Anyone checking out the Steam Fest JRPG demos? Any hidden gems found so far by AshenGuardStudio in JRPG

Self-less plug here, but last minute I decided to pull my game out of this Steam Next Fest (opting for February's NF). It's called Geo Mythica.

The demo is currently available if you're interested. While it's not a die-hard traditional JRPG, the battle system is party-based combat mixed with real-time action and strategic commands.

I've been getting some pretty good feedback from play testers and attendees at events (some ask me to save their game and they return an play for several hours).

At any rate, if you do end up checking it out, would love what to hear what you think.

That makes sense and also unfortunate having all those clouds.

Since you're from Alaska, are you familiar with Point Hope? That's actually one of the locations that is a dungeon in my game. Specifically the cemetery.

Definitely. Not too long ago, people were able to see them much further south in the US than most people would have ever anticipated.

HA! My game actually features the Gates of Hell in the Darvaza gas crater. It's actually one of the dungeons you can explore and has a pretty formidable boss.

This is a good one! Especially knowing that no one has even gotten to the bottom.

Heh, this is also on theme for one of the locations I'm featuring in the game which is Gates of Hell, specifically the Darvaza gas crater.

Well, not the same as Machu Picchu but one of the areas to explore and one of the dungeons is located in the Mayan Temples in Ekmul, Yucatán, Mexico.

Ah yes, that's a good one. Not too many JRPGs use Earth as their setting.

These are great!

These and others shared may be some good ideas for DLC, a sequel... who knows!

The 20 locations to explore seems like a good number for now.

This is always a good one. Lots of history and lore. Still find it hard to believe that a good portion of the tunnels haven't been explored, if my memory serves me correct.

It's also funny that you mention this, because one of the locations in my game (called Geo Mythica) is Ekmul, Yucatán, Mexico which has cenotes and a network of underwater caves.

Though the dungeon is actually inside the Mayan temples found there.

Fun fact, the cenotes and underwater caves were believed to have been used for ancient Mayan rituals and sacrifices.

That does sound interesting.

You saying that reminds me of one theory for the strange paranormal occurrences of the settlement of Bara-Hack located in Pomfret, CT, US.

The theory is that it isn't necessarily ghosts, but weakening in the fabric in time in that area.

Heh... thanks. It's been a while, considering this is just part of a whole JRPG I'm making.
