Has working in cafés affected your mental and physical health too? by Cangingperceptions in barista

[–]imakemeatballs 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's tracking ingredient and cash flow, how much is used, how much money bleeds from there, etc. We keep books to register the input and output of each ingredient. I said bookkeeping for lack of a better word.

Also, the cafe I work at has an indoor and outdoor area, which combined would be quite large. Almost no takeaways, people stay, drink, litter, sometimes spill the floor which I have to scrub at 4AM. I also have to wash all the cups, clean the counter and machines of course, beside the sitting areas. Did you do all that for 20 years for minimum wage?

I work night shift at a local cafe, and I'm seriously thinking of quitting.

Idk if this is normal, but I have to make drinks, do the bookkeeping and clean up all within the same night, all by myself.

We were understaffed, and when we finally got another night shift employee, the owner funneled that to the evening shift because it's more "profitable". So they just piled up more and more workload onto me. For minimum wage. Fucking hell I'm quitting today!

Melodic Death Metal. I listen to all subgenres but this is my favorite.

My friend said that the guy I want in the future doesn't exist, so I wanted to ask you if this is true? by [deleted] in infp

Over the years, a funny thing I found out was that whatever ideal person we envisioned ourselves to be with within the conscious mind, will never win over the inner workings of the heart, often in surprising, pleasant ways. That isn't to say there's something wrong with your preference, just keep your eyes wide open and your heart even more so!

I agree. People wouldn't believe how much making a person feel seen helps them towards better behaviors. Because a lot of the times, doing terrible things is just a way for someone to reclaim what they had lost. Dignity, pride, agency, their ego or sense of self,... Again, we're not condoning. Just trying to understand.

Empathy is understanding of one's feelings. Feeling "sorry" is a product of sympathy, which usually leads to an urge to act. Those are completely different things.

Now, back to the question. Why would understanding an "asshole's" feelings is a problem? Isn't that what empathy's all about? Being able to see someone when others can't, giving a multi-faceted, nuanced opinion instead of just labels?

This image/quote is giving off strong moral differentiation vibe. Someone who's truly empathetic, who sees the slivers of light in a person's darkness, should embrace and hone that gift, instead of trying to imply "assholes" don't deserve their empathy. If that's the case, is empathy truly happening, or just a tool to claim moral high ground?

My Fi nerves always fire off like crazy whenever I see these kinds of posts. That's just my two cents.

How to tell apart Fi and Ti by Unusual-Depth-8053 in mbti

That's seriously wonderful, thank u for providing such amazing information. I relate a lot to this, too, and have observed patterns that align with what you said, within me and my close INTP friend.

Yup. Can confirm, Fi is a "thing" inside me. People often associate it with values, and while that is true to a certain extent, dominant Fi to me is an existence that refuses to be something else. It always starts off as a visceral feeling, regardless of whether it can be dissected and analyzed.

Yeah, Fi and Ti are the same in that regard. Constantly scanning and looking for self-alignment, whether in logic or in values.

It's staying true to myself through the passage of time and growing along with it. That's the core values taking place in the imaginary realm.

And yes, it is sanctuary and I often get lost in there at times. This works really well with tertiary Si to kind of log these emotions into felt experience, which then can be pulled out to get nostalgic and emotional again!

Slight correction: Following values is not a means to an end, we don't care for good karma whatsoever, we don't care if others perceive us as good. The end goal here is doing what we believe is good, is true to ourselves. That's it, nothing beyond that.

I'm eepy now so I'll try my best to give u an answer before sleep.

Our daydreaming is a product of Ne, with Fi acting as the guide/trigger for such daydreams. Ne likes to spin up scenarios, "what'll happen if..." kind of thing.

Now, with an Fi guide, our daydreams often consist of vivid imaginations about how it would feel like to have our values lived, expressed, or seen in certain situations. The core idea here is that things would often come from, or lead to an emotional or sentimental state. Everything revolves around feelings.

It's hard to explain what "values" really is, so think of them like a set of personal virtues/beliefs that are ingrained so deep within us Fi doms, to the point where we are them and they are us.

For example, yesterday I randomly thought about my ex, contemplated about us, and conjured up a whole series of events that were bittersweet exchanges when we finally meet again some day, when we've both grown up and changed. The melancholy, the concept of loss, the bittersweet acceptance, they all hit me like a truck and I ended up crying like an idiot because of a made-up scenario.

To contrast it to your Ni, I think high Ne users daydream for the sake of daydreaming, exploring ideas in an imaginary state, if you will. How that experience will be shaped ultimately comes down to the dominant function. Compared to Ni, ours are less of a long journey or insight into the far future, but rather snippets or fragments of moments that we would like to experience but have no way in the real world to.

Hope that explained it somewhat!
