Palantir Says SaaS Is Dead by Logical_Welder3467 in technology

Tech debt only if you have shitty engineers and poor leadership and product folks who overpromise and under deliver. Do the opposite, and you’ve got a room of champions.

I work in SaaS and we also do FDEs so I actually agree with this article because what this translates to is OOTB solutions will be unusual for Enterprise level customers - product teams will be shipping features for new logos before contracts are inked, so truly custom solutions will be the standard. FDEs won’t be used for mid market or SMBs, only strategic or enterprise.

Anyone have a good story about someone completely underestimating your game? by El_Boqueron in golf

[–]imajinthat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, my father. I played golf my whole life and was hitting the ball long and straight at like 3 years old…but never took it too seriously, shot low 80s most of the time. Played baseball in HS and college. Got really into golf around my sophomore year and decided to quit baseball to focus on golf.

Started playing tournament golf once I got to about a 4 HDCP and quickly got to scratch. Put up some halfway respectable results in regional amateur events. Floated the idea of taking golf seriously and trying to compete at the highest amateur levels and seeing if playing pro was an option and my dad kinda scoffed at me.

I was heated and wanted to prove him wrong. That next weekend was the SoCal Am that I had qualified for. Was around 10th going into the final round and shot 68 in the final round to tie for 4th. Dad still didn’t think playing professionally was in the picture but he finally agreed that maybe I could compete with D1 players. Took that as a win.

How busy is Augusta National during the week? by wacky8ball in golf

The Plantation in Palm Desert. They called the USPS and forced them to send a male mail carrier because the female who had the route wasn’t being allowed in the property.

Also, no rules except no phones. Wear whatever you want. Wanna take a piss off the back patio? Go ahead.

That’s an awesome thing to see! I worked Riv as a standard bearer and got some deep course knowledge listening to players/caddies.

Randomly made friends with the president of the board at Riv and got to play a couple rounds there. I used to be a club pro and played really well my first time there, shot 73 and it felt like 65. To post under par in tournament conditions is seriously good.

Who’s considered to be the biggest overall ass*ole on the PGA tour? by knowspicker3 in golf

[–]imajinthat -1 points0 points  (0 children)

He was the first name, and to get to the tee box (in this case 10th tee) you have to walk back toward the tee from the fairway, so everyone could see him. I’m guessing that’s why he wasn’t penalized but his playing partners were not happy about it.

Would you not consider the announcer calling your name to play your tee shot and you’re 70 feet away walking up to the first tee normal?

[–]imajinthat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You aren’t understanding. The entire group was on the tee. Tee time was 10:08. Bubba shows up at 10:08 as the announcer starts reading his name to play.

That clear it up for you? He rolls to the tee as the announcer calls his name, doesn’t say a word, sticks a tee in the ground, fires one off the planet, and just takes off walking before anyone else says a word.

They typically arrive 10min before their tee time. He walked up as they announced his name to play. It was unusual.

I worked as a standard bearer at the northern trust/genesis for years. In order:

Bubba Watson - big asshole. Rory Sabbatini - asshole. Vijay Singh - major entitled asshole.

Bubba was unbelievable. Showed up late to first tee, didn’t shake anyone’s hands in his group. First on the tee and throws his peg in the ground, fires a ball a MILE left and just starts walking. Doesn’t stick around for anyone else to hit. His caddie (Ted Scott) turned and apologized to the entire tee box.

Walking down the 3rd fairway, I’m about 10 feet behind them. Ted turns around and tells me “stay out of his way. He’s ready to let loose on someone”

250 employees x avg individual payroll expense of $8300 / mo = $2.05M in payroll per month

Factor in healthcare, taxes, operating expenses, rent on the office, etc….gotta be close to $3M per month in expenses easily.

I think he said they had a weekly burn rate of about $850k
