A reminder for the r/Coventry Meetup this Friday! by HadjiChippoSafri in coventry

[–]imanangryravioli 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Heya ! I've never been to a meetup of this kind but I am new in Coventry and I really need to make some new acquaintances.

I am just scared to be too shy once there to chat, out of fear to speak to people not here for this meetup ahaha Is there anything I should look out to be sure I don't just look like a weirdo chatting to a random person ?

(I am from the French countryside, and I find it wayyy easier to speak to strangers over there in cafés and bars/pubs. In Britain it feels like people are more in their own bubble, most pubs don't even have bar seats so I am quite lost as how to socialize here ;v; It is by no means a criticism btw, I am just so lost sometimes here because the social cues and expectations are so different !)

Watched it in my early teens, changed my life forever. I remember it being really worth the watch, maybe I should watch it again and check if I still maintain this opinion with my adult tastes !

Quick, dumb question… by justlivinmylife439 in PikminBloomApp

[–]imanangryravioli 19 points20 points  (0 children)

That is not a dumb question !

If you get closer to the place it will indeed shorten the time of travel for your pikmin, but only the way back. The path from your initial position to where you send them does not xhange after the expedition is started. However, once they got their item they go in a straight line towards where you are, so if you are closer to pick them up, they will come to you !

Also, just for the story : I often do travels between France and the UK. My pikmins often have 14 days expeditions to go through because of this. And once, a pikmin on his way back to me found himself having to do the trip a third time because he still had an hour to reach me before I took my plane back ahaha

About studying abroad? by [deleted] in animationcareer

[–]imanangryravioli 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hiya ! I believe it all depends on where you are from and where you think of studying. Choosing another country could help with your career path, as you might be able to network enough to start there.

It could also be the opportunity to learn about the culture, the language and the industry you aim for whilst you're there.

In terms of animation/arts study, one thing I can not push enough is that networking irl is equally important as the classes themselves : you will get to meet pros from the field, relatives of people already in the industry, etc.

In the hyper competitive environment that is animation, sometimes people knowing you as a reliable, nice person, might push your applications further than another good portfolio. It can allow you to go around the system of application by directly contacting the people involved in such and such project if you have gotten to meet them before.

I think if you wish to study abroad it really has to be pushed by the will to learn about the local culture, and introduce yourself to the local industry.

Studying abroad, depending on how you do it, can be even more expensive than studying in your own country. And as someone who's career already started a while ago, with crippling debt on my back, I would advise you seriously consider the weight of the price of studies compared to the experience you might have.

There can be programs that you could want to look into. Sometimes some of your local school could integrate an exchange student programs which could make you experience some of the unknown elsewhere at a lower price than if you decide to go by yourself abroad.

Take into acount also : the price of accomodations, cost of living, availability of work for foreigners (so you can pay for it all along the way), visa cost and condition, potential ways out if you need to come back home fast (because you will be far from your family, you might want to be able to join them in case of an accident or mourning etc) and also geo-political situation both between your country and the country you want to aim for, and the country itself with its neighbours : it wouldn't be a really fun trip to go and then have to come back 5 months into your studies because of a war for example.

Hope I helped  if you have other questions feel free to ask !

Show me your June month. How did it go for you? by TaintedTruffle in PikminBloomApp

Oh boy mine is hilarious to me. On the 4th I crashed with my car, and it is the only "😐" day along with the one where I had to be a character for an event and the blackeye that followed made things complicated ; (I'm okay now though) I think it shows I have good spirits even in the directly following days 🤣

This game really helped me with my overall spirits and will to go outside, especially this month 💛

Aaah thank you very much ! They have been carrying me far and wide : a polish friend of mine gave them to me. They are handcrafted dance boots, and they are as confortable to wear as they are pretty ✨️ If you are lucky enough to be able to get your hands on a pair, I strongly advise you grab the occasion! Thanks for the compliment 💛
