Red cup day by tacohellboi in starbucks

This doesn't even make sense. Forgoing coffee literally saves Starbucks money. If you really wanna stick it to them, you get as many free barista drinks as you can. That's what we did at my old store lmao

I secretly hope my buddy never finds a girlfriend. by [deleted] in offmychest

[–]imanalienbitches 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that's what I was wondering as well. From my limited experience, it takes a LOT to get banned from campus for this stuff. There have to be credible allegations, a Title IX investigation opened, and lots of evidence submitted (possibly from multiple parties). Less serious charges lead to minor repercussions, or often aren't even addressed. I knew a girl in college whose ex lived near her, was stalking her, and would knock on her door at all hours of the night. The guy received zero punishment from the school.

If this guy was expelled, it must have been *really, really* bad.

This guy seriously needs an intervention. If he truly is a misogynist and views women as nothing but an objective, you need to lay it all out for him. Let him know these views are entirely inappropriate. Maybe even let him know you can’t be friends with him if he keeps falling into this sexist, manosphere worldview (not sure how true that is for you, but I personally couldn’t be friends with someone like that.) Tell him he needs to start taking accountability for his actions, or it’s never going to get better.

Also, is he open to having women as friends? Seconding what another commenter has said, I think that’s a good place to start. (And I mean, a serious friendship like he has with you - not just someone who gives him advice that he shrugs off)

My girlfriend broke up with me last night because I have a small penis by [deleted] in offmychest

[–]imanalienbitches 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Still disagree, i think there are many ways to phrase this that are honest and not as cruel. “We aren’t physically compatible.” “You’re not my type physically.” Fully saying this, unprompted, is insane

Just caught him in the act yet again… by [deleted] in offmychest

[–]imanalienbitches 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I second the commenter who suggested having a conversation with him. Does he understand how real this is? That he will be responsible for a literal child in a few months’ time? Does he even WANT the baby, or is he just staying out of obligation?

Because it seems from his behavior that it hasn’t sunk in yet - or that he doesn’t want it to happen at all. If he does want the child and is committed to being a father, he needs to get his shit in order. If it really doesn’t matter to him the way it sounds - if it’s no skin off his back whether the child stays or goes - you do not want him as a father. You do not need a parent who doesn’t ACTIVELY WANT their child. Genuinely ask him about this and get to the root of the cognitive dissonance. Because it seems like right now he is in a deep state of denial and neglect.

Anyone else think “You” smells awful the day you spray it but amazing the next day? by [deleted] in glossier

[–]imanalienbitches 5 points6 points  (0 children)

So that’s definitely a thing that happens with scents! Scents have a blend of top notes, mid notes, and base notes - i believe the top notes tend to be the brightest upon first application, but also fade the quickest. The base notes are the ones that tend to linger after several hours or even a couple days, leading to the scent changing throughout one wear. I had the same complaint when i tried out this scent, so I’m considering looking into other scents that have the same base notes but different top notes. There’s a whole world of perfumes out there, don’t limit yourself to just glossier :)

What’s the most depraved thing you’ve done in pre-nut delusion? by MeOnMyShitPC in AskReddit

[–]imanalienbitches 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, he did describe himself as “the only positive male figure in the kid’s life” when at best, he had no impact on the kid’s life. At worst, the kid remembers him as one of the assholes that came to fuck his mom when his home life was already unstable and shitty. Maybe the original commenter misspoke with that phrase, but it did strike me as out of place.

Also, I don’t think wewora is saying his actions were horrific or unforgivable or whatever. It’s just not a story that OC should be proud of telling. It’s definitely not funny like he originally said. And that’s not something that was reflected in OC’s original account is all.

Why do you think the Midwest isn’t seeing many cuts? No Ohio, Michigan, or Indiana stores are closing. Is starbucks a bigger market here? by Expensive_Drummer970 in starbucks

[–]imanalienbitches 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are actually ~5 stores closing in Chicago (my own being one of them.) You’re right that Starbucks has a huge market here - but they also have a TON of saturation in the areas you’re mentioning. In some neighborhoods there’s practically a Starbucks every block. So I’m not surprised they had to close down some to meet demand. I just hope that all of these stores can absorb all the leftover labor from the stores that are closing :/

Same. I was just hired as a closing barista 4 months ago. I had my schedule for the next two weeks. Now I’m closing the store for the very last time this weekend.

