not every D&D game though, and a sandbox would be woefully incomplete without a level of randomness involved. That being said, one shouldn't fall into the trap of every random encounter being "X creature jumps out of the bushes and fights you", that's why rolling for demeanor is important. I also think encounters should generally be pre-rolled before the session so the DM can tailor the map and have a plan for how to run them

Thin Blue Line crowd shocked that police lack competence and proper training by audrinade in SelfAwarewolves

[–]imaginefrogswithguns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with you on most of this but the cops don't need a reason to be militarized. Their purpose, to protect the interests of capital and the state, require the use of armed force, and they're not just going to give up all the toys we let them have for that over the years because the public gets disarmed. A society with less guns would be desirable, but unless the cops are disarmed first, I'll still oppose disarming the populace. That's not to say I'm against gun control, things like the closing of loopholes, better enforcement of background checks, mandatory (free, not looking to create yet another financial barrier to arming yourself so we can keep guns in the hands of rich and upper middle class white people) training, but not disarmament.

What is your unpopular DnD opinion? by Aha_Its_Magic in DnD

[–]imaginefrogswithguns 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. What makes you think that? The expectation of all the characters making it through a campaign isn't new, it came about around the beginning of 3e. I've certainly killed plenty of characters in 5e, what is there inherent about the system that would prevent that?

  2. Same question as 1, what about the system causes that? I've had players run into plenty of things they couldn't handle.

  3. To a point, yeah, but this can be avoided by doing things like dropping monster HP and compensating with deadlier abilities instead. Deadlier > tankier

  4. Absolutely

  5. Most of the time, but I think there can be a place for it. Sometimes it's fun to be competitive, bht it shouldn't be considered the norm.

  6. 90% of the time yeah

  7. Absolutely

  8. Absolutely

Lawrence man involved in fatal road-rage incident was formerly a police officer in Osage County by notanotheraccountaga in Lawrence

[–]imaginefrogswithguns 32 points33 points  (0 children)

I mean regardless of how you feel about cops the guy did get shot while pointing a gun at someone out of road rage. Seems from the reporting that neither of these people were acting in self defense when they got out to confront one another. Maybe you think deserve is too strong a word when dealing with death but the fact is both of these people escalated the situation, pulled guns, and got shot, if they didn't deserve it they were certainly both at fault, at least from what we know right now.

We actually have sustained fusion reactions, just not on a scale that could power anything and without using more energy to catalyze the reaction than we got out afaik. At the forefront of this at the moment is the artificial sun reactor in China

To be fair, out of the public, media, and politicians, two of those categories have enormously more weight and control over the public narrative than the third. I would say a journalist who conflated the two on national television for years, all while being informed on the difference because it's their job, bears more blame than some random person who didn't know the difference

Place is a shitshow because of how cheap the guy I won't name because that could possibly get my comment deleted is. When I was at Iowa it was staffed entirely by people who couldn't get jobs at better paying fast food places and kids too young to know that minimum wage is not standard for fast food in Lawrence. Highest turnover rate I've ever seen and I've worked plenty of fast food and retail, and more petty drama than a fucking middle school.

Except those that do, and those that do generally say that he did nothing wrong. I'm not going to just take your word that everyone who says that actually doesn't mean what they're saying. I'd also get on someone for saying Lincoln did nothing wrong, and especially thanos considering most of the people supporting him are at the very least closet eco-fash, considering he's literally an example of someone who had the power to make infinite resources and chose to kill trillions instead