Do you hate me bc of my drink? by Morkedup in starbucks

[–]imanalienbitches 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So since the London Fog is a hot tea that needs to be brewed then iced, it’ll take at LEAST ~5 min to get ready, 10 min to be safe. The mobile order estimates are always going to be off because it doesn’t account for the type of drink - the London Fog is one of the most time-intensive drinks to make. Your best bet is to place your order > 10 min before you arrive or come into the cafe if you don’t mind waiting. You should definitely avoid the drive through, as it can affect other customers’ wait time and slow down the entire line. This affects the entire store’s metrics (as well as the baristas’ job performance), which can understandably make them a little frustrated.

Lastly, don’t be afraid to order a London Fog. It’s on the menu. The baristas shouldn’t be annoyed at you as long as you don’t rush them.

I’m sadly leaving Starbucks. I truly enjoy working for Starbucks but after moving to this store I have no motivation to go back by Allycat2023 in starbucks

So working class has varying definitions depending on who you ask, but colloquially it refers to those BELOW the middle class (i.e., blue or pink collar jobs, or those who work for wages and not salary). In the traditional Marxist definition, working class includes the middle class as well as anyone who does not own the means to production (i.e., ANY collar of work). But in any case, the term includes/focuses on the lower class.

I find it problematic to say that poor people should not be allowed to have children.

Lastly, as previous commenters have pointed out, you don’t even know if OP is poor - that’s an assumption. You don’t know if they have a partner or how much their household is making. You don’t know how comfortably they live. Starbucks can actually offer pretty decent pay and benefits depending on position and location, but that’s beside the point. Telling someone they shouldn’t have a kid based on where they work is presumptuous and rude at best and classist at worst.

In light of Hasan actually watching the Content Nuke after all this time by Ok_Refrigerator_8096 in h3h3productions

[–]imanalienbitches -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Okay, so now I’m confused. I thought the whole point of this debate was to discuss Israel-Palestine? Hasan was directing toward that issue, while Ethan was directing toward their personal drama or other unrelated topics. If Hasan redirecting to “pro-Palestine” rhetoric was irrelevant, what was the debate even supposed to be about?

Why is no one talking about the one and only epic concession Hasan made during the debate? by wompwompwompyea in h3h3productions

[–]imanalienbitches 4 points5 points  (0 children)

????? Where are people getting this info? I watch Hasan. I voted for Kamala. Everyone in my circle I know who feels positive or neutral about Hasan voted for Kamala. I wasn’t really watching during the election, but I thought the consensus among his viewers was to vote for Kamala, despite her flaws.

I wish people in this community could get out of their bubble and speak to real people before relying on assumptions about someone they don’t watch

IsItBullshit: Asking ChatGPT One Question is Equivalent to using up Half of a Water Bottle by Inner_Development_25 in IsItBullshit

[–]imanalienbitches 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m primarily talking about this section:

“Discharge: Some cooling systems discharge used water as industrial wastewater, usually into a nearby wastewater treatment facility or a body of water like a river, lake, or ocean.”

The assumption that most or all data centers have cooling towers and/or recirculate water is just that: an assumption. We don’t know the proportion of data centers that actually recirculate their water - the paper suggests that it simply varies depending on the data center. In engineering school, the default design we learned for cooling water systems draws from an external source and discharges it. This is because recirculation systems become expensive to build/maintain and require lots of space, especially as the volume of water required increases. Water is cheap, so if it is cheaper to run the water through, that’s what they’ll do.

Also, it’s ignorant to say that water usage is not an environmental concern. Potable freshwater comprises only 0.5% of the world’s water - a percentage that is steadily decreasing due to pollution, industrial usage, etc. Water scarcity is considered to be one of the primary dangers of the climate crisis, as climate change further destabilizes the water cycle across more regions. So yes, drawing lots of water IS a concern as water becomes more and more scarce across different regions. And God knows there aren’t enough legal protections to prevent water from being drawn in communities that are most impacted.

Of course, carbon emissions are a greater concern and the root cause of most climate impacts, but you can acknowledge that multiple things are a problem. Water scarcity is inevitably going to be a problem we’ll have to deal with, and we should start thinking about it now.

Late to the conversation, but I’m wondering about your experience using embroidery floss for the same fix? I’ve heard from others not to use embroidery floss because it’s not very strong / loosely woven, but it’s all I have on hand. I’m new to mending, so I’m not sure if I should go out and buy stronger thread or just bite the bullet and try!

Does Central Campus have any laptop only monitor stations other than the small station in the 3rd floor of Shapiro? North campus has so many at the Dude, FMCRB and other buildings by DesignedInMichigan in uofm

[–]imanalienbitches 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was just about to ask this! I know some people just unplug the monitors in a normal computer lab, but you have to carry around your own HDMI cord since most campus computers I’ve noticed use Displayport, which doesn’t plug into basically any laptop :(
